Hello,
I'm both impressed and confused by the graphics. It seems that Epic has overloaded the grunge/darkness and detail of the textures -- everything seems WAY overtextured and noisy, to the point of excessiveness. It's almost like they took every scene and applied the "grunge/dirt/shadow" overlay 10x.
Has anyone else noticed this?
I get that there's a specific "look" in the game, but compared to anything in the current generation (HL2, Crysis, Bioshock, etc...), I feel like maybe this was done intentionally to keep the perception of detail high? Or is it just stylistic? I'm not expecting the style to match other games, but it's as though it's been overdone.
It's just very weird to see visually overloaded environments -- just massive amounts of contrast and detail in every scene -- contrasted with a very flat, blocky, "primary colors" HUD. And yet, with all the detail, it's not necessarily making scenes look more realistic -- just busier.
I'm impressed with the overall world environments, but does this bother anyone?
