Lulz. In my cheap attempt to get more TDM gameplay, I converted MP_Sanctuary to the gametype and even had a match. I learned one important thing: clearly, some maps just aren't designed for Lance. I also had problems with my character running into invisible obstacles along paths.
Still, I'm very interested in what maps could work. What about Courtyard? Or War Machine? Or should this little venture of mine end right now?
there're already some mp maps with bots out,but not this lance type....

All the levels are meant to be converted, sometimes it's just a little tricky.
As for the invisible obstacles you're talking about, I'm guessing it's a BSP issue, had that with converting Sabek (the copy paste thing), it was annoying as crap, the way I solved this is converting very complex BSP into a static mesh.
as i always say,
mp maps without bot option is nothing fun at all...........
maybe epic should hire kantham to do this job ....

I just have to say again how much I love these maps. My skill with some of the weapons has improved threefold since I started playing these. I could never get a proper feel for say the torque bow or longshot on live because of the lag. But now I'm taking heads off left and right. These are awsome for people who need practice. I also turned directionallightmaps back on and Wow what a difference! The framerate didn't suffer as much as I had first thought so I'm gonna leave it on.
Anyway.. the real reason for my post here is to talk about impossible sniper shots form the bots. They seem to be superhuman with the longshot. Once I was in the middle of a roll and got my head taken off. Not uncommon on Live but what was weird this time was that my body froze in mid air completely upsidedown with my neck leaking blood toward the ground. I had never seen that before so I tought it was odd and it seemed like an impossible shot. Another example, I often get the drop on these bots. Once I snuck up behind one with the long shot. He was facing away from me and I raised my Lancer and aimed. My first bullet left my Lancer and my head was gone before the second. The bot had time to swing around and take my head off and only got my first bullet. Thats not humanly possible. I'm not complaining here at all. I'm just wondering if anyone else notices that and if mabye there is something that can be improved in that area. In every other way however the bots are pretty weak. Sometimes they will sit there right in front of you trying to decide if they want to shoot you. They just seem to be masters of the longshot and nothing else. Anyway.. If anyone has anything to say on that please post....
What's causing this is that the AI is scripted to react very fast to any attacks you are leaving to them. Without any delay, the AI will get a sniper bullet out of his ass and headshot you instantly. So to "counter" this annoying "bug", what I do is I provoke them by blind fire while in cover.
It's a very annoying issue I am obviously not able to fix since the Uscripting is frozen and unpublished. I'd really like to though.

Lance version 2 is on the way. It has 1 new character for each faction, a lot of gameplay changes (Weapon balance, some AI stuff) and the whole new "fake" spawn protection that last 3.5 seconds after each time you spawn. Also, both COG and Locust have a spawning Wretch to hunt around with. And you can set the Player count (5v5 or 6v6)

Nice, though I assume you didn't implement the new Hammerburst? It's too easy to get killed by that thing.
Nah I didn't because I had issues with the sounds no one could help with, but the weapon was working just fine. I added the maximum ammo amount on each pistols, the Boltok feels quite near to the new hammer burst I made. Thus it's no big lost. The sniper works like in multiplayer, only actives can down in one shot, and the shotgun now shots 4 pellets instead of 6, and has a mag size of 6.
That's better. I always felt that for such a powerful weapon, the shotgun had too much ammo.

No, haven't figured it out. But that's no big deal I guess?
Oh and I forgot, the end cam is no more, when you win it just ends pretty much the same way as when you die, but the screen turns white, instead of bloody red.
Cheats are modifiable values. I've spend a hard time trying to balance the weapons, I recently heard some people play with 99999 AMMO and stuff like that. No wonder why the same exact persons ask for large scaled levels. I get it now.
Train people! Cheats doesn't help improving.
Anyway, if they want to use them it's their deal, I just hope they don't use them. The main goals of Lance are to improve and have fun.

but hey, i've finally started building my own lance map. hopefully it won't take me toooooo long to finish. i also hope i'll be able to execute the theme well so it'll look as good in the game as it does in my head![]()

Sounds like a great idea to improve Lancer mode. A new character sounds nice, i wonder what Cog will get. Anya, Jack? Anyway, i just hope for some new kickass maps. Kantham delivers it well.
Oh one question. Is there anyway you can make a Cog base and a Locust Base so our spawns won't scattered around the map? Take Gridlock as an example. Everyone starts on each sides and are running to the middle area to fight. A map with a Cog Base and a Locust base would be nice. Like Hydro-Station map from Unreal Tournament if you remember it. A CTF type of game just deathmatch with your own territory.

Just came across this great looking mod from another forum post and wanted to ask a couple questions before trying it out.
1. Can I play this mod with buddies or is it single player and bot teammates versus enemy bots only?
2. If you can play with buddies on a local LAN, can the ration be changed? For instance, can it be 2 versus 5 or 3 versus 6?

Yes.
It's basically the Theron and Kim models with new helmets on, with custom skins.
When you gib them the material is still on to.
I just made a major improvement to the AI, they now roadie run at you with a time interval, which kills this "Come hunt me I'm the camper AI" boring gameplay. In addition of that, they die just like your teammates now, you can not execute them anymore, this is much more enjoyable since you had to execute like 60 of them in each game, it got boring.
The AI also do special moves like Left/Right/Front/Backward rolls after they take a certain ammount of damage. Just to let you know, I barely hit one of these AI with my shotgun, he side roll, then chainsawed me, it was Epic.

So you don't have to make the gibs yourself? The game generates them depending on the material?
Also, once you've finished this, will installation be as simple as replacing the old .upk file? Or would the maps need to be updated?
