"To play Gears of War, double-click Startup.exe"

I start the game, get this windowed message, have to hit ok, then the game closes to desktop at the end of the startup movies ( green Microsoft screen) what gives? Anyone else have this issue?

Run the game from the Folder where it is Installed.

You need to run both Startup App and WarGame-G4WLive App as an Administrator (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\Binaries the C and (x86) may not apply on your machine ). Are you running 64 bit or on a restricted account? I couldn't get it to run on 64 bit unless I set both to run as administrator. After I figured it out I can run it from Games or Start with no problems.

Hmm, no it's my personal pc at home, everything should be under Adminstrator. I'll take a look though.

i got exactly the same problem, the game closes after showing that message, but i dont understand what happened, cause i could play the game before, and some day this happened U_U

I have the same problem too. I only just bought it and have only been able to play it once. I've reinstalled the game put todays new patch on and still nothing. I've "double clicked" on startup.exe and then i get "This program cannot display the webpage". Any help would be greatly appreciated?

I'm having the same issue on Vista x64 Ulimate. I've tried serveral different ways but no dice. Quite annoying since I jsut got the game and started to play it. The only thing though is immediately after I double click on the startup or if I play the game from the games folder or anyother way it immediatley says that the program did not start correctly and is looking for a solution leaving me with a close the program option afterwards. Then it plays all the vendor clips (and logging on to Live) then it automatically exits. Oh well, perhaps another patch to wait for....

Hey guys I had actually gotten rid of the issue with a reinstall, but now it's back after the patch.

It seems to occur after you update your Title Updates one too many times or change your in game video settings. It's almost like the filepaths get broken somehow, and Windows can't find the game in order to run it.

The game worked right after the new TU. Then I tried to enable vsync and restart the game......and the startup.exe error returned.

I had the same problem. Even with all the patches.
I solved it using the OLDEST 1.0 Razor crack. Newer cracks won't work.

The saving-profile problem I solved with the Hamachi patch.
