    Mutator (PC) Released: BattleRPG V6 now with artifacts!

    A completely operational RPG for UT3!

    Features levels, experience, Mana, magic weapons, artifacts and FULL ability management. Has abilities like weapon speed, vampirism and quick foot, artifacts like god mode, spiderpig and Mana gambling and magic like rage, ultra gib and invisibility. It also has a custom RPG scoreboard, a custom RPG HUD, etc. Includes UT3 Invasion and Galtanors Invasion and custom versions of BattleRPG made to work together with them.

    Go to http://www.onsrpg.com/battlerpg.php for download (including full source code), a player manual, an administrator manual and a developer manual.

    New in V6:
    * Implemented 9 artifacts: Double Damage, God Mode, Flight, Spiderpig, Bonus, Kamikaze, Magic Weapon Maker, Max Magic and Mana Gambling.
    * Replaced 100 Mana bonus with the bonus artifact.
    * You now get bonus XP for killing someone with a much higher level than you.
    * Magic weapons now show how much extra damage they do.
    * Ultra GIB now had 5 levels with 50% extra damage per level.
    * The UT3 Invasion scoreboard now shows RPG levels (donated by Rodney Powers).

    I've got a question. Is the mod only capable of working with onslaught or invasion? or will it work with any gametype?

    Correct. I tested it with DM, TDM, CTF, VCTF and Warfare. It also contains custom versions for UT3 Invasion and Galtanors Invasion. The only thing I never tested it with is Duel.

    My servers are not running it yet, I will probably install it there tomorrow morning, do not want to disturb the crowd currently playing there.

    hi i tried cooking your mutator for ps3 and it worked. But when I add it and start a game, the game never finishes loading (infinite loading screen).

    Do you know by what that could be caused?

    I thought the PS3 only allowed script only mutators. So perhaps the scoreboard in BattleRPG is the cause of the problem. Are there any debugging tricks for the PS3? Or is it binary (it works or it doesn't)?

    external packages are allowed as my successes with the ripper and jetboard mutators prove (they both use custom models and textures and they show up in the game)

    and there is no debugging on ps3

    Wonder why galtanor can compile to a difrent version and you not
    And if ya gonan release every fiew days a new version stick it in the beta releases ..

    only noobs upload files from there own server or ppl with 100mbit ,,, so please fix the version nr .u

    Im not mad at you just iritate me i cant use it :P

    It sounds like a redirect is used with a wrong version of BattleRPG. My administrators manual (http://bigbattleservers.com/forum/vi...php?f=24&t=725) has a section on this. (You probably already read it, but others follow this thread as well.)

    UT3 redirect server considerations
    Since there are 3 versions of BattleRPG.u, this causes some problems for people who can only use 1 redirect server (directory) for multiple servers or have to use a public shared redirect server. Especially since UT3 handles redirection a lot less smart than UT2004 did. If the redirect has a different version of the .u the game will not start for the client.

    There is a trick to work around this. You can use the Invasion versions of BattleRPG just like the regular one (it supports all game types, not just Invasion). So you could use that same version on a "regular" BattleRPG server and also on a Invasion BattleRPG server. Unfortunately UT3 then requires the Invasion mod to be installed but BattleRPG only does the actual Invasion tricks if Invasion is selected as gametype. Several servers (including my own servers) are using this trick and it works fine. It also allows players to switch servers without having to restart UT3.

    Since Galtanors Invasion seems to be the most popular one, for public redirect servers it is probably best to use the latest Galtanors Invasion version of BattleRPG on those. This allows everyone to use all regular gametypes (assuming they also install Galtanors Invasion, even if they do not use it) and Galtanors invasion.

    I hope a future patch of UT3 will bring redirection handling at least to the same level as that of UT2004 which would allow a much cleaner solution to this problem.

    Several people have suggested this problem could also be solved by giving all different versions of BattleRPG different names (different .u files). Unfortunately due to the way UT3 UI Scenes and UI Panels work, this would take up a lot of development time. And I prefer to spend that development time (of which I only have a limited amount) on useful enhancements to the mutator. Or, one can always dream, perhaps even have some time left to actually play the game . If someone else feels like spending time on this, or knows a trick to work around the UI Scenes/Panels problem, please let me know.

    BattleMode; for whatever reason that weird bug fixed itself in V6, great job so far!

    I don't know if you knew; all monsters in UT3 invasion give 10 EXP rather then 1. xD

    Yes I know, for some reason UT3 Invasion gives you 10 points for killing 1 monster. I do not know why the maker of UT3 Invasion does that. Good to know it now works for you.

    Nice work, I wish I had as much free time like you appear to have. Trying to get a career in my field has taken up most my time so I try to cram as much coding into the free time I do have. Unfortunately its not enough time to get my RPG mutator completed. I am rewriting most of my code for it now to clean up the left over code from when I didn't know much about replicating new actor classes.

    Spiderpig is a character from The Simpsons movie. He has Spiderman like powers and so does the Spiderpig artifact. It is not extremely useful but you can do some special things with it. E.g. climb steep mountains and find a nice camping spot. Don't forget to jump.

    I know how to change artifact but dont know which key to activate ..

    hehe i have a similar problem ^^

    I think the [] keys are for changing the artifacts, but it doesn't work for me.
    The U key activates the artifact. It says "You feel very strong"

    Got some questions to ask.. Sorry dude but I find it didn't work with my Built 1.1.0.0 version game.
    After finishing the installation of the mod, I picked the files in the package and started the game. And I can see the mod "battleRPG" in my mod sector, so I added it then started a single player game with some bots. And I just found that the mod didn't effected to my game, I pressed L and I didn't see the OPTION MENU, and with the leaderboard there aren't any info for levels or XPs either.
    Please someone can tell me how do I play the Instant Game with BattleRPG?
    Step by Step please thanks very much.

    You need to press the U key for that (it also mentions this in the HUD in case you forget this). I intend to make it configurable in a future version.

    Activation and artifact switching is working fine for me. No problems at all

    Kamikaze is useful if i manage to get near a power node in 1 piece

    2.Choose gametype
    3.choose map
    4.there is a Mutator thingy where "Play game" "next" ect is click it
    5.scrool down till you see "BattleRPG"
    6.double click it
    7.Press accept
    8.Press "next" or "play game"

    IF this won't help you then i am a failure to explain stuff and your a failure to undertand stuff.

    Listen i know you have a nice site with explains, but you not realy anwser my question, or forget to read the v5 topic , when i use the regular . that is on th redirect server it loads , but there is only a menu , there is no scores or lvl just nothing happend !!!!

    Second is it realy inposible to compile to toher version name ?
    What software u use , i know only how compile on linux no on xp !
    Lemme try it then ,,, i wanna test the mod but i cant test online !

    Well thats good to know . If it doesn't work perhaps some INI has wrong content. A lot of people got it working (both with servers and standalone) so it should be possible to get it working. What you describe sounds as a conflict with another mutator.

    It's not impossible, but it is a lot of work due to the way UT3 UI Scenes and Panels work. UT3 has its own compiler, which is what I use. I use Windows for UT3 development.

    I really like the artifacts. First gambling, then either godmode or kamikaze ^^

    Question: I noticed that most of the enchants now also have extra dmg. Is this normal or a bug?

    Yes they are all running V6 now, I upgraded them this morning.

    Do you mean the weapon magic? This did not change from V5 to V6, the only difference is that you now can see how much the damage of the weapon is changed.

    No. For instance i got: "Invisibility +3 (Damage +15%)" - something like that

    I've been reading up on this a bit and came to the forum basically to ask about this mod.

    I saw that someone tried to cook it for the ps3, but to no avail. Do you have any plans of making this available for the PS3? I've already mentioned this specific mod over at ps3forums.com and there are other interested people beside myself.

    Other than that, keep up the good work.

    You're not a failure man, I have exactly the same problem with a 1.04 Beta, French version : the mutator just not load when I play in instant action. I tried with only this mutator activated : it's the same. In Mutliplayer mode, I just have the Level, Mana & Exp meters on the HUD, nothing more, I can't access to the abililities menu.

    There's maybe some files who aren't putted in the right directory, but I followed as strictly as possible the Readme...
