I'm curious. Did anyone else notice that when these "video driver" issues happen (crash to desktop, shutdown and recovered, freezing, etc.) whether or not there was a Darkwalker or a Fury nearby? When these things happen to me (and for the most part I pretty well ignore 'em.. they don't really bother me that much. Just another way of telling me to go outside), it's when a Darkwalker (usually the suspect) or a Fury (once or twice) shooting at me.

I've also read through every single page of this thread, and noticed that some people have said that the demo ran like a 'bat outta hell'. This question is directed to them. Were there any Darkwalkers or Furies in the demo?

See my post here. I have been using 169.28 but still had random intermittent crashes until I did this:

I haven't had any lockups for almost a month now, barring 4 ut3.exe errors last night due to GameSpy screwing with my INI files during their "connection" problems! Its supposed to be fixed now according to others with the same ut3.exe issue.

Also tends to happen when you're either repairing a vehicle or building a node, or taking out someone with the link gun's alt fire. The reason I mentioned this is because this is the ONLY times it ever happens to me.. Also, the reason it doesn't bother me that much is because of the system specs on this machine... the OS, RAM, hdd, and everything else is up to par, with the exception of the video card... that's the culprit.. not the drivers, and I've been aware of this since the day I got the game.. I'm used to the crashes, I know why they exist, and I know the culprit. Thanx for your help tho. I, and a great many others, really do appreciate it.

Coincidentally, I could play sometimes, for hours on end, without a single issue, or just until I have to build a node, kill someone, or get close to fragged by a Darkwalker. The game itself is absolutely fantastic, even tho the video card is sub-par.

Now, I'm sure the question of 'why don't you go get a new video card' is sure to be on some people's minds, and here's the answer. Just too expensive (for now).

But I was getting crashes "until" the beginning of April when I made the changes referenced in my linked post above, and I've had a Nvidia 8800GTX 768mb card all along and with the 169.28 drivers since they first became available. I don't know if you have nTune installed, but between uninstalling nTune (my prime suspect), adding more memory, keeping 169.28 Nvidia graphics drivers and updating audio and mouse drivers my crashes went away and have no issue with Darkwalker or other vehicles and weapons no longer. Getting a better video card will help your graphics performance and looks but it may not solve your crashes doing that alone but I hope it does for you.

When/if I get a new card, the drivers should be aiight to handle just about anything I throw at it =)

Again, thank you for all the help you've given myself, and anyone else that might have actually gotten this far in this here thread.

Don't know about yall, but since nvidia's 175.12 beta drivers came out and I installed it, I haven't had any problems with crashes or lockups .. Only problem I get is when they are discussing what you have to do in the mission (on campaign) it freeze's for a few seconds, then resumes..

Linking my issue to this thread, because it occurs when I have a 'graphics freeze':

Awhile ago, I had complained about crashing to the desktop, video drivers freezing, recovering, etc.

An odd thing happened about a month ago... I replaced the monitor (not the video card) from a 17" LCD to a 21" widescreen LCD...

The game hasn't crashed once. Not even when I completely expected it to. And as I said in a previous post... the game just freekin rawx

ratphour: I get the same thing, it's nothing to worry about. It's as if it's building the cache that it's going to need for the gameplay to be as seamless as it is.
