    Map - Deathmatch (PC/PS3) DM-Tomac-WE (Winter Edition) [PC/PS3] [Pics] [D/L}

    Name: DM-Tomac-WE (Winter Edition)

    Version: 1.0

    Compatibility: UT3 1.3

Description: As time has passed, the Valley of the Hunters has found a new home on the planet of Kaimogen. Some have said that the spirits of those who were killed in the Necris War have found a resting place among these lands. These spirits have been known to give warnings to those who are in danger. As the cold winds blow and night covers the arena, hope that you find their favor, which just might save your life.

Comments: I wanted to have DM-Tomac set in a different time of day/year. This allowed me additional practice at lighting/atmosphere. The main layout of the map has not changed. I did make the following changes:
    1. New atmosphere (winter time set at night).
    2. Most of the weapons/ammo/health/power-ups have been rearranged.
    3. Assorted collision issues fixed.
    4. New Kismet event.

Credits: Myself (Builder), Epic (Original author of map layout, majority of assets used), TheAgent (Feedback and Kismet assistance), The Demon Slick (Feedback and private testing), DGUnreal (Custom assets), MasterB (Feedback and private testing), Sebastien-Nova (Feedback and kismet assistance), Thrallala (Converting original song to wav format) & everyone who posted feedback for the original map. See ReadMe for additional info.

I have heard that some people didn't like the repetitive aspect of all the rocks (which is very understandable). I am just try to jog your memory.

Oddly enough, I have a PS3, but not UT 3 for it. Hopefully my PS3 tester will give me a thumbs up soon (after Christmas). He stated that the previous version worked, so I doubt there will be an problems with the final version, but it's always best to make sure.

I had a lot of help with the Kismet part of this map. A big thanks to TheAngent and Sebastian-NOVA for helping me. Heck, they almost did all of the work on the Udamage event. I was inspired by DM-Calibrah, with the awesome stuff he did on his map.

Thanks. I need all the practice I can get with the artistic/atmosphere side of map making. Maps based primarily outdoors can have multiple types of lighitng (from suns/moons), which can really change how it looks.

Doing the winter version allowed me some practice, but with out all of the time building the map from nothing. I also wanted to change some other aspects as well, so it's not completely the same as the original.

Exactly, and not only the time such as mornin, afternoon, sunset, night, etc.. But outdoor maps have potential for multiple types of weather

    Keep it up man,

Glad I'm not the only one, although we don't see that much snow down south - going to start getting envious of LtClifff if Bristol has better luck in that department

Map looks great, downloading now - don't play much Unreal these days but will definitely take a look when I get the chance & post feedback

As ever, thanks for taking the time to cook for PS3

Good work. We put this on our VTDM server and it plays very good. Nice FPS and nice gameplay. 2 thumbs up.

No problem. I am glad that UT 3 for the PS3 allows custom content. Eventually, it seems like a PC and a console might be essentially the "same thing".

Even though I started this version after working on the oginal for so long, it was a nice change of scenery. I am glad you like the map.
