For the dodge ramp instead of the ut2k4 style you have to come in real close to dodge up. It takes a little practice but you eventually get the hang of it.

Ahh, UT2K4 maps. Play a solid round and here are my thoughts...

    1. Overall, nice "remake". The scaling of it works really well with UT 3.

    2. The one thing that irritates me about any map is adding music as an ambient sound, this should never be done to any map. This would be the only reason why I wouldn't keep this map.

    3. Because of the music constantly playing, it was hard to judge the sounds of the map. It would be nice if the floor materials add the appropriate sounds (metal, stone, etc).

    4. I wonder if the "exhaust" sounds might be too big of a radius, given how many there are. Again, hard to tell with the music playing.

    5. The lift doesn't make any sound when it's going down.

    6. Would be nice to add a small water volume in the appropriate areas for footstep sounds and splash effects.

    7. The lighting looks good, but I sometimes I think it's a bit too even. A bit more contrast would be nice.

    8. There are some areas where I tried to dodge jump off a wall, but the exhaust static mesh stopped me. Collision could be improved all around the map in areas like these. Be aware of players getting caught on small objects.

    9. Not a big deal, but maybe add blocking volumes around the windows so players can't stand inside the window frame as it looks a bit silly.

    10. Not a big deal either, but maybe allow weapon fire to go through the metal fence floor.

Hopefully that will help you out.

Very Nice Looking! judging from the screens it looks like your working on a nice balance of lighting, combined with your BSP and the right amount of Meshes for trim and accents. (You can always tweak and further enhance the textures by adding instructions, specular effects, diffusion and details) if you decide to take it that far.

One thing i really dislike in the UT3 engine is maps that are completely mesh (too busy) or all BSP (to plain) and poor use of lighting, i hear people complain and say things like; "the lighting sucks in the UT engine"

IMO its one of, if not the most powerful graphics API available, subtle changes can have profound effects; this can have excellent results for people who know what they are doing, but its obviously a double edged sword for those who tweak too hard will often achieve less desirable results.

Kudo's on your map so far OP! - Smart move releasing the Beta first instead of a final, especially if its your first official release, Odedge as always has some of the most constructive and detailed critique you'll hear on the official forums.

Thanks for the feedback guys I know I half-assed the sounds I've still got much more work to do on those. And thanks for the tips odedge. Numbers 9 & 10 though I think I'll just stay true to the original. I'll probably increase the blocking volume around the windows.

Did anyone have any trouble with the dodge ramp?

I hear ya. Like I mentioned, the biggest thing that needs to change is the forced music. The other stuff will just make the map more polished and such.

Did anyone have any trouble with the dodge ramp?
    Nope, worked very well.

it already looks good but if you could do Odedge steps 1-8 then you have yourself a really awesome map. I wish you the best and please keep us updated.

    DM-1on1-Trite... pow pow poooww.....

This map is probably lost for ever, it is not possible any more to find it today (there is regrettably a lot in the same situation). If nobody preserved it in the files staff and if nobody redoes a link of download, then you will never have this map.

I knows it is really very sad to see disappearing from the contents. I too was really saddened by the disappearance of some maps, mods and mutators.

I can make nothing against it....

But in your case, there is a small comfort, the map "DM-1on1-Spliff" is a reamake of the map "DM-1on1-Trite"

Hmm, that other map is not a remake, it is inspired/remixed from the good UT2004 Deathmatch map, DM-1on1-Trite, with different textures and styles in case you won't miss. And can't find this 'real' UT3 remake either.

    Good news everybody....

I have the map 'DM-1on1-Trite.zip' which contains:

    DM-1on1-Trite-Readme.txt
    DM-1on1-Trite.ini
    DM-1on1-Trite.ut3 14.364.299 bytes
    DM-1on1-Trite_LOC_int.upk

    Release Date: 10/27/09
    Authors: Epic Games, Pookycs09,

Being new at this forum (and forums in general) please tell me the easiest way to distribute this zip-file.

OBS: I have quite a few ut99, ut2004 and ut3 maps (not anything else, like skins, mods etc.) on external hard drives. Up to 2000 maps, primarily dm, ctf and vctf, for ut3, but also some war, jailbreak, bombingrun, dom and doubledom, etc. - and a few mappacks, - I also have a good deal of maps for for ut99 and ut2004, but not for any other versions of UT. I have NO maps for Consoles, Mac, Linus or your refrigerator... (sorry :-)

Please ask for any(!) missing map u might need. Good chance i've got it. This has been kind of a 'wild' hobby for me over the years :0 ..Yes, im not quite young - at least not of age. :-)

    Greetings from *HerbieChick.

    - Here is a temporary link to 'DM-1on1-Trite' !
(..and I believe, it's the real thing, as you can see from my last post.)

Please(!) get it fast. It will expire on August the 1st - at the latest.
PS: Connection is not very fast, but the zip-file is rather small.

    Cool Lovely remake.

Like the lighting, gameplay, details, meshes, and visuals. Needs player load (it's 1on1 and minimum of 4 players) and author over the preview shot. Cool custom music track [but forcing the track through the ambience volume (not the music volume)] and noisy in steams. Z-axis similar to the original one and textures are [not so] sure the same/similarities. Otherwise, good remake and the bots are decent.

I'm taking down my temporary link to the file (se previous post.) Please get it from the UTzone link above.

    - Thank you to the UT / UT2004 / UT3 community for making all these beautifull and exiting maps over the last decade.

As mentioned, I have kept a lot of them over the years and will gladly share any 'lost' maps with you. I am reading this UT3-forum regulary so just 'bark' a bit... :-)

    Have a nice summer...

As you may have guessed, i DID se this thread last month, and was irritated, that I didn't have any of the maps. But it also made me decide, that I would keep an eye out for any request for maps, that I DID have.

    - I do have 'CTF-Elysium b1', but by 'Ben "wenbu" Wu' from November 11, 2009, and VCTF versions of SANDSTORM and SUSPENSE which i think are 'standard' maps.

I also wondered, if it could be of use to anybody, if I made a complete list containing all of my ut/ut2004/ut3 maps? If so, where to put it?

    ..I'll be back(!) ..in august.

    Smile good beta remake map

needs player load and author in preview shot; yes, the sounds are a little off but still a very good remake and I believe the music is playing all the time (forced?) in the original UT2004 map, but maybe I’m not understanding this aspect; the bot is better in UT2004, but the 1on1 gameplay is still good in here; the lighting seems fine, never got caught on anything, never rode a lift, and I like being able to jump through windows.
