    Thumbs down UT3 spectator mode

    About the spectator mode, i think epic is missing a few points or doesnt see them.

    1) Why can i only see the flags with spectator mode and not switch between players like we always used to do.

    2) Why cant i join the game from spectator mode and do i have to disconnect and then reconnect etc etc. Make it like the UT2004 spec mode where you could spectate/join anytime you wanted during a match.

    3) When you finaly enterd the same server afther being spec there you cant spawn, it keeps saying press [FIRE] to join the game. Well you can press fire till your fingers hurt, you wont spawn.

    any1 knows a sollution for these things? or got some more things to add cause its realy frustrating.

    Got it that it's only a BETA patch that allows you to be spectator?!

    I have read this works, although I have not tested it myself.

    open ip?password=xxxx?spectatoronly=1/

    You might be able to type something like reconnect?spectatoronly=1/ or maybe even reconnect?spectate like we could in the past with previous UT games.

    i'd like to know how to spec someone in 1st person mode? instead of 3rd person. also, i seem to get a bug when the map changes, where i can't spec anyone or move around the level and i have to disconnect and reconnect to be able to spec the players again (ut2004 had similar prob for me, when next round started).

    being able to scroll thru the players u spec is a nice touch tho if you wanna spec an specific player, you dont have to click thru everyone each time you over-click past him just scroll back instead

    with beta patch u can:
    join server as spectator
    once in the server, u can become players typing in console "becomeactive"

    Just wondering, is there also a command to become spectator when u are a player in server?

    To watch someone in 1st person, you need to type in the console:
    Code:
    behindview
    You have to do this in every match you spectate. Btw, when you stay on a server and the map switches, the mouse-wheel does not work (here) anymore. I did not find any way to switch between players then. A disconnect and reconnect is necessary to enable the wheel again.

    Actually behindview is a toggle now and anything after it is ignored.

    If you're in first person and type behindview you're in behind view, do it again and you're back in first person, 0 / 1 isn't needed anymore.

    Yeah wheel up / down switches between players, 3rd view only. Gonna try that becomeactive thing. Im having the same issues with joining and spwning too after speccing...Beta 3. Im sure it gets fixed.

    To spectate a bot match just bind the command "viewbot" to a key and then when you start a offline IA game just immediately press your key (mine is F6 for example) after the match starts and then you will get switched to spectator mode. Just press "F6" again to switch to the next bot. Now this is only 3rd person so it is still not the full blown spectator mode and when the bots get in vehicles the camera view is very strange and you have to play with it a bit. It is still pretty cool though to be able to spectate the bots at times.

    Is this has been improved lately? I find the spectator mode completely unuseful to see how a player actually plays... First, "behindview" is not third person at all. You can't see the weapon, the movements are not real, you can't "feel" the player ...
    Damn, this is a so much important mode ...

    And on top of that, is there a way to move TO spectator mode from being an active player? This is something I miss from ut2004, I used to play on my server, spectate while I ate or took a break and watched, and then jump back in when I wanted to.

    Seems they left out a few important features from ut2004, probably because of time restraints.

    No, it's not possible as far as I know.
    Just via console (joining again.)

    To avoid having to type this every time I spectate I followed the instructions in the [PC] Keybinding Tutorial and added the following lines to my UTInput.ini file (in \My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Config) but they don't work.

    Any idea what I am doing wrong?

    Bindings=(Name="[",Command="behindview 0")
    Bindings=(Name="]",Command="behindview 1")

    EDIT: I just found this post http://utforums.epicgames.com/showth...2#post27205792

    so I changed the binding to a single key (to toggle between views) which works
    i.e. Bindings=(Name="Z",Command="behindview")
