When i connect everyone goes off ????????

We finaly get the server going (had to remove router)as a listen server and all is good... its runs great people can connect and everyone has fun until. I connect because then everyone disconnects from the server except the server admin I am on a lan with the server admin... why does it cause everyone to disconnect when I join and then nobody to can either if I am playing on the server all answers are welcome... this needs to fixed because this is a very annoying little feature grrrrrrrrrr
