    Default which has better graphics????

I was wondering which has better graphics gears 1 or gears2 cause gears 1 has more of a colourful setting and gears2 has more of a dusty kinda setting although that does look more lifelike

Gears 2. If you've seen the Sink Hole demo on your TV or any very High Quality video, you can notice the incredible lighting details and the polished textures. The Dusty setting is because of Gridlock probably. It's Decaying and falling apart, not to mention in the sunset so it has somewhat an Orange/Brownish hue. If you look at other Videos in different locations, it doesn't look so 'dusty'.

I'm not really fond of the team-name 'Chainsawdomizers'. The current name partially implies that I like to f*** guys in the a**, which I'd rather avoid.-Shadow Dancer

I like the dusty and no-color appearance in GOW better than the failed attempt of a colorful, beautiful setting in Gears of War 2. A gears game with color is not gears to me.

It's not attempting to add colour so much, it's attempting to make a more visually stimulating look by not having everything all grey, and I gotta say, I personally love that.

I can see adding color in a forest but in a crumbling city the color should stay grey.

Well it still is, it's just got a little colour in there as well. Look at Security, that's a very "Gears 1" looking map (in colour terms I mean).

If anything I think it looks crisper...

They said they were adding a Hollywood Movie effect to the hue of everything, as apposed to Gears 1's Greyish hue to everything...

I can see why they would try and add a hollywood movie effect to the hue possibly due to the gears of war movie..

wow look what this ashole said about GOW:

Date Posted: 11/20/06 10:19am Subject: why gears of war sucks...
i'm not trolling here. just trying to get honest feedback. am i the only one who thinks gow is mostly hype? here's my gripe list.

    1. bugs - pushing objects liike cars is very inconsistent. sometimes they go all the way and sometimes they don't making it impossible to advance to the next stage. you must push car (and propane tank) all the way to get to lit areas at night in one stage. i had to constantly restart game so the bug would hopefully go away. this is required to pass the stage so i can't help but blame poor beta testing and a rushed gold disc.

    2. close combat - i defy anyone to tell me they can fight effectively in close combat. the camera freaks out and you have to pray the chainsaw works for you which brings me to...

    3. chainsaw - stupid gimmick. when it works, oh boy...run the little movie. it's all about timing. if you push the button just right, you're rewarded with an uninteractive movie of you cutting up a bad guy. if they give me a chainsaw, at least let me control it (like i could even in doom). i wouldn't care about this issue if the game wasn't so much about close quarters combat but almost every fight ends with some goon charging you and gow does not make it easy or fun.

    4. cover/run button - i like the idea of button layout simplicity but who hasn't jumped into cover accidentally while they're running. that's bad control design.

    5. ai - unimpressive. from easy to medium (i haven't tried hard yet) there is no ai difference except that it takes more shots to kill enemies. it appears that enemies react to your fire but all they really do is charge when you shoot them. watch it and you'll see. as for dom and other good ai...stupid. they constantly go down and i ignore them. has anyone actually needed ai assistance in this game?

    6. grenades - grenades need to land on top of bad guys in order to do anything? i'm not looking for super grenade power but aren't the point of grenades to land nearby and do damage.

    7. weapon design - uninspired. two rifles are identical except for rate of fire. sniper rifle doesn't work often. i aim at a head, the reticule is red, there are no obstructions and nothing. his head doesn't blow off or anything. not sure if it's another bug or i'm just expecting a sniper rifle to actually kill with a headshot.

    8. networking - all next gen games should have minimum of 32 players. we all know it can be done and it only makes an action packed networkable experience more action packed. 8 players is boring. every battle i tried ended in someone rushing someone else with the chainsaw. this happened in battles i participated in as well as ones i watched and both instances were boring.

even if i had only 1 or 2 gripes total, i still wouldn't call this a halo killer (yes i know it's not trying to be like halo but it's trying to break halo sales records). i'm no halo fanboy but the weapons, grenades, close combat, vehicle use and networking all fall way short of halo. enough halo comparisons.

the graphics look nice. possibly the best looking next gen to date but that's not saying much since all next gen games have been a let down for everyone so far in the graphics dept. the duck and cover system is fairly original but just doesn't lend itself to any smooth action. the pacing is stuttery but that might fall under personal preference. sound is ok but nothing amazing.

i am halfway through the game and not sure if i should bother finishing it. can anyone tell me honestly, should i continue or is this just not my cup of tea?
