Default Setting up Game Dev Team...

    Hey all

i am looking for people who are interested in game development.

really looking for people who are committed and willing to learn rather than skill. but skill is a bonus.

i am currently at university studying games development, i know the basics C++, DirectX, OpenGL, XNA, .Net stuff. but i am still an amateur.

I not a bad coder. but my art sucks, i am trying to improve it by learning Blender, Photoshop, Flash, 3dMax, etc... but ideally it would be great to get someone on board who has a PASSION for art like i have a passion for coding.

Artists, Modellers, Coder, Storyboarders, Writers all the usually people send me a message/pm and lets see if we can get some ideas flowing.

I am a realist i know the game is not going to happen over night, but if your willing to stick with it, learn and improve your skills I am sure we will get there in the end.

At the moment i am looking into the new UDK Unreal Development Kit.

But my aim is to create a Multi-Platform game (Windows/Linux/Mac) that all can use and share and modify. but this goal is more of an end point than a start point.

So if you are interested get back to me....

EDIT: errr what ever the date and time is lol
also leave you MSN, Skype, IRC room or what ever you use. so we can contact you.

    Sure, why the hell not.

As for skill, sure I got it. I am a programmer at heart, but artistic stuff is a side that I am currently persuing.

Writing, well, I dont really like to write per se, but I can ramble off things that would shock the hell out of writers.

As for experience with the UDK, I am developing massive worlds, take the world and make it a map, pretty much, so far it is going pretty well.

Anyway, this is just a side note, I would like to see what your ideas are.

Oh and btw, UDK is cross platform. Since UE 2.0 and 2.5 were made for DirectX and OpenGL.

    Just a side note.

Programmer for Hire! Well not hire, for free.. well you get the point :P

Worked in UScript for a good while now. I know the ins and outs of it.

I can also rewrite most languages to another if you ever wish to make this game outside of Unreal, or port it to another engine.

I am also familiar with many other languages in case you wish to integrate UScript with an online database, or something else of that sort.

I have a 3/4 finished UT3 mod that is rather stagnant now. My team kinda dissolved so its at a standstill.

If you wish to see any of the code (i have a good 3k lines) feel free to ask and i can send you the entire source, or partial, whatever suits your fancy.

I am also experienced in the material editor if you need any nice looking art.

Feel free to contact me via PM, IRC (irc.borgamers.com channel #Nachos), or e-mail (go to my profile and hit Send E-mail)

    Default Hoi ! Phoenix!

Oh snap, cool stuff! Would you like to discuss more over IM and Coffee? I like your idea, but I as well am a Game Designer learning on The UDK as well, art I'm ok at not great mind you! But ok enough that I get comments from complete strangers on a postive note but I get the once and awhile crit to improve too. I think we could do great things as a team.

I have a site establish, a talented team that works good togther. We're in need of a few positions and well one hand can wash the other as well right? Lets see if we can meet and discuss things at length if possible?

I'll throw my hat in as a writer. I've dabbled some with unrealscript, but I'm much better at writing story, dialogue, quests, etc. If there is writing work to be done on this project, I could certainly use the padding on my portfolio.

Please send me an email to get things rolling: gbjacksoncreations@gmail.com

Has any of the team members worked through an entire project before? While I've got plenty of enthusiasm for people who are still learning the trade (like myself), I think it would be of tremendous benefit to attract someone who has some sort of project management experience.

    Thanks much!

Except this isn't UE2 or 2.5, it's UE3 and it doesn't support OpenGL. There are rumblings of a Linux port of UT3, but this doesn't necessarily mean UDK is ever going to get one. Mac / Linux support is unlikely, but sure, if you ever get the funding and resources you can always have that added in yourself.

    Good Question Cow Muffins. YES there is a basic\;
    - High Level Plan
    - Game Features list
    - UPS (Unique selling points)
    - Control Map

this is about a 4 or 5 page document. 10+ pages with the interface
    concepts (not art, text)

as well as a very basic art book.

The 2 most active team members me and Phoenix are currently working on a basic game interface design in Photoshop, to give other developers and artist the "Look and Feel" of the game. and hopefully another artist can pickup the art book and interface design text and plan out a better design for us.

This is not a fly by project, we are dedicated to releasing a game hopefully with in 12 months and a beta within 6 months.

Now seems a good time more than ever to update people.

There are currently about 10 team members being considered all with different skills from coding to art to writing.

But not all of the 10 or so people that expressed interest are replying, a lot of people are sending one message then disappearing. we are looking for serious people. even if you are not particular skilled, as long as you are willing to spend the time learning and helping fellow team members i am sure you can be of some use.

So keep the request coming people and don't forget check you inbox's on here for replies

I'm still learning the basics of UDK, so 'skill' I cant give you atm, only desire to learn.

I'm an application programmer and have some experience with game programming like XNA.

    Here's my contact info.

Well, I don't have any skills with modeling, programming, etc.. but ! I would really like to be a part of the team as a level designer. I am only 15 but I am very passionate about this.
    (currently learning maya)

I also have some skills in photoshop ! I used to made forum signatures and that kind of stuff so I could make an interface. Writing would also be possible ( as you can see it's not my strong point XD)

I might be able to do music. I use FL (demo, sadly, but the idiots overlooked MIDI.) and have several drum soundfonts, drop me a line with your preferred style!
