    Default All-In-One Glitch

I bought Gears 2 (the normal edition) two weeks ago and beat the game on normal, so I earn the Insane difficulty. Then, I play split-screen co-op with my friend on Hardcore and myself on Insane. We progress to Denizens, Scattered at the part after you press the button on the grindlift and the grindlift drills the tunnel. We died after trying to fight the locust down that long path, then we reload the checkpoint and I, as Marcus Fenix, fall through the map, see rectangles yellow and orange on my half of the screen, then reappear where I should be. The end of the tunnel where we first entered to go through drops off to the outer map and has the boulder awkwardly placed toward the upper left side. Still, we can progress through the game. I then play it solo on Insane and every character falls through the map this time and I get "MISSION FAILED" no matter what, but only under this circumstance. This glitch, when I play solo, doesn't happen when I play on a lower difficulty. Another strange thing is that the only thing I can select to be on Insane is the bots in multiplayer and Horde. In the solo and co-op campaigns, if I go to select a difficulty, Insane isn't available, so I'm afraid that if I select a lower difficulty and I reach a checkpoint, saving the selected difficulty, I won't be able to play on Insane from my current progress. Another effect of the glitch was my achievement progress and unlockables being reset.

Now, I take excellent care of my hardware and discs (I'm slightly OCD anyway). I wiped the disc tray, cleaned every spec I could see on the disc, then ripped it. I don't have highspeed because I live in a rural neighborhood in America (I'm sure you understand) and we haven't even set up dialup yet, so getting an update wasn't technically possible unless I went to my bro's place. When the glitch happened, I blamed Gamestop, where I bought Gears 2, because I would not believe that a glitch this bad could make it past game testing and Gamestop puts and keeps game discs in separate paper sleeves until they're sold, which seemed to have caused a slight scratch that I noticed when I opened the case for the first time. I had the entire thing exchanged for a copy that Gamestop didn't break the seal of. I took the shiny, absolutely perfect copy home, re-ripped the game and the glitch was still there.

I just got TU2 for the game and the glitch was still there, which is where I fall through the map and Insane is only available for multiplayer bots and Horde. This should have been patched, but if it couldn't be, then it must be a saved game related glitch caused by the glitch in the game-saver (the glitch that resets almost everything). I deleted my old, glitched saved game so maybe I could start a new saved game and experience such a glitch no more. I'm sure that the game-saver's glitch was patched, having the update, but I don't know if Epic Games had been aware of the full extent of the game-saver's glitch and how it created that other glitch (the saved game related glitch), so I'm sure that this story will help if any of this is news to them. I did tell other Gears 2 owners what happened before I got the update and they were all very surprised and confused as to how it could have happened.

Other people made posts only about their achievement progress being reset -- I told the rest of the story with assurance that it was not XBOX Live-related, an isolated incident, nor the result of consumer or nature related causes. Although, unlike what other people may have experienced, I was able to pick up where I left off on the three separate campaign saves and my Horde wave progress was still saved.

I still love the game though. I'm just giving constructive criticism for Epic Games to fix any glitches that hadn't been fixed yet. If the game-saver's glitch I spoke of was already resolved 100%, I didn't know.

Though I deleted the old saved game, the campaign progress I made after the game-saver's glitch occurred is still saved. Also, it seems that I still have to re-earn the Insane difficulty for campaign even when bots and Horde can still be selected to be on Insane difficulty. Let's hope the saved game glitch isn't still haunting me. I will avoid re-deleting the saved game, entering data management mode on the 360, then re-downloading the update until I reach a conclusion that either the issue is still going on or it was apparently resolved. I will add more in little updates below to make record of how Gears 2 (TU2) is handling itself.

I have beaten the game (again) and progressed to the part where I had fallen through the map before. I'm not falling through the map now, but will I after I do splitscreen co-op again?

Okay, I should have gotten on sooner, but nobody should care about my thread if they're reading it anymore. I got TU3 and have done Co-Op via System Link and via Splitscreen. Everything works fine. I also realized that my wave and campaign progress don't delete because they save to your Gamercard just like achievements, which is awesome.

    Thanks for reading.

The entire game is like this. Me and my friend got "heart attacks" while walking around. I fell through the map and got stuck while playing alone. The Skorge chase kept looping and wouldn't let me finish it.
Increase the time it takes to fully heal and you'll increase the use of cover

Dedicated Servers = 95% less bull.
