Finally got done reading Aspho Fields, she's dead, it's confirmed.

"We were in the locust tunnels trying to find targeting crystals for the hammer. We found her body, off-limit's research area's." - Marcus.

It's in the last chapter i believe. But this finally proves that the queen isn't marcus' mother, and that she will most likely NOT be a part of the universe past E-Day

Well she was a scientist and marcus said professor fenix said she was investigating off-limit areas, i think fenix knew about the locusts before Emergence day, and when they hit, he knew what to do, but was killed (OR NOT Watch gears 2 credits for this ) and didn't get to tell marcus

Anyway, sooo Marcus' mom is dead and his father...isn't? I might have to get Aspho Fields if it actually explains the massive ammount of missing info in the story, not that it is a bad thing it keeps you geussing, but the only character who's story gets closure is Dom and people either empathize for him or just think he is a self centered douche.

Marcus' mom is dead, and there is a lot of speculation on whether or not his father is still alive. In all likely hood given the new series of events at the end of the second game, it is quite possible.

Gears of War: Aspho Fields is a very enlightening read because it really does fill in a lot of the gaps before Gears of War and in between Gears and Gears 2. I bought it before G2 and I couldn't put it down.
