Map - Deathmatch (PC) DM-Bagger-SE [Pics] [Download]

    Name: DM-Bagger-SE

    Version: v2.0

    Compatibility: PC (v2.1 compatible)

Description: DM-Bagger was born out of the Interlopers forums, which is a Valve mapping community, when somebody suggested this behemoth of a machine (the bucketwheel excavator) as a map.

I started and scrapped a HL2DM map based on the concept, but when I saw UT3, I knew that was the game for it. And how - I only found out when I was already 50% on the development of Bagger that Epic did a similar bucketwheel excavator for WAR-PowerSurge!

I just want to emphasize I did not steal their idea or map, it's a different game-type and it's a different layout. It is entirely unique.

Inspiration was drawn from the Bagger 288 currently mining in Tagebau Garzweiler, Germany.

I submitted this map for Phase 1 but alas did not win anything nor receive an honorable mention, I hope through this Second Edition I can grab a spot on the winners list of Phase 3. I really honed and refined this map on just about every area a map can be honed.

    Have fun!!

How about putting it on a recognizable mirror like Filefront.

I was under the impression that FileFront was going to be gone, like being thrown off a 10 story building but landing on one's feet

It's odd how FPSB has no foot-hold in the Unreal community - sure it has some lame maps submitted sometimes but it's a great map database. Oh and no, I don't work for FPSB!

    Here's the FileFront mirror: http://files.filefront.com/DM+Bagger.../fileinfo.html

Come on guys, feedback appreciated, when I know I didn't break anything and the map at least runs I'm gonna submit it to the MSUC

I'll check it out tonight. The previous version had some bot / gameplay issues, and the little rocks and the lava texture didn't look so hot, but otherwise it was a very nice looking and original map, and should have at least received a honorable mention in the MSUC, imo.
If it can't be modded, it ain't worth ****.

You know.. the one thing I couldn't really improve was the lava texture, it's practically the same, just wanted to give the heads-up before you get your hopes up on that. Just know I tried to make it look better, but nothing I tried really made my satisfied with it.

I tried it last night. The concept is unique. I didn't have any issues with bugs or anything. It's just not my kind of map. Maybe it would have been better to have some interior spots (engine room, control room ) as well as the catwalks and rigging.

Well, by now it's official, the MSUC came and went. And I missed the mark with this one, congrats to all who won in the contest.

I hope some people still had (or will have) some fun with this map

Cool Like it and very experimental!

Recommended this second edition of the map and the first one too, though I don't have comments in the first version. This map is a control/engine room and construction vehicle with decent paths and rocks. I like the visuals in both of them, blazing hot atmosphere, and noises including machines, electricity, steams, shockwaves, etc. The powerups at the bottom/tank wheels and the bucket wheel would be not ideal and perfectly enough but as for now even the bots are not grabbed but there are two Redeemers, this gonna be intense. Some of the few areas are stucked including catwalks, sniper on the top of the wires (even the bots are perfectly aiming) and tank wheels. Great gameplay (if not exceeded an FPS) and bots are seriously funny though if they are in the tank wheels and attempt to killed by a lava. Who knows?

    Four mirrors for this map:

To all UT2004/UT3/GOW modders, don't use GameFront because their FAQ is terrible and downloads not supported in some territories. Click here to find out how.
