Loss of Every Stat after Title Update !

I first noticed issues after completing some of the newest achievements from the title update. I earned the achievements and still have the points, but at first it showed up as having the achievement 5/5, but then showed 0/5 etc. and it actually started recounting the wins on the maps. Not a big deal I thought. Everything else was fine though, until yesterday (2/21/09). I tried playing yesterday, and to my horror, all of my achievements and everything have been set back to zero. The game is acting like I've never played before. When I picked up a weapon for the first time it told me how to use it and started counting up my death by variety achievement that I completed a long time ago.

I still have the achievement points on my profile, but every collectible and kill from seriously 2.0 has been reset to zero, along with every other achievement counter. I was just about to break 4,000 kills on the 2.0 and had over 250 rounds on party like its 1999. I don't have a single stat that wasn't set back to zero, and now it shows I need to re-earn all the achievements. Even my online ranking was erased and now don't have a single stripe. I've also noticed a large gap in my online stats when i view them on the Gears page. Definitely missed several rounds from my january matches to the most recent late february match that showed up on the stats page.

Plus my game save is screwed up. I was playing co-op with a buddy on my game save, and we were on insane in "Aftermath" at "Free Parking" but when i try to enter that save with a buddy it won't let me. It starts us at Tip of the Spear and I can't select anything further. If I use that save in solo campaign, it starts me back where we left off the last time we played. I've never even started a solo campaign on Gears of War 2. We were so close to completing the game on insane, and now all my collectibles are gone and the only ones I needed to still get were the very last 2 in the final chapter.

Needless to say, I'm pretty pissed right now, all that work is gone. I just wanted to know if the people at EPIC know what the hell happened, and if it is reversible. I have no error messages, nothing to explain this oddity. I feel like the issue might stem from the title update that added the new achievements.

OK so everyone will lose their stats. Thats great news!! all those standbying pricks will be right with us without the ability to do that glitch so we will all have a fair chance to get high in the leaderboards.

It's actually a glitch with the game...it happens to some people once in a while (including me) and it's ridiculous. It's happened to me once, so I had to beat campaign again to unlock characters and so on, hopefully it wont happen again :@

Well, I guess its good to hear that it has happened to somebody else, except for the fact that it sucks for you too. Did it happen to you before or after the title update, i guess is the biggest question, to see if that glitch is connected with the update or not.

it happens everytime you complete the game, its happened to me twice already.

umm, i don't think so there buddy. It been months since i beat it on casual, and i didn't finish beating it on insane, i still had 2 or 3 chapters to go in the final act. Which is why I'm so pissed, I had those last couple chapters to go and the final 2 collectibles to find in the last act to get that achievement which will be the biggest pain to redo. That 4,00 kills to lose is a decent amount to recover, luckily i didn't have more yet.

But the biggest loss is the loss of my gold lancer. Is there some way I can get this back. I haven't tried reentering the code, as I can't find it.

To be honest I don't think I really want to play this anymore, I've lost all confidence in the updates.

But the biggest loss is the loss of my gold lancer. Is there some way I can get this back. I haven't tried reentering the code, as I can't find it.

To be honest I don't think I really want to play this anymore, I've lost all confidence in the updates.

have you tried downloading it again from your DL manager?

it happens everytime you complete the game, its happened to me twice already.

uh.. not to me. I've beat it on insane a few times, and nothing like that has ever happened..

I myself have not looked to see if i still have my gold lancer and gold hammer burst, thanks for bringing that up, i'll have to check on that. I never use them when i play so i probably never would have noticed i lost them, if i indeed have lost them. Gold weapons just make you stand out more, and it is easier to be spotted, so i don't use them, even though i have both lancer and hammer burst.

This just happened to me today. Is there any fix or workaround for this at all? These sort of issues dont happen with PC games etc etc....

There is no fix for it. It happened to me as well, everything that you all are describing. I also found it was impossible for me to level to level 2. I played online with a guy who had never played before and we all won, me getting many more kills them him, and a much better kill/death ratio, and he leveled to level 2 and I stayed at 1.

Epic commented on this in another thread explaining that it happens sometimes if you shut down the xbox without exiting the game completey, and I've heard it can happen if you play split screen with others. Also they asked about auto sign in options etc.

I contacted Microsoft and they couldn't help me. One fellow recommended I change the round lengths to 6 instead of 5.. Which you can't do online, but OK, I did it. Funnest tech support ever! Needless to say I hung up on him.

The next lady I got had some ideas like deleting and recalling my account back, but it's lost. There is no retaining the stats.

My recommendation.. Shut the XBox down to the Dashboard before shutting off your XBox, and disable auto sign in.

unlock it all again and you get double the points! hell yeah!

i have the exact same problem, epic have screwed up big time. i have emailed epic and no reply.

You never lose the gamerpoints. They show up not being completed in your gear war journal only, and yes you do have to re-complete them if you want them to be ungreyed. But you do not recieve the achievement points again. You simply lose any progress towards achievements that you have not yet completed. Like me being 2 collectibles shy of that acievement, and now I must refind all of them again.
