    Character (PC) WIP character: Soldier Bee (critique encouraged)

    As a preface, this thread is meant mostly to gather more critique on what I've gotten done on this model. I didn't have much other reason than that, since i honestly would have preferred to keep this a secret until it was in a more ready state. If you think anything is off or doesn't look right, and you think it should change, say so. It'll be helpful in the long run. (Unless it's something stupid like 'lol boobs should be bigger'. In which case I'll go WAT because that's strange as hell.)
    SO.


    This is my current progress on this thing I've been calling a 'Soldier Bee', despite the fact it looks like some weird frog thing with horns. (long story)
    So far, I have about 2/3 the model work done. the render would have the hands in it, but those ended up being 1.2k tris (!) each, so I'm going probably redo those because that's an insane amount for something simple.
    The rest so far is around 9k (minus hands), which I'm beginning to think is a might bit steep considering there's still a considerable ammount left to do. oh well, I'll try to get that fixed when I go back over it.

    As a note, I'll update this thread with progress (which might be soon since I'm already working on the next section of it.)
    Another note, I have a tendency to color code the parts as I'm working then give them a base material later. the ones in red/orange are what I've done this week. (though it's more accurate to say 4-5 days.)

    I like him. Very pretty, clean model. Can we pretty please get a roving Cylon eye-line thing? I like those.

    Also it's a she. though that doesn't really say much since robots technically don't have genders.

    That looks like a "Zord" from Power Rangers or somethin'... lol.

    I personally don't like it pretty much, but I got a weird taste and it's original. Keep it up.

    I ASSUME this goes with liandri (it's an android) and i also ASSUME it's a hovering android
    also your modeling is 5 times better than mine, in fact, people wanted me off a forum for incredibly (bleep)y modeling

    Closing on finished mesh time. it's around 15.5k, though I'm sure I can fix that easily. all that's really left by now is to work on the shoulders and replace the hands. after this comes UVmapping, texture, normal map, and whatever else might be necessary to do before rigging process starts.

    Again, if there's anything constructive you'd like to add, please do so. (or not constructive since it seems I haven't gotten anything particularly useful yet. :< )

    really nice and clean mesh! looking forward to seeing it ingame!

    how's the color gonna be? something colorful like the corrupt from 2k4 would fit the model imo.

    Really the only colors I've had in mind for it have been red, grey, and some yellow highlights in some areas. I'm not particularly sure if I want it that simple though. If you have any ideas on what could be a color scheme, hell, i'd take a shot and see if it works.

    a big number would look good i think, because when i think of bee, i think worker bee. and those could be numerated.
    for color i guess a 2 color sheme with highlights in another color. i would keep it bright neonish. make it look fast :P

    I preferred Cathode instead of Divisor. Here's her. Maybe the red parts could be "neon-like", like Bi()ha2arD suggested.

    I also liked the idea from Bi()ha2arD of having a number. For a number I would suggest the hex equivalent of text Bee: 62 65 65.

    almost entirely UVmapped, sent to the texture artist, working on rig (if i could figure out where I put that female rig file.) then I gotta do whatever's left after.

    MSU snuck up on me so I didn't get in done in time.

    Doesn't mean I stopped working on it though! I decided to just get it finished and released in the best shape possible, then get back to work on the FO3 mod this was initially for.


    UVmaps finished, (head was a pain in the ass) so the stuff has been sent to the guy who was going to texture it.
    'til I get an update or something, guess I'll just get to work on other models. still need to finish up the mayor's model for the FO3 mod, so that's been my current project. maybe later I'll put some stuff up on him, I dunno.

    So, yeah, apparently the person who was going to do the texture never came through. Now I'm just stuck with a half rigged model with no way to assure it's completion. anybody care at taking a shot at this thing possibly?
