I mean like a general tutorial for the gametype, not the maps.

There really isn't any tutorials on how to play vctf but there are things you can do that can help.

Go into dFb and spectate the good players, players who are usually capping flags and at the top of the scoring list. This generally are the good players who actually play, but you will get people ont he top of the list doing nothing but camping a tank somewhere or sniping, not that it isn't helpful, but it isn't showing you how to play vctf, it is easy to camp. Look for people trying to cap flags as it can show you where flags routes are, and by knowing that you can figure out how to defend on your side with vehicles and what not. And again if you have any questions just ask, most people are nice enough in game to help, there are a few exceptions to this rule but most are generally helpful. If you see me in game and have a question I'll help ya as best as I can. And if you still are going to go on vent with UTF on Sundays, that would also be a good time to ask questions.

Well, I will try to tell you some important facts about vCTF.

    First off:
Being a good taxi is very helpful.
Try to look at map very the flag currently is.
Then go to a suitable place and wait for your team mate.

Never waste vehicles for taking a flag.
The vehicles will be hijacked and you can get killed by your own vehicle.
Use vehicles which can self-destruct or try to destroy your vehicle by using killzones.
    (Like the wall in Corruption.)
Good vehicles are Scorpions and Vipers.
As soon as you reach the enemy base, check out if you can destroy something with the self-destruction.

Jump Boots and Armor/Shield are very important as well.
Most times, they are the key to success.
Everyone will try to kill you while having the flag, so try to avoid and try to fool your enemies by some define jumps.

Try to reach the enemy base stealthy.
Once you have the flag, you can shoot down anything.

Hammerjumps are also useful, but I don't use them (hardly use them).
The problem is you are an easy target while charging your hammer, but this is everyone's own decision.

I think timing is also one of the most important things.
Think and handly very quickly, then you will be a great flag carrier, but I think this is always important^^

And while having the flag, you always should have an Avril, I mean equipped.
Vehicles are the fastest, so they can kill you within some seconds.
So always look behind you and have an Avril.

Try to go with your flag to your base carefully when you reach it.
Many players will wait for you so don't be too fast, last second save is always a shame.
Especially enemy vipers are hard because of their self-destruction, which is always directed to the flag zone.

Okay, I don't know what to write else, if you have any questions, ask and I will try to answer them as good as I can.

    Edit
And try to escort your flag carrier, does not matter if you have a vehicle or not.
He can die quickly and if you are near him, you can take it and continue to walk to your base.
Then you can be a friendly team mate and feign death if he waits in the flag zone (if he transported it the whole map and died some metres near the base).
But never wait, score if no one waits...

Ah and same as in other team based modes:
Don't take the whole ammo in your base, your team mates need it as well.
And never take jump boots or shield belt while someone is having the enemy flag who is near you - you will lose friends if you do that^^

    Use the Redeemer smartly.
Take it, hide it and shoot it when you take the flag and running out of the base.
Or shoot down enemy camping vehicles.
(Shooting down the enemy flag carrier is perfect as well^^)

And don't ever get frustrated by dying a lot. Persistent flag carriers can die many many times. The biggest part is being right back in their base within seconds. When the other team is camping, I usually go in and almost intentionally die just to memorize their locations. You always have to try to find the best counter for any defenses. It usually helps when you can have 2 or 3 routes to the flag because you can get a little random.

Rule #1 in my book is estimating when to hesitate capping the flag. Try to scope out the area around your flag if you suspect there could be anyone there. A bit of hesitation to know where the enemy is, maybe waiting for your teammates to distract him, followed by a direct blitz to cap the flag is always a great feeling. Especially winning the game with the enemy manta or Titan right next to the flag... now he looks a bit foolish

yeah, i forgot to mention, spectating better players helps alot, learning their flag running routes or play habits.

and always remember to have fun.
Worse than you thought, but better than you think.

V__V you cant spectate on PS3... v__v (not that i need to)

being a taxi like on sandstorm or suspense ( fury/ raptor) is the best way to do it. although its much easier to get shot down by flak canons on suspense than it is on sandstorm
ma posts are betr than urs uh hu. there better than urs. i know they is long. get over it.
