    Default All the issues are because of one problem.

    The chainsaw invincibility, the shotgun, the smokes and the glitches.

    There is one problem that causes them.



    LAG

    Fix it Epic.

    I don't agree that all the problems are because of lag, but I do think lag is the single biggest issue. It's much worse in Gears 2 because they took away the Player Match/Lobby option where you could see what your connection quality was to the host before you joined, e.g. green, yellow or red bar.

    The Gears 2 matchmaking system is garbage.

    Lag isnt the problem!! The netcode is broken, the guns are "Hitscan" as soon as you shoot it sends a signal and the bullet hits it and then a fraction of a second later you see a bullet animation.

    80% of the problems are lag based, will they fix it? Not sure how they could other than dedicated servers. Don't see that happening. Thanks Epic for your failure to deliver a great online experience this time around...

    I bought this thinking there were going to be great improvements made to the net code after all it was #1 complaint in gow.
    But I heard some scruffy haired buck toothed guy say it was going to be "buttery smooth online"
    never again son shine! will I buy anything linked to Epic or Blizinski <---if thats spelled wrong OH! noz!
    Its too big for the mods apparently

    Lag isn't going to be completely fixed any time soon. You're going to have to get used to games with slight lag. As for games where you're skipping all over the place as shots take minutes to land, that definitely needs an improvement.

    Just take a second to think logically, guys. If EPIC has known about the issues with their netcode since the beginning of GoW 1 and it hasn't been fixed by now, do you ever think it's going to be fixed? I think not.

    I hope they fix the lag. This game just feels soooo unbalanced. I mean lancers destroying shotty close-up? The smoke grenades being thrown all over the place is just retarded. The sniper doesnt even register headshots.

    Well I read all the forum before diving in the MP of Gears 2, and well, I was thinking about buying the HD to the 360 to play it since I can't update live without it , and after reading all these problems I think I won't :P
    I had some lag problems with gears 1, and they were...enormous. I'm a FPS hardcore player on the PC and I really can't understand how it is possible to play without dedicated servers on the 360. It's impossible.

    I don't think it's only an Epic flaw, I played the training with bots in all the game modes and a system link session and the game works just fine, well the gameplay, exept for some glitches ( you fire at someone in cover and the bullets just pass thru doing no damage) and the maps, really cheap maps (most of them) but the gameplay is better than Gears1 (but yes..the shotgun is firing cookies).

    I think the main troubles here are lag and the matchmaking system as I can read from your posts. Same things happen on the pc when you join a +1000 ping server, but eveything goes just fine when you play with less than 80.

    I'm not paying for XboxLIVE if Microsoft doesn't spend gamers' money to add DEDICATED servers for each game with more than a 2 players mode.

    It's not only an Epic fault guys, the game is great, yes they just played with us a bit to sell their game showing us huge battles in trailers, because every company knows that the HYPE works well, but as long as you don't expect a miracle, Gears 2 single player campaign is one of the best experiences I had since Halo series(with Gears1 too) and LAN MP WORKS.

    I say this because I play Vegas2 on the PC and there are not DEDICATED servers...yes it's a weird thing, and we have huge lag, just because the host is playing and it has , in most cases, a normal Xdsl connection. But when I play it with my friends in my town everything goes just fine.

    It's only my opinion of course, shame to Microsoft, not to Epic.

    how is being sucked in by a chainsaw lag. lets make this in a reality point of view. ok if your trying to kill some guy with a chainsaw, its fairly heavy so you cant run with it. so when you want to chainsaw and your in striking distance you lunge a little " just enough to make sure you dont lose your hold on the chainsaw" and start grinding away. i mean who wants to finaly chainsaw some guy when your making out with him or you when your in striking distance. also the smoke i dont see your point of view, if you get smoked down stairs your going to hit your head so you would be down longer. but if they ever like teleport while down, ummm idk SHOOT AT THEM! lag switch is stupid though i hate that

    I don't think any weapon in gears of war is hitscan - and that isn't netcode.

    We will continue to improve this game. Hopefully some of the lag issues can be resolved as we continue to make improvements to matchmaking. One thing I've noticed is people are sometimes being inappropriately matched with people a long way away. We're going to talk to Microsoft to find out why their Trueskill system is returning hosts in distant regions and see if we can get them to reduce that likelihood.

    The issues you talk about from the 2nd sentence onward are not really related lag although a bad upstream connection from the host might make one weapon or another harder to use precisely. Let's not forget that the Gnasher is the #1 most lethal weapon in the game so clearly a large number of people are still wreaking havoc with it

    We do plan to do some multiplayer gameplay tweaks. I can't promise exactly when or that they'll be exactly the particular set of tweaks any one individual user desires but I assure you we're in this for the long haul and, as we did with Gears1, we will be continuing to improve this game for quite a while.

    Yes and thank in advance, but please, give us the choice to select a server (hosted game) with a numeric ping showed, it's the land of the free after all.

    Trueskill considers geographical location? Darn, and I thought it was just an equation to approximate a player's skill.

    If you manage to work that out with microsoft, you will have my no.1 issue (post matchmaking queue fix) covered I would love to meet more than 1 european per match and 1 english person per session!

    I know it isnt easy making a game and no game is perfect on release, just keep it up and ill be happy

    I think the gnasher being #1 in kills is a good sign that lag is a big factor in the games right now. Firing from cover or going for headshots just doesn't work w/ lag so ppl resort to close range shots with the gnasher. Same with the large amount of lancer chainsaw kills.

    when playing a match with no lag my shotty is unbeatable against any chainsaw!
    who says lag is not THE problem is absolutely wrong. GOW2 relies too much on the quality of net connection and this has greatly amplified the lag-related problems of this d@mned game. I honestly do not think to be far from the real cause of the mess is going on when playing online. Sadly I do not see how Epic could fix this since as stated thousands of times, they were not able to do the same thing with GOW1.
    Let's start a petition to have a public beta testing for GOW3 because that'll be the last hope for all of us!

    They will NEVER fix it! Because they make the game use OUR connections for hosting a game! OUR connections seemed to struggle on 8 players in a room - now we HAVE to host 10 connections!

    BUY some SERVERS epic for your games!!! Gears and Unreal!!!

    if we all had little to no lag, nobody would get pulled into the vortex that is the chainsaw
    The shotgun would actually do some goddamn damage

    Read his name, he knows about this subject.

    It won't be fixed probably in the lifespan of GoW 2. Maybe not ever. I personally think it has something to do with the graphics engine. That, or terrible net code that they just can't seem to wrap their minds around.
