    Lightbulb Unreal Championship - Re-Imagined Version

    First time playing any other of Epic's games besides Gears of War and Wow, the gameplay elements, in this game, is FREAKIN, BAD-ASS. I just bought this game and started playing it and WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW.

    If I had a hand at designing and re-imagining a newer version of this game, I would do a whole make over with some tweaks to the style of gameplay.

    Pros and Cons for Current Status in my Own Opinion

    first off I would like to say that this game is very specific to a certain design. (Egypt in the future) in which there is a massive line of like it or don't like it. And I just happen to not like it. Sorry guys and gallllls but Iiiiiii'm just not a huuuuuuge fan of Egyptian style architecture. And thats not to say that I hate it completely. I do however like some of the futuristic textures and designs of some of the buildings and levels that aren't heavily gold and blue plated, Egyptian statued and symbols strewn out on them. I would have loved it much more if they held back a little more on it. Even though a couple of the level layouts were good, I still wasn't feeling it. But I do understand that the main characters and maybe the whole game is pretty much Egyptian influenced. Its what threw me off about this game in the first place when it first came out and I was very much into Halo and Halo2 at the time. Maybe I was into it a little too much. I bought this game used and very cheap if anyone was wondering.
    Would have paid 100 dollors to play this game if it was more like halo in regards to style.

    As far as the characters and races goes. I love the liandri bots and the skaarj race, but Torgr is way more bad-ass looking than Szalor(Szalor sucks). The human race is bad-ass of course.

    I have mixed feelings for the Nakhti race though, they have cool attacks with melee weapons and the weapons are cool, but again the egyptian style.

    The Juggernauts are a total wast of space. Your average meat heads.
    Already have some big guys, the skaarj, which are way much more cooler.
    And the Necris. A really nasty race in my opinion. Don't know why they are there but I guess some one at epic really likes zombies, vampires, gothic and the whole Egyptian look. The Necris are too far fetched for me. Could just be my preferences though.

    In regards to weapons, wheres the shotgun? I though everyone loved shoguns
    I do like the flak shogun though. But we need a modern version as well.Loved the rocket launcher and shock rifle concept. The pistols were alright.

    Just had to let you know how I felt about the designs before I started throwing out ideas.

    Gameplay 10of10 points.
    Style and Visuals 6of10 points.

    Re-Imagined Version
    And Possibly Non-Unreal and Title

    By Design and Minimal Game Play Tweaks

    Imagine if this game was simplified back to basics and Quite possibly starting it all over with a clean slate with characters, Environments and story. Just imagine.
    A Blending of Gears of War, Halo, Unreal Championship 2, Rainbow Six, Terminator, Robocop, Aliens, and Predators and might as well toss in some new stuff. A Hybrid if you will of everything Bad-Ass to make it Ultra-Bad-Ass.

    • Ok, now that thats over with. I would say a more of a grounded design with minimal futuristic touches. Like luminated computer screens and holograms in mid air type of deal. I love the shields and plasma looking weapons as well. I'm thinking of more bunker styled levels like thick cemented buildings and traditional stoneworked walls. The metal citys in the game are pretty cool too.
    • Make it third person Gears of War style.
    • I would like to see more robots like Raptor in the game. He was the reason why I love this game so much.
    • human factions, robots and possibly an alien styled race.
    • Linear styled campaign levels separated from arena styled levels.
    • Updated graphics.
    • More traditional styled weapons in regards to lead spewing.
    • A little bit slower paced like being able to walk without having to run all the time.
    • Again on style, More outdoorsy styled levels with some structures strewn about.
    • Every faction has its own theme for their characters and structures that aren't way too far fetched.
    • Each race's styles will be shown in some deathmatch and campaign levels such as buildings and environments and their buildings in different environments.
    • Tone down the adrenaline types or remove all together.
    • Remove health bar and make it auto rechargeable.
    • Possibly have mutators to allow the above two.
    • Be able to hide behind cover, Gears of War style.


    Well, thats all I got for right now.

    Feel free to tell me your opinions.

    Sorry if I sound like I hate this, which I don't. I'm at 50/50 with it.

    You seem not to like this game... You want this game to be so diferent (so halo, you said it)... Like turning it something not Unreal style! I think thats stupid...

    Not completely halo style, Because I don't really like the direction they went after halo1. Sure the gameplay and most of the levels has gotten way much better, but as far as characters, open sandbox feel and storyline goes, It went down the drain for me.

    I like this game, just not the Egyptian feel. And not all of the levels are Egyptian either. Which is why I'm currently playing this game still. Not to mention that the gameplay mechanics are bad-ass.

    Another thing I forgot to mention was the sheer scope of the gameplay. Now I've been playing games for a quite a long time and I'm good at them too. But when I first played this game, I did not know where to begin. There was so much stuff in regards to every character having their own set of ability's, quicks and slows, levels too decorated that I was very overwhelmed. And thats saying a lot from someone who loves games, is a hardcore gamer and wants to get in the gaming industry.
    It felt like there was a whole world of history that I was missing, like I was a total new guy to this world and feel. And therefore could not embrace the game for what it is. Surely over tremendous amount of time I would have settled in, but to new comers that don't have a whole lot of time on their hands, this game would be completely overwhelming. Especially if you've never played any of epics other games. Like me.

    Unlike Gears of War. I settled in to it quite easily because that game was brand new for everyone including Epic Games. There wasn't a whole backstory that I was missing. Felt right to start it where it was. Very simplified to the controls, characters, and story. Even though they could have added a little more story to game, I thought it was out of this world. The best game I'v ever played in my entire life. But what did catch me a little off guard was the environments. A little much, but not so much that I was completely confused like with Unreal Championship 2. In most of their levels in UC2, I couldn't tell up from down. I literally had to put down the controller and stare at the screen for a few minutes just to take it all in. KURPOW, like that.

    Would be hands down the best game over halo, gears and any other shooter I could think of. And to top it all off, make it so you could go into cover.

    Then don't call it Unreal Championship.

    Call it something else if it's something else.

    If you want people to use cover, you need to force them to use cover.
    To quote a UT3 promo mantra, "Gears on crack, cover is for the weak."
    If you want a tactical shooter, play one, there are MORE than plenty out there. Don't turn one of the few actually different shooters into the same d*mned thing.

    Hybrids can be cool but they can just as easily turn into a generic mush with no distinguishing features at all. You're talking about removing most of the sci-fi and fantasy elements, as well as, it seems, most or all of the unique gameplay elements, and making it a generic-as-hell, realistic cover-based game. That is the exact antithesis of Unreal, so don't expect much support.

    I don't need a game to be HOT for me to like it. I don't play games to be popular.

    Go play any other random generic shooter out there if this is the crap you want, and leave Unreal to those of us who want something different.

    And I'm just imagining. Thats all. Didn't you read the title and the first page. I also said IF I.

    I love most the weapons in the game and some of the characters they came up with. Just want more guns like the chaingun, pistol and sniper. The shock rifle is pretty cool, but kinda hard to kill big guys and then they get close and everything turns into a melee fest.

    I have a question for you Oliver and anyone else who wants to reply.

    I also like the fact that they kept every race consistent with their looks, like the Nakti. They don't differ much in style nor color, cept for apophis. Given you like the nakti. But I like playing as anubis from time to time to see him front, back and side flip. Very cool looking. If only there was an agile robot/skaarj like him.

    About half and half.
    Templed bricked walls and space craft styled environments help break it up.

    Don't now why it bothers me, but it does.
    And I love The Mummy movie too.

    Damn, I think you hit them all. I just would have said everything. But I agree with you about 97%. It was the learning curve and the faulty online that hurt this game. Though I didn't mind it, I wish others didn't either.

    Sorry for my poor english. I will do my best to improve it over the time.
    We can´t deny that maybe, "maybe", someone inside the Epic development team could be reading this posts. This forums inside the companies sites are meant for this purpose.
    The games market are very weak for certain games. Even more when they get "old", are exclusive for a platform that is dead and are not emulated in pc. This is the case of UChampionship 2. When I say that a re-launch, a boosted re-launch, of UC2 in the Originals or as a DLG(downloadable game) with a good market campaign and a good price, some better graphics and new adds(new levels, weapons, characters, AD-boosts, Shao Khan, Sheeva, Sub Zero or Scorpion as a playable characters and maybe a MK themed level for each kind of gameplay(why not? eheheh), this could make people remember how good this game is and even make new fans. And it is much more easy and cheap to revamp a finished game than build a new one.
    When a company like Epic or Valve do something, they make it to everyone remember. I think it is time to Epic make everyone else remember the Liandri Conflict.

    Sorry but your idea would take many of the things away that make UC2 so great. That's a NOOOOOOO. If there is to be a UC3, it should be along the same lines. Doubt that'll happen myself, but there's always hope.
