    Is it possible to just make the changes in the ini without loading the mut? Because i'd like to play with more color on every server and not just on my own dedicated.

    would be great if you extend it to postprocessing control mut, like color balance, bloom etc.
    And adding text config for per map settings would be awsum! I am sayin text ini because doing all ui for it would be too much to ask

    Awesome! One of the things I preferred in the older Uts were more vibrant colors, and this will help.. it should also make it easier to spot enemies across the field...

    An amazing mut. I'll be using this for sure, now if only Epic's next patch will allow for muts to STAY on the list.

    dont the "vivid" and "intense" postprocessing options boost the color like this?

    Yeah but you'd loose other effects which you'd really want to keep.

    Dont know why, but i like desaturated colors more; looks more realistic, and less distorting.

    No. The mutator adjusts a map specific setting. However, you could try to bind the following console command to a key, which basically does what the mutator does (though I don't think it'll work online):
    set postprocessvolume settings (scene_desaturation=0)

    Perhaps I will, though perhaps not all postprocessing can be adjusted in a mutator. Reducing some of the postprocessing effects might also not make things better in any way... but to each his own, and that is the point of a mutator.

    You mean restore more than 30%? No, I can only restore what was drained. Most maps have 20%-30% desaturation. This value cannot be used to colorize the game by setting it below 0%.

    Not like this. They also affect bloom and contrast (at the very least), which in turn remove some color.

    Next version will allow you to de-saturate as well as re-saturate, but for the moment you could try this console command and see if you like the game better with 20% less color:
    set postprocessvolume settings (scene_desaturation=0.5)

    An excellent mutator-idea
    Remember to keep it stupidly simple, because that makes it easier to debug and it gives the users a better idea as to what the mutator can do.

    I think that a separate mutator for contrast, bloom, etc. is a better idea than something that tries to adjust all of them at once.
    Q : Why ask Epic, when we can mutate the hell out of this game ?
    A : Because we need their help for the low-level stuff like a way to change the voicepacks for characters ...

    This is a nice idea for a mutator - after all the moaning about a lack of colour I'm interested to see if the majority genuinely do think Epic's maps look better with the desaturation disabled.

    I just want vibrant 'arcade-y" colors because it's easier to distinguish things when yer flying along fast in a raptor, or even on a hoverboard. UT uses a faster game speed them most other games, so you need additional visual reference IMHO to help with that. (We used to always play UT2004 at 120% speed.)

    Wow nice, i always thought that GOW and UT were too grayish, with this mutator things will look a bit "happier" thanks for the mut Xyx


    PS: just tried it...I LOVE IT i would really like that every server out there use this mut

    Go to your gfx driver and put the DIGITAL VIBRANCE up !!!!

    Works a lot better

    nah its not the same digital vibrance enhance colors that already exist (are visible), whats the point of making a grey GREYER??!!


    this mutator obviously works wonderfully

    That's like compensating for lack of brightness by pumping up the gamma. You never get back exactly that which was lost.

    Not to mention that it affects all 3d applications then, not just UT3

    There has to be an ini setting somewhere that handles this.. or is it coded into maps individually?

    You've got to be kidding me.. THIS is why some of Epic's maps have sh*tty pink instead of good solid reds? does this affect player colors also? I look forward to trying this out, but what Epic really needs to do is create a way to control this via the ini so we can have proper color on all online matches... requiring a mut for that is stupid.. but I give you kudos for bringing the problem to attention and offering a solution.

    I believe it is coded into maps individually. More specifically, into PostProcessVolumes that are placed in maps. Sometimes into the map's properties itself, too. I'm not saying there is no central game-wide ini value, but if there is I haven't heard about it.

    Thanks a lot, Xyx! This one's definitely a keeper. It's amazing how much better the game looks.
    Epic should really have remembered that just because certain things can be done with next-gen tech, doesn't mean that they should. Overdone desaturation is certainly one of them (though I have to admit that it fits GoW... but not UT), extreme bloom would be another... And if things like that are in, they should at least be configurable. It's quite a shame, that we have to rely on mutators for that this time around, but I'm glad it's done at all, so once more big props to ya!

    Epic needs to make a new post-processing option that does this without the need for a mutator. It improves the game vastly.

    They should have included it, because it's definitely a personal taste. I like how the colors are now as they are more realistic and gritty and dirty. However there are some classic remake maps here that have a lot more color than the standard level set. Kinda like the arenas were just made. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a monitor problem for some people too.

    Consider this mutator in the next release of the UT3 Tweaker

    UT3T has over 2000 downloads every 48 hours, so with the next release, the users will be able to install your mutator at a click of a button

    I have sigs turned off since I don't care about peoples' system specs.

    Anyway... feel free to include the mutator, but keep in mind that this is still a beta.
