just out of curiosity, not to be rude at all, but what is the point of these things?

Wow, thanks a lot for these. I just have one problem. With all of the pictures buried in their respecitive folders, there really isn't an easy way to search through everything. Am I missing something? Is there a html file or something that would let me seach through it all easier?

I don't know about anyone else, but I would use these as a reference to look up where different static meshes and materials are stored in the game files. It will make searching for that one specific brick texture a lot easier.

well, so a leveldesigner doesn't have to open all those packages and look for meshes or materials to use - after all this would mean quite a memory usage. this way you go easy on your ram and have it all more or less at hand.
(GoW's editor hits the 1gb mark in memory usage pretty fast on my rig.)

@topic: good job, man. i would prefer a different preview for the materials, though. the square preview works better imo. but that's just my personal preference so please don't get me wrong - i appreciate the effort and this will definitely come in handy!

    Thumbs up

Pol29, thaks alot for this. I have been using the ones available for UT3 for some time now:
    http://download.beyondunreal.com/fil...s%20Viewer.zip
    http://download.beyondunreal.com/fil...age-viewer.zip
This should be even more useful since loading packages is one of the main things (for me anyway) that causes the editor to crash. Im still waiting to download these (filefront error), but Im sure they will be great
Thanks again for all your work.

Thanks, this might come in handy. I'd only suggest that you throw away the thumbs.db files - they're in every folder and take up unnecessary space.

This should be even more useful since loading packages is one of the main things (for me anyway) that causes the editor to crash.
Have you tried unloading the packages you don't need ATM? I know it's tedious, but it conserves some RAM. Also, if you haven't done it already, assign automatic swap file for a partition where you have the game/editor installation. You may experience slight performance drop while navigating your map due to the disk usage but you won't have something like 1,5 gig of RAM taken up by the editor

A god send because my Gears Editor keeps crashing if I ask it to do things.

Good work, it save a lot of time to explore if you know what are you searching or explore for new materials or mesh. Thanks.

So, where do you want the flowers and the box of chocolates sending to?

This is such a great asset to have, cheers.

I wish I had seen this before I did my first detail pass. I would have done things VERY differently if I had known where all these meshes were.
