did anyone here get a patch update? it is November 28 3:08 AM and I got a Gears patch. This time it seemed like gears was patched instead of LIVE. can anyone confirm this?

It wasnt too big, but I cant say much because of my fast internet, so I dont know how big it was.

Nah I dont see any difference. Probably just some crappy update for a random fix only .01% of Gears users are getting.

Um, if any patch is only available through Live I'll shoot somebody. Seeing as how I can't get into the game without a crash long enough to even get into Live. And oh, I have to turn Live off to get into the game in the first place.

I got the update, the box comes up when you sign in within the game, it doesn't say what it actually does.

I was really happy at first, i was like no f*cking way!!!!

I hosted a ranked match on Gold Rush and then.....crash.....


EDIT: It didnt seem like a big patch, took around 6 secounds to download...

I just found out what the Patch Does:

It adds a backup folder, maybe for saved games?

Me and a friend both on Asus boards downloaded the update through live. All that happened was it downloaded, went to desktop and the asus bios flash utility comes up, i was already on the l atest bios but updated anyway. When done gears and pc restarts. Then upon opening gears it tries to update again.
The major issue is now we cant log into live at all because it says we havent updated. I want to know why the hell epic are releasing updates that have now completely messed up my game so i cant play online or log into live. I want to know what they are goin to do to rectify this as i am paying for a service here (live gold) which i can no longer use. Nice one epic what was the point in this update anyways it seemed to do nothing substantial only break my live service cheers.

Bummer forced update or live would not let me login to save games.
So updated ultimately making a crack no good and now crashing again
During update the minute it got to 100% the game crashed in the background.
I knew I should not have updated and just played the game regardless of losing saves because atleast then I could play it.

I got the update and nothings changed. Campaign starts, crashes to desktop. Anyone know how to reach EPICS customer service? I'd like to phone or email them.

I know some people can host. But I havnt been able to since the new patch, and looking at the number of servers, maybe a lot of other people cant either?

Well just updated and here are my findings.

1st attempt to play it crashed. Not that crashing was 1 of my issues so far lol.

2nd attempt after i restarted comp. It ran. Ran like the dog poo it already ran like. Stuttery and choppy as hell gameplay. No matter what the settings of video are on low-high makes no difference. Plays in single player mode like I have a ping of 999 woot!

So what patch did is anyones guess. Not even going to bother trying to play online if single player is still unplayable.

Sorry for you guys if it crashed your game, i havent been able to install it correctly since day 1, but at least it shows they are working on something but whta good is an update through Live if i CANT GET THE FREKING THING INSTALLED !!!

To update I just went to play game as usual launching it through the start/games folder. I have live set to auto log in so it just popped up with the box. If you can't get the game to even start... good luck but at least you aint alone. You think LV 1 of the game is getting out your cell... no it's launching the game. I've lost count of the times i've exited my cell though now checking to see if tweaks and stuff will make it run smooth.

Yes but GoW2 will probably be out by then. Not that i'll be spending any of my money on any Epic games ever again.

Don't know if it was there before but yes i have a back up folder with all the .exe files in it and a few other files.

It's only a Live patch nothing to do with Gears from what I see I updated and crashed instantly.
So I then applied a crack which then forced to ask for another update.
I could not do so since game crashes.
Used Halo2 to update live and at that point when I launched gears it did not ask to update again.
If it does do anything to Gears it is a Exe change and that's maybe about it.
Which sucks because the 1.0 crack is useless.
It's surely a Live and Gears compatibility issue because Halo2 and Live work fine together.

Whenever I try to update it, my ASUS motherboard updater (Flasher) comes up and nothing happens. I had a working game yesterday and now I get this?
Want: Unpatch.
When: Now.

i can confirm the stuttering is fixed for me very very very sometimes a stutter for the rest the game runs fine now

to all those with asus motherboards who get the asus update thing come up when you try to apply the patch, just uninstal the asus update program then patch gears it worked for me now i did that, dunno why i didnt think to do that earlier, but really you shouldnt have to to be honest.
