    TC MOD Warm Gun Mod

    Hey Space Cats,

My Name is Joe and I just wanted to share with the Epic community our little Mod we call "Warm Gun".

The gist of it all is this...

The second coming of the wild west.
A futuristic western, Warm Gun combines the favorite motifs of the classic genre, with the scraps of an obliterated technocracy. Warm Gun is a Total Modification for Unreal Tournament 3; it features five game types, seven character classes and over 30 weapons.

We have been working hard over the last 8 months getting prepared for the release of UT 3 and now I'd like to share with you all some of our progress and hopefully get some feedback.

Thanks for taking the time to check this out and feel free to visit us and post feedback...we are a dedicated team and will be seeing this project through to completion come hell or high water.

    JC

Here are some samples of what we are creating...
Feel free to visit our forums http://www.warmgun.ca/forums/portal.php
or our homepage http://www.warmgun.ca (still under construction) for more samples of our work.

Ha! How the hell do you get someone from DC Comics to do your conceptual art? We need someone for our conceptual art, too We have like 20 coders/level designers and no artists (University CS students).

    Those are amazing.

    Thanks samifira...

Here are some more concepts...these are the character sheets...
Or models are all based off of these sheets...
if you compare the 49er model from my first post to the character sheet you will get a sence of what they will look like.

Thank you for showing some absolutely amazing amounts of ingenuity, skill, and artistic understanding. I truly love what you have so far, and it really seems quite refreshing compared to what most other mods are offering. I certainly hope that the gameplay side will be just as amazing as the artistic side. Bravo, and good luck.

    Thanks for the kind words.

We are developing some innovative things that should enhance the gameplay, and set us apart from the typical shooters...we aim to bring to the table something that's new and refreshing compared to all the zombie alien space stuff...

The trend these days seems so generic and only a handful of killer games are out that really break the stereotypes. That's why we chose the Unreal engine...this technology is friggin amazing to work with...

I'm beginning to notice that now to be honest. it's not nearly as trivialized as people were making it out to be. sure, the graphics design side may be a larger pain than what's normal, but it's overall quite flexible. (I'm also noticing that the coding side must be rather flexible too, considering the game only just came out and there's a slew of interesting stuff already out. that 2D platformer mod has me really interested.)

Yea the tutorials and the support in general for Unreal Technology is great...

    Thats the recipe for success...
Look at the Source engine support...Valve has been supporting user made content from day one and it really pays off...and why not let people push your technology to the limits...it's really the way things ought to be.

Same here, I hope epic decides to release Unrealed as a seperate download too it really doesn't make sense to have to buy the game twice since you can 3d model etc on computers that are not nessecarily beastly.

Yea we are looking into a PS3 port...
I think it would be stupid of us not to extend into the PS3 world...
    Just that many more players.

It's really the way of the future...

Thanks for the votes guys...really great to see some support.

Good luck guys. The art is nice too. I like the girl with the hat. Is this the type of thing that could be carried over to the PS3?

Yea we are planning on releasing it to the PS3 at the same time as the PC release.
The port should be fairly easy from what we have heard.

From what I have heard the program (I think it's just going to be the next version of frontend) will do the porting for you, so it should be very easy. Anyways, I did the vote couple weeks ago, looks like an amazing mod. Can't wait to play it

This just looks absolutely perfect. Thanks a bunch, now i am excited beyond belief.

One question though. Do you think this will be able to run on the Playstation 3? I'm not really sure what does and doesn't work yet, since the mod support hasn't come yet.

Thank you, and ill be sure to keep checking back.

EDIT: Duh, should have checked the 2nd page. I really hope you get this working with the PS3, it would be perfect.

I voted this as Mod of the year.

Wow thanks for the great comments guys...
We are really working hard to bring it to life and the PS3 port will be high priority for us.

As for who thought up the idea...that was me, but the game has evolved over the last 8 months into something that I had never fully envisioned
I guess thats the joys of working with a dedicated team. (we have room for more)

Thanks so much for the votes...we are really busting our buts to have a pre-alph launch in Feb...then by April we should release an Alpha build.

Cant wait to have you all play it.

Here are some more videos and screens...

You can also download some holiday Wallpapers

It looks good to me. I like the fact that you did not make the lady to graphic. I do not like people that do that. But i hope you finish it because i would like to try it out. Good luck and merry christmas.

Wonderful stuff!!! I love Westerns. I remember playing a little mod called Lawdogs and having a great deal of fun with it, but the mod was never polished due to need for more coders. There was also a game called Dead Man's Hand which was OK but had absolutely no admin control (sorta like UT3 is right now lol). I'm only interested in multiplayer with fair admin control.

Also, will this be a stand-alone mod or will it be like JailBreak, which, once installed becomes a gametype choice. Just askin' because the pics make me drool.

Yes I have to agree with the Crazylady, it's exciting to see this kind of project being undertaken.

Lawdogs was a complete overlay on top of 2k4 (some great maps and game play) while DeadMan's hand simply used the UT2 engine. Both of them were lots of fun. If you have not already done some research on their efforts I would highly recommend it.

Wishing you guys lots of luck & will be watching for your public releases.

I've been following this thread and your official site a bit, and I must say this looks absolutely awesome.
I've been thinking of this mod for days straight and I just can't wait to play the first release. I love that you are also releasing this for PS3 since I don't have UT on my Mac.

Coincedentally, have you ever seen Firefly/Serenity? Massive fan of that space western show Can't wait to try this. I love that whole mythos. I anxiously await the day when I get to plug another varmint with my six-shooter. Being able to hold two at once would be neat too, btw Can't help feeling like a cowboy dual wielding enforcers in UT3 as it is.
