Default UT3 (full) does not create a folder under "My Games"

yeah here i am again, i had the same problem in the full version (german) like within the demo.
i got "my documents" on D:, while i installed UT3 on C:, maybe this is causing the problem!?

i've started UT3, logged in (with my demo account), tried the campagnes etc, but everytime i started UT3 again, it was like i started it for the first time. so i had to enter the CD-Key everytime and make all the settings.

i solved it the same way how i solved the problem within the beta-demo:
a friend of mine who also bought UT3 sent me his "Unreal Tournament 3"-folder from "My Games" and now it works.

i think this can be a big issue for some people, that are not into UT and PCs like me :|

Hope this will be fixed with a patch.

excuse my english, i'm not a native speaker.

its coz you have my doccuments on D:\ instead of C. which you really shouldn't as game access will be slower as it has to read and transfer data back and forth from D to C and then back again which doesn't make sense. Just copy sensative doccuments to your D drive and keep the my doccuments on the C drive if thats why u copied it to your D:\ drive in the first place.

my "my documents"-folder has a size of over 100GB and the "Unreal Tournament 3"-folder has a size of 600KB, i don't see why i should move all that stuff just to get this weird INI-system working. this is definately Epics job, if they want to do it like that. besides: some other games like Prey oder CnC3 did not have a problem with it. and there is no "transfer" since the very very small size of the INI-folder.

I heard somewhere that game does not create My Games folder and stores the stuff in UTGame/Config if the game is run from account named "Administrator"

Keep in mind the key is saved in that my games\Unreal Tournament 3\... folder as well, so you might be using the key of your friend at the moment...

could this be the explanation why i have to enter my CD-Key all the time?

    Hi Monz, schon gemerkt

It's in the UTEngine.ini in an entry called "EncryptedProductKey". And yes, it's encrypted, better that way :-)

If that workaround copying the files from your friend worked fine besides of the same cd key I would have a solution for you, if you can trust that friend. But I don't want to mention it here to not give potential cheaters a chance to swap their cd key easily. Send me a private message on IRC or sth., you know where to find me I think :-)

ok, here is what i did to make it work (with the help from a german forum, there are several players with this problem):

    -open regedit
    -go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders\Personal
-set the value back to %USERPROFILE%\My Documents
    -start UT, enter the CD-Key
-UT now created a folder in the "new" My Documents, copy the whole folder to where you had your My Documents first (My Games/Unreal Tournament 3/)
    - open regedit again and change the value back
(you can also just copy the EncryptedProductKey=-line of you're only having problems with your key)

Adding "-nohomedir" to the VERY end of my desktop icon seems to have fixed my CD-Key and Settings not being saved issue. So here is what I did:

    "C:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\UT3.exe" -nohomedir

This worked for me so far! What a mess this is! I have spent four hours on this nonsense, good going EPIC but thanks for the fix... So far anyway...
