Wow, just wow. The textures are just out of this world... this is one of the nicest maps I have to date. This map is so beautiful, I almost don't want to kill while playing it

Btw... I had trouble finding a download for it. The site listed in the first post is giving a database error, and another link where someone hosted it isn't working. Fortunately, a search at filefront found the PC version. I'll post the link just in case some other poor soul drools over the screenshots and can't easily find a download.

Saying "Great job Hourences" is an understatement.

The preview picture for the map is extremely pixellated, anyone else having this issue?

Someone.. like Epic themselves? This was one of the maps Epic cooked up for the community before releasing the tools to let anyone do so.

Now I can see you having missing that, but maybe you could look a whole five posts above yours?

Have to say this is a top quality map (as to be expected by Hourences).
It has everything a UT map should have and brings something new to the table. This is another one of my personal favourite user created maps around at the moment. We need as many of these kind of maps as pos!

    5/5 big thumbs up!

Thanks and i hope more are on their way.

I have only one doubt about this map....

To frag or to admire the landscape !?

What a beautiful map, have to turn "god mode" on so I'm not bothered, so much , by those pesky bots. Then I can stroll trough the map in some kind of piece.
Fish in the water would have been a cool touch...

This map looks crazy - incredible work on the visual. I didn't see a lot of map with this visual quality.

But... I'm curious to know why and how "casual player" would mean simple design or lack of advanced gameplays. I do not want to offense anyone here, I would just be interested in knowing where the designers are getting the idea that "casual" means make it easier.

It doesn't have to be easier, if both casual and hardcore are playing the same rules. The fun factors are in the same game rules and elements. If a player would want to make his game more easy, he simply have to downgrade the AI before his match and this is there for that. This would give him all the time he needs to frag and find how to pass by here and here, discover new jump tricks, etc.

But I could be wrong and I do not want to teach anything, you would have a father for that lol.

But please, do not make it personal, you succesfully reached all the goals you put in the design. It's easy to jump in the map and just run and look how beautiful it is and I enjoyed all the time I passed at looking around me. It was a visual beauty for sure ^^.

What you do of your time isn't my business at all ^^, but if we kep in mind that a visually outstanding map gives 5 minutes of fun compared to a really fun map with a great visual gives 3 weeks of fun... I guess I would work for 1 to 6 months to give 3 weeks or more of fun. Plus if I can achieve both fun and outstanding visuals... then damn! I would do it everytime.

I'm really happy to have the opportunity to play this map. It's a real gift to finally play something that looks different.

Fantastic map that breaks the dark tone of UT3.

To author: I left additional comments at UT3mod.com if you wish to read more.

I'm no expert but after having it on Taffy's TDM and then removing it, maybe I can give you an idea.

The map is not weapon balanced terribly well. It leans quite a bit to the hitscan side due to its openness. You want to balance a map by not favoring any particular weapon(s).

When you speak of advanced DM or TDM gameplay, you have to look at the map control aspects of the map. Hardcore DM players want a map with a 50 vest, a 100 belt, and a double damge (at least). They want them strategically placed so they can all be obtained each time they spawn by "running the map" and timing them to the second. If the powerups are spaced too far apart, or placed without taking spawn times into consideration, the map can't be ran fluently and is said to have bad "flow". Flow is also gauged by the way a map transitions from open areas to tighter areas.

This is just from talking to regulars on the server and playing it myself. It's a lovely map and is "fun" no doubt

Interesting that the author knows this (most don't), I bet he could (or already has) made some great gameplay maps.

    Question player load?

Can anyone recommend a good player load range for this one? Thank you.
EDIT: nevermind, it's 6-10 in the CBP3 map.

    Big Grin

Answer to first question: no, but I'm trying to wrap up some loose ends after making my own preview shots for maps that didn't have them and thought I'd ask a few questions and see what happened.

answer to second question: yes, I already did that and keep all the map text files as I prefer to call them.
