A day in the life of Epic Greed Server #1

Dear journal,
I'm so excited to frag away in one of my favorite game modes! Today is a day for non-stop gaming! I can't wait to play fun levels like Rails, Strident, Searchlight and Necropolis. It's going to be a great day!

Everyone's been voting Lost Cause and Morbid, but that's alright. I'll just give it some time. They'll get tired of those maps in a little while and vote something else. And hey, we're having some fun games, right?

I really wish we could play some other levels. There lots of other great options! I've been asking to play some other maps for three games in a row now but no one votes them. Teams were a little imbalanced, but that was just one game. It'll get better eventually.

Why does everyone hide in our own base when they pick up tons of skulls? Don't they realize the moment they drop them the enemy will capture them? Why do our titans camp in our base playing "defense"? The enemies get through anyway. They don't even know how to ground pound! Why won't they cover us on the way to the enemy base? What is up with these freaking teams and why are we still on Lost Cause?!?!

That is what happens when you commit yourself to a server/gametype for a decent amount of time--you'll probably leave disappointed. I would have switched to a different gametype/server if things get crappy, which is exactly what I did when I was sharing your pain tonight (server and all).

Since I frequent Epic 1 Greed... here's some input on it:

-most Greed pubbers have a middle-low skillset
-very few all-around solid players ever show up to play Greed
-the majority of Greed pubbers don't see the game beyond their own perspective
-Epic 1 Greed's environment requires a player to know how to consistantly survive from their skull hole to the enemy's skull hole, and most pubbers just lack that ability
-just like WAR, the handful of mindful players must take initiative and be their team's backbone to avert its destruction
-Morbid and Lost Cause are absolutely the most popular maps, with bouts of rematches, on Epic 1 Greed because the average Greed pubber isn't as capable in more complex maps (gametracker says 29% Lost Cause and 13% Morbid)

-despite all that, if you don't singularly focus on winning and get a few nice kills or do at least one thing particularly well for your standards, you should have some "fun" every map to justify your time/gaming investment

FYI: I played Strident, Rails, Sandstorm, and Morbid once today on Epic 1. I played Lost Cause around 4 times. I probably left the server 3 times when I didn't like where things were going, one time was when Hydrosis was voted in.

Shameless Plug: My clan has been trying to populate our Greed server, BOOM's Slaughterhouse and we've stolen the Epic 1 crowd a few times now. Our server does attract better players than Epic 1, so you might want to try it out when it's populated. We have lots of customs, every ladder and stock map, and InstaGib Greed (map lists are refined after a map gets enough feedback). We have 2-15 people in vent playing Greed in Epic 1 or our server during any given north american afternoon, evening, and night... just a few things to consider.
