    Default ut3.exe has encountered an error

    I tried to install ut3 for the 5th time. Did a "clean boot" by using msconfig and disabling everything but system services. Copied the files on the DVD to my HD and installed from there.

    Installation completes, microsoft firewall pops up asking if i want to unblock or keep blocking ut3. I click unblock, error messages saying ut3.exe has encountered an error pop up, close those, then the installation complete screen pops up. I select "play ut3" then a window comes up saying my user ini is out of date, and I should update it. Select update, then a window saying "UT3.exe has ecountered a problem and needs to close, sorry for the inconvenience" comes up.

    Any ideas?

    Same here but whenever I start the game, the usual crash bug from the demo. It feels like it's just a 6gb beta

    I was hoping that the full game get rid of this bug but it didn't.

    just tried to install it on a *brand spanking new* xp laptop. no luck.

    now that the packaging is open, i can't even return it.

    i go back to school this weekend. only having a laptop means no ut3 until i come home for xmas. bummer.

    i even went out and bought 2 copies today, so my brother and i could both play (plus i have no problem supporting epic if the game is as good as 2k4 or 2k3. I'm glad I only opened one of the games and not both.

    they should of just released it for ps3 or 360 first that way there wouldnt be many bugs and people could play

    tried for the last time, clean boot, delete temp files, made sure all registry entry's for ut3 were deleted, blah blah blah...

    again "ut3.exe has encountered a problem" "update ini file". and nothing..

    Epic - thank you for a game that won't even start, and if you happen to be lucky enough to have it start, it crashes. Worst $50 i've spent all year.

    Works great for me what are your specs and operating system. Or could be directx drivers too i guess, if don't have latest directx get them.Could be wrong though. Your specs could reveal something also, so please list them.

    No problem, I'm toying with the idea that it's something to do with AVG but I really don't want to uninstall my AVG. Also I have the lastest nividia drivers.

    Do you have latest direct x drivers though. My freind had alot of trouble with bioshock with AVG. Maybe it is that. if not try latest direct x drivers.

    actually I think it installed directx on top of another directx if I'm reading the directx log file right and any time direct x does that it gets hosed

    Computer specs shouldn't really affect the game *opening*, freezing/crashing would indicate a problem there. I just don't get it.

    all my specs are right on my computer with vista but i still have the "ut3.exe is not working" no avg installed. tried it on an xp same thing this time it showed up after restart. read the minimal requirments on the box and we have everything the only thing is our processer is .2 less than 2.0 but our other computer has 2.0 or higher and it said "ut3.exe is not responding"

    Alright I updated my sound drivers, re updated my nvidia drivers and reinstalled directx now I try to load and it goes into a black screen never to recover, here is the lastest log file, which is different then the first one

    "I select "play ut3" then a window comes up saying my user ini is out of date, and I should update it. Select update, then a window saying "UT3.exe has ecountered a problem and needs to close, sorry for the inconvenience" comes up."

    Same exact problem here.. we bought 2 copies, it works on one system, but not on the other system, and both are runnign the newest ati video drivers released today, and ati x1950 pro video cards.

    The wife's system opens a full black screen, something doesn't work properly, and then that screen minimizes on the desktop, and we get that windows encounter error popup.

    Still haven't seen anyone post a fix for this yet.

    I tried moving my own documents/game ini files over to her system, but that didn't work, and also tried all the various shortcut options as well, and none helped.

    Needless to say, she's pissed...LOL! Sure glad we just took a chance and shelled out $100 for two copies!

    I doubt epic will even have anyone working at all tomorrow, so I'm hoping we see a weekend patch, or at least some suggested fixes by then.

    tried everything. updating instalshield and directx, cleaned my registry etc etc still ut3.exe has encountered a problem and there so so so f***in sorry for the inconveinence. grrrrrrr arrrrrg and i closed avg

    Alright I've managed to load once! Have you gone and deleted you my games file? If you get the users ini is out of date deleting the my games folder seems to fix that problem.

    I created this thread, still having the same issue.

    I've done a system restore, copied files onto the HD, updated all drivers, updated direct x, etc.. etc...

    Okay. This is certainly a graphics-related issue.

    1. Make sure you have the latest drivers from nvidia.com.
    2. Make sure you have all the latest Windows Updates + everything.
    3. Check Temperature of Graphics Card (may be overheating)

    Could I have some system specs? What make is the graphics card (the actual brand, like MSI / BFG / Gigabyte)?

    everyone post your specs and lets try to see if we can pinpoint the issue.

    AMD FX-60 Dual Core CPU
    2GB Corsair Ram
    BFG 8600 GTS OC
    X-Fi Elite Pro
    Windows Vista x64

    Honestly it could be a million different things. For me, the game only crashes randomly in game. I can always get into the game (thank god), and sometimes I can play a few maps before it happens, but now it happened on the first map I opened. This happened for a while, then I got a PROCESS_HAS_LOCKED_PAGES BSOD once or twice, which leads me to believe theres a driver conflict somewhere between my nvidia card and my creative one. Updating to the latest drivers didn't resolve the issue, unfortunately.

    Edit- I'd just like to add that 90% of the time, my log file shows no errors whatsoever. As a matter of fact, its common to find the log cut off mid-report.

    Lets keep the system specs coming, though.
