Default How To Contact Epic? Regarding the Amazon Lancer

Is there a contact email anywhere for Epic Games? I can't seem to find one anywhere on their site.

I'll put my argument here anyway, however I have little doubt it will be ignored, hence the request for the email.

I would like to request that Epic break their exclusivity deal with Amazon.com for the Lancer replica pack. This is the second time within a month where I have been told about a fantastic item which appeals to me as a fan of a franchise and as a collector, but have immediately discovered is totally, without doubt unavailable to me, solely because I don't live in the USA. Where do I live, Botswana? Timbucktoo? No, the sodding UK. Hardly the back of beyond you'll agree.

No, the unavailability of these items is not due to my location, but instead to Amazon.com's policy of restricting ANY limited run item on which it has exclusive rights to "Domestic Shipping, one per-household only", and it's even more restrictive definition of "exclusive" not extending to it's own international subsidiary sites(.co.uk .fr .ca .au etc etc).

This, frankly, makes me feel as if Epic Games(and, indeed, Bethesda Softworks, but that's for another forum) doesn't value it's international customers. It's an attitude which seems to be spreading amongst American-based games developers and it really irritates the hell out of me. Is my money not good enough for you? Why is it that I should have to end up paying four to ten times the value of these collector's items IMMEDIATELY after their release, buying them from gougers, people with no connection with your games at all who have bought these items purely to profit from the fact that I and others fans like me do not reside in the US, if I wish to own them?

Anyway as I say, I fully expect this to be ignored, just as my request for Bethesda to release the Survival Edition of Fallout 3 in the UK was ignored, but if you don't play, you can't win eh?

Here is the link for you: http://forums.epicgames.com/sendmessage.php. There is actually a "contact us" link on the bottom of the main page for all of Epic's forums.

Sigh. Epic are more than aware I'm sure. Seriously, don't you think Epic know that people in the UK want it too? I'm from the UK and I'm annoyed too, but it's got nothing to do with that. And it's AMAZON's fault for annoying shipping regs, not Epic.

Firstly, these won't be easy to make. They won't have made enough to supply worldwide so they are only on Amazon.com

Secondly, they will probably come to the UK at a later date. In fact, teaming up with Amazon was the best thing Epic could have done for this, since the lancer has more chance of coming to the UK than with any other company using Amazon - if they'd chosen Gamestop, we'd probably never have seen it.

And finally, it's a glorified cool gun. A fricken cool one yes, but still nethertheless a toy gun. Get over it, accept it, and be happy we are getting the game DAY AND DATE with the Americans - a rare feat in itself. Praise Epic for that, and move on.

    I don't want this to turn into a flamewar, so I'll simply say this;

Things have different values to different people. I'm a collector of game-related merchandise. I, unsurprisingly then, value this sort of collectible far more than the average player. It is not just "a cool toy gun" to me, it's a rare item to add to my collection of rare items.

There is not more chance of this item coming to the UK through Amazon, in fact, there is almost zero chance, unless Amazon.com have suddenly changed their policies in the last three weeks, which was when I recieved the response "never, it's a US exclusive due to it's limited run" to my question "will the Fallout 3 Survival edition be released through your .co.uk site?". In fact, it would have more chance if they had gone with ANY other distribution partner.

And no, the fault does not solely lie at the door of Amazon.com, their policy on this matter is well known, and Epic must have signed a contract which included this clause. Epic are not beyond reproach here. But I'm not some crazed loon, I'm not going to fly to the US and go Columbine in Epic's offices, I'd just like to see some kind of resolution to this problem which results in the item being available to overseas customers. Is that a lot to ask?

My understanding is that the bundle is being done between Neca and Amazon. Not sure we had a role in it.

Ouch. You got the wrong people. seems joeGraf is correct. Epic made a deal and let Neca make the Lancer, and the people from Neca found the highest bidder, aka Amazon, to distribute it, and there you go... Epic remains faultless

...which is run as a seperate company and rarely gets to take advantage of the same exclusivity deals as it's parent site. They might as well be competitors as far as this sort of item is concerned.

Anyway I've sent a request for info to Neca, hopefully I'll get at least a definate answer as to whether this will see the light of day abroad(Halo 3 Legendary did after all....just), I'll let you know if I hear anything.

I hear you man. That sucks that you can't get it over in the UK. But it has nothing to do with Epic....the lancer is made by a seperate company.

I have an idea for you though.....what if you had it shipped to a P.O. Box in the U.S. and then have all your mail fowarded from that P.O. box to your address in the UK. A little more expensive than just buying it....but way less than getting it on eBay from one of those rat bastard price gougers.

    Just a thought.

I can't get it here in Canada either. I could get it if I had someone ship it over, but then I think I'll use that money to pre-order both Gears 2 and Banjo-Kazooie. I'll wait for a better Lancer to come out (if one does), and hopefully it'll have a revolving chainsaw bayonet. That would be sweet.

Well, there are some sites that help with delivering that kind of stuff - they order it for you to their US address and then resend the package to you. I just got exactly that bundle. Sadly I can't download the Gold-plated Lancer cause it's another "Unavailable for your location" item.

The flashback map pack is one of the main reasons I bought this title... not the "toy gun" so When will I be able to download these maps? I am really annoyed...

Yeah, it's Amazon and NECA - also the UK/Europe was supposed to get the "Golden Lancer".

Than thanks God I ordered from Amazon. Gold-plated one sure looks nice in the game, but when it comes to replicas I prefer traditional one.

Yeah, I read that the laws in England prevent the import of replica weapons, even outrageous ones like the Lancer. The way around it is to paint it gold.
So, unfortunately it looks as if the UK won't get a replica Lancer besides the gold one.
