    Map - Capture the Flag (PC/PS3) CTF-Griever[NOW WITH PS3 VERSION]

    Changes from beta 3: Not a lot, a bit of bot pathing and lighting iirc

    Description: Taken from the map description: Description=Liandri were building an underground shopping center dedicated to merchandise related to the tournament but half way through building it they thought "WTF R WE DOING LOL" and turned it into a capture the flag arena.

    Comments: This is the final version of my first UT3 map.
    Map is fully pathed for bots.

    Looks nice! I wont be able to play till friday now due to shops being shut and me needing a new GFX card... but could you make a video of it an youtube it? or someone else? Would be intresting to see the map in progress

    Cool!! I was wondering what happened to this level and really hoping you would finish it up. I'll definitely take it for a spin later and let you know what I think. Great job on delivering man and thanks for making the content for us.

    Anuban: I had some trouble getting the music to work properly. (I didn't realize you had to [or even could] set the sound type to Music in the browser - which caused the music volume to be controlled by the ambiance slider in the menu. - Special thanks to Sefyra for helping me with this!) That delayed me a day or two

    Wow Sabo, after playing this map I just want to say: Great job mate! This level plays very well, fast and tight. Just how I like it. Also you did an amazing job with the lighting/post-porcessing. The colors are very vibrant, and it all just looks great. Keep up the excelent work mate.

    downloaded twice. both times it said the ut3 file in the archive was corrupt. Map looks good though
    This signature would self destruct but your anti-virus has already defused it.. :/

    Yeah man I really really like how this level turned out ... very well done and tons of fun ... talk about crazy ... 5 on 5 with this level was insane and very fun. Anyway the only things I didn't like were the heavy blur effect on the tall green buildings ... they are just to close to have that much blur and it takes away from the visuals. The other thing is that the bots can shoot through the fence and I take damage ... which is totally bogus. If it near their base you know when you go into that one area that has lots of ammo and is a mess ... well there is a chainlink fence and Rockets and flak just go right through it. Now if you could do something about that man would I be grateful. But anyway killer map, lots of fun and definitely a keeper. Congrats.

    when the file link is not corrupted can a few of you guys rate this map? I prefer to only download maps with a higher rating so that I dont download a billion custom maps and then end up deleting half once i play them for the first time.

    @anuban: there are several maps that shipped with the game in which a fence type of texture is used and all projectiles go through them so it very well may have been his intent or it is possible that that is the default and he didn't realize it

    That is a good point ... it is just annoying because they should not be able to hit me from that vantage point ... it does add more challenge though. But I wanted to bring it up in case he wasn't aware this was the case.

    I think it needs a few dark areas. Hate maps with lit up flat lights, however lots of great verticles! Yay for us rocket using fools!

    So sorry about the corrupt download everybody, I couldn't check on it yesterday because I was horribly ill (WORST CHRISTMAS EVER!).
    Download should work now.

    Can anyone provide a mirror?

    Good ... barring some major bug/exploit there really doesn't need to be any changes and you need to get to work on another type of map. Preferably TDM. Although more good CTF maps can't hurt either.

    Oh and I actually didn't have an issue with the download ... strange.

    Download works again for me

    I'm sorry to say this, but you still got a small bug- so you'll have to edit it

    In the 'midfield' where that 'glass' is - the 'forcefield' - if you stand with your back against it and you type 'dropflag' in console, the flag will be 'dropped' on the other side of the forcefield and it'll drop on the ground.
    The first time i tried this, the flag 'dropped' on the other side, but it didn't fall down, it was still on the same height as the forcefield. (i can't do this atm, weird, but it did - so you'd better fix it )

    He better fix it? Not can you please fix it ... just because YOU have ONE issue you demand he rebuild the map? Ummm .. tell you what ... why don't you learn how to map and then try to create a map and aim for perfection. See how far you get ... and see how much you like people nitpicking over small issues that clearly only affect them and then they don't even ask you nicely to fix it. Hmmphhff ... just deal with it and let him move on to his next map and he can watch for that issue on that map. Not even Epic makes totally perfect levels ...

    Anyway it is his call but I know I would probably just move on ... you know level developers do get tired of working on the same thing over and over .. and especially for a fix that may affect only a handful of people ... this is definitely not even close to a showstopper. However, this is not my level so if the author feels differently then you are in luck.

    Denk/Anuban: Yeah I'm not going to re-release the map for that. The only way it will become and issue is if clans start using it for competitions etc. In which case a new version will no doubt be made called CTF-Griever-CE or something.

    Thanks for letting me know about that bug though (you would have thought epic would have found a way to code a dropflag command that didn't go through walls though ffs)

    Yeah then you would have to create a new version .. CE would be the title for certain. But that would be a good thing ... as you would get more exposure and who knows where that can lead.

    Seeing as how a lot of people probably didnt know about this map until now. Any chance of getting a ps3 cook of it? I'm sure it will get a lot more exposure if you do so.

    Hah, the entire time I was reading this thread, I was hoping someone would ask. Thanks for posting the request. I hereby dub you "Cook request guy". We should play some maps on the PSN sometime. I see you are with the community and possibly have a couple of maps on your PS3. Add me if you want to, ID is the same as the Forum handle I use here.

    Out of topic aside, this map does look very good. Reminds me alot of UT99 in a way with the logos and so forth. I look forward to the cook if its going to be available.

    Well Sabo if you do decide you want to release a PS3 version you may want to make a small change to the soundtrack since it is custom. Otherwise the PS3 runs the map well and I can't see any bugs at a quick glance ... if you have other custom sounds or music just remember that they don't play on the PS3. But lots of PS3 users don't care about music playing when they are playing a level so if you do want to just release the PS3 version as is then let me know and I will pm you the link to the file.

    Anuban, I'm not entirely sure how cooking for PS3 works, from what you said it sounds like you don't need the un-cooked version to do it. Is the way you've done it at all disadvantageous ? If not, please PM the link. I'd like to release only the CE version on PS3 as I prefer it.

    You dont "need" it but sometimes it wont cook without a source file. Also like Anuban said, custom sounds dont work on the ps3.

    Nope the level is fine ... just the issue with custom sounds. If you don't mind the level being barren of music then release the file I am going to pm you. If not then make a quick version with some stock music and then send me the uncooked file and I will cook it for you.

    Yeah been pretty busy so I didnt really get to play for a long while. But, I do know that I did like the map.

    For whatever reason I was a little confused finding my way around to each base exactly, but I managed. Other than that I liked the style a lot and one of the ctf maps that I'll be playing some more for sure.

    Have to agree with NyghtcraweR, inasmuch as the map's not as intuitive as some but was able to find my way around without trouble by the end of one CTF game. Like the layout, plays very well & looks good. I'll be playing it a fair bit too Thanks
