Solving the 'Modified Executable Code' Error!

A Temporary Fix!

Here is a simple step-by-step guide, with pictures, for fixing this error and for have a working GFWL (Games for Windows Live) so you can still get achievements.

Note: This guide is written for Windows XP. You should still be able to use it for Windows Vista!

Note 2: Also make sure you have the patch installed, which can be downloaded here.

Step 1) The first thing you will need to do is edit your current date. Simply double click on the time in the lower-right corner of the screen, on the task-bar.

Step 2) Once in there, change the year back to 2008.

Step 3) You should then be able to get into the game. Once in, try signing into GFWL and you should receive this error:

Step 4) To fix this error, simply Alt+Tab out of the game, and change the date forward to 2009. You should now be able to sign in to GFWL successfully. (If Alt+Tab does not work for you, then try using Ctrl+Alt+Delete.)

That will solve your problem for now. Note that you need to do this every time you want to play, until this problem is patched. I hope this small guide helped you, and you no longer have to smash your head into the keyboard.

Note to Epic / Microsoft: Please fix this error as soon as possible... it really is a waste of time having to play your game like this!

you could just change the day back before the expiration day lets say January 27 2009
and you should be go to go with out alt+ tab out of the game, this method worked for me
