I prefer 1st person and I never whined about not having it in Gears because it would change the way the game was meant to be played.
In every 3rd person shooter I've played, and even gears, people just take advantage of the 3rd person pov to stand behind a corner and peak while being hidden until someone gets close enough. Imagine someone doing that with a flak cannon or charged up bio or rocket launcher.
Also in deathmatch, 3rd ppov players will have the huge advantage of a much higher viewing area both vertically and horizontally. People who prefer 1st person shouldn't feel forced to change their view just to not feel disadvantaged, after all, it's the 1st person pov player that this series was made for.
Again, I am a console gamer, haven't played PC FPS since the CS1.6 prime days, and I agree that anyone whining about not having a 3rd person view in a UT game should stick to playing GoW, Warhawk, or wait for the next Socom.
Sorry about the rant, but you'd think that so many people who waited for the release of this game would have accepted the fact that it is a FPS beforehand and not "oh well, I guess they'll have to change the way it's meant to be played just cuz I bought it and prefer it differently".
