Thread: Basic rendering

    Default Basic rendering

    Hi all,

So all I have done so far is made a floor and walls following some of the tutorials on the forums here, so i have your basic room with the blue and white checkers.

If anything (marketable) comes of my playing with the engine I don't want to accidentally include any UDK artwork so I have imported a .tga image as basic render to play around with.

All the tutorials I see advise to simply select the image in the content browser, select the appropriate area, right click, and add material - this does nothing.

I found an option to create a new material when right clicking my .tga file in the browser, after doing this and repeating the above process I simply have a black floor or wall.

I notice that the mat I created has 3 instructions and 0 textures so I assume I need to reference the .tga file to it as a texture but after looking here and trying my own luck after an hour I have had no success.

    My question:
How do I apply a basic render to my blue and white checker board floor and walls?

    Thanks.
    Wek.

Did you wire your Texture Sample to the Diffuse node?

    Thank you Nightclucker!!

erm.... now there is a sentence I didn't think I would ever use

The image actually hides the diffuse node when viewing in the material editor, and a couple of the others as well, but some careful mouse clicking saved the day.

    Thanks again.

Select the TextureSample, and hold Ctrl while clicking to drag the box to a better location.
