    Map - Deathmatch (PC/PS3) DM-Bagger [Pics] [Download]

    Name: DM-Bagger

    Version: Final

    Compatibility: PC. PS3.

    Description: Hey folks,

I've been working on this map now for about three months, it's got custom meshes and textures and uses stock sounds and game-play assets to deliver a unique experience for Unreal Tournament 3.

Instead of settling for a generic "room-corridor-room" design, I chose to do something fundamentally unique. Something you've never played before. The most important thing I feel for me as an amateur level designer working on this in my spare time, is to deliver something a little bit. Ok. A LOT different. To whacky for a professional company to afford to do. To settle for the game-play and graphical issues, here, un-avoidable by design and to just.. go for it!

Just to do this insane excavator on the planet Venus, you know, and just making it play and look AS GOOD AS I CAN isn't that what it's all about?

Enjoy this map. With its sheer innovativity and kick-assery. That's what DM-BAGGER has to offer!

    Lock-'n-load.

Credits: Krupp for making the machine that heavily inspired me, Hourences for his tutorials, the folks here asking/answering questions, Epic for making this game and editor plus keeping a fairly solid UDN documentation site and, of course last but not least, the Internet - for photographs to base my custom textures from.

It looks great. Kudos for the design and originality.

However, the bots have quite a hard time getting the hang of the jumps and the narrow ladders, so in my mind it's not for single play. It's also very "different" compared to other maps playing it in multipaly.

Overall for the looks alone, this was well worth the download for me, but I won't be playing it too often. This is just my opinion thought, I'm sure many people will be playing it over and over. Nevertheless would be great to see more maps from you. cheers Kev Boy.

As promised folks, I've cooked it up for the PS3 (North American).
I've only seen those around here is a European version still necessary as a separate cook for European PS3 gamers?

Blitz, I didn't dumb it down if you feared that.. hehe, though I did make the lava a volume that doesn't kill you instantly though you have to be quick to get out alive!

Nice man ... looking forward to seeing how this plays on the PS3. I was hoping this map would find its way to the PS3 actually. It just feels like the sort of level you play on a big screen. Thanks.

{BFG}Bl!tz~ one way I found was to double jump on the tracks of the vehicle (near the front and the back edges of the tracks where they are lower) then find the boots on one of the middle tracks and get to the top.

It's an interesting map, but I think you should've put some sort of force field around the mining machine to explain why the players can survive there.
If I'm not mistaking in the map story, you say the action takes place on Venus, where a human body would be turned into a carbonized lump of matter in no time.

Yes I know I'm nitpicking. Anyway, nice work man.

That's exactly the way. I actually had to make a few blocking volumes as a sort of slope to make it possible. Hehehe.

I didn't even know this was released until last night... was relying on thread subscription email but you just never posted to the beta thread again.

Anyway, I was one who didn't want the map dumbed down with less lethal lava and stuff, but what you did turned out OK. You still die pretty quick if you end up in the lava, and instantly if you fall from a distance still.

The bot activity is much better now, with the changes to the spawn points. I like the one way up on the guy wires, with the sniper rifle too.

It's still a nasty, sadistic, evil map... thanks

I am so happy you decided to release this for PS3, I've had my eye on it for a while, plan to try it tonight. I'm looking forward to walking the catwalks with guns blazing! I also have to agree with Grogan on the "paperwork"... there are still Three seperate Beta threads open, and one "Poll" thread. You gotta shut those down, man. At least post on the first and/or last pages that this s now final, maybe even with a link to this thread. Thanks!

Filefront is probably the best of all of those sites for me (Canada here)... I download around 650 kb/sec from whatever filefront mirrors I get directed to and it's hassle free. Click one button to start the download and then immediately close the browser tab.

For me it became annoying as soon as I was notified I have to register. But the real problem is, even after registering I always get a message "This file is not available at the moment", meaning I cant use it. That is about the worst a download site can get... not being able to download. lol

Filefront? I've never been prompted to register there. I just click a big orange "Download Now" button and my download starts immediately. I've heard of others having problems there, but I just assumed it was routing rather than deliberate sabotage.

I just close anything that wants me to register (other than, say, to leave comments in a forum or blog or something... registration is understandable then).

I dont know, it wouldnt let me proceed without registering. There is a possibility you registered in the past and forgot about it, but your browser's cookies automatically log you in each time you visit a filefront page. If you look carefully on their pages you should see your username somewhere.

Look, if the US PS3 cook ain't compatible with the European PS3 then I can do a separate cook. There is, afterall, an option for it in the cooking tools. I just thought it might've been obsolete since I don't see other people post them.

Jake, try the US PS3 version and if it doesn't work just post, and I'll cook/upload a specific EU version too

Don't know what the difference is between the two cooking options (unless it relates to the folder structure that was region-specific before the first PS3 patch), but the North American version you've posted works fine on my EU PS3 Only had a quick run through though, will post back with comments once I've taken it for a proper test drive.

Thanks for cooking it, though - was looking forward to this one from the start

Your map plays awesome, I however, do not... This map takes skill to play, you have to fight and watch your step at the same time. The map itself is great, large and complex, visually very well done. The placement of the pickups is devious, getting around takes some getting used to, and the Bots get stuck once in a while if you have them turned down, but if you turn them up they Own your a$$ from the sniper roost way at the top. Thats why I say, this is not a map for the faint of heart. If you don't mind dying a lot until you find your way around better, this is perfect for you. If you learn this map and play people who don't know it, you will dominate. Thats every map, but this one more so, I think. Excellent idea, originality, and layout, but easy to fall and die. It's fun to use the Stinger secondary fire to shove people off the catwalk to fall and die. However, when you take a chance and go for something out there, it's easy for them to do it to you, so you have to expose yourself to get power-ups.

I tried it in the end and it works great, so thanks. I've downloaded maps that say they're for America before with no problems so IDK why I didn't just try this in the first place tbh.

It's a nice, original map which I'll be playing for a while to come. One small gripe (which I guess could be seen as part of the fun) - it's often really hard to see where you're being shot at from + you fall off a lot lol!

    Anyway, nice work!

    Kev_Boy,

Compliments: Great looking map! Very original, as you said. Totally different than almost any other map out there.

Constructive criticism: The narrow catwalks and stairways make the map kind of annoying to play on. A lot of running into railings on tight corners.

Anyway, keep it up! I'd love to see a follow up.

Definitely not, I clear cookies and all browsing data on exit in my Windows Firefox browser. I see a login field, and a register button in the upper right when I go to a download link there, but it doesn't make me use it. I just click the orange Download Now button and my download starts instantly. I then close that light box ad and the browser tab because the flashing crap on the page annoys me.

If you get knocked down by a near-by Redeemer, and you're near a walkway railing, you can get your foot stuck and dangle there until an enemy comes to liberate you by death. It's only happened to me twice but when it does.. it's the best death you'll ever have

Well I read the whole thread and no one mentioned anything about falling through the lifts as they went up. Damn frustrating. Every one of them I would get about half way up and fall through. What is up with that? I have had that issue on other maps too as well as my own map where I have only 1 lift. Has anyone else experienced this? Judging from the fact that it hasn't been brought up I guess it is isolated but I wish I knew what to do about it.
