Nothing wrong with a little attitude, how do you know he didn't blame creative first.

Not everyone is going to be happy, you people need to chill and expect it, telling someone to calm down and saying "it works on my pc" doesn't offer any help what so ever. Best not to reply at all.

Oh BTW, I blame Epic for a lot of things, one being the game is LAME for offline play, once again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, if the complainer does a little searching, you'll find some work arounds which may work...

Init: System Settings changed using SetFriendlyGraphicsSettings:

    That friendly s***t darn sucks.
A good reason to turn engine.ini in readonly.....

Same issue for me. Even after a cleaning of old drivers (using Driver Cleaner Pro), and re-install of latest NVIDIA drivers, still getting BSOD. Also tried running with anti-virus and such turned off, screen resolution set to 800x600, and even using beta driver from NVIDIA.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I have the exact same issue, have had it since the original UT3 beta demo, and still have it with the final. I also have the same issue with Gears of War. Bioshock also crashes if I enable EAX in game. All three are UE3 games. The problems all go away if I leave my X-Fi disabled.

I'd blame Creative, but I'm hoping someone here has an answer.

Just my 2 cents. When enabling OpenAL, the game will crash at some point. Randomly. Same error like everyone else.

What I don't understand is that every OTHER game that either uses OpenAL or doesn't works just fine. Like Bioshock, no crashes whatsoever.

X-FI Fatality with the latest 0004 Vista 64-bit drivers.

    Damn strange and annoying.

might want to lower your settings... usually system reboot is your video card card's way of telling you it can't take no more (some times ram too).

Most of us who have had this problem START with making sure our drivers are up to date. It's when that does not work that we begin to look elsewhere.

At least for me, I fixed my own version of this issue. My resolution? I upgraded to Vista.

    I smell a scam.

I have a feeling that this problem has to do with the X-Ram on the X-Fi Fatal1ty and Auzentech Prelude cards. I'm having the same problems, random crashing and BSODs saying "PROCESS_HAS_LOCKED_PAGES", and after doing some digging, I found that the problem is primarily one from the sound card and how the game uses it.

Battlefield 2 had this problem for a while, when a patch messed it up, but a later patch fixed it. I can only hope that Epic does the same.

I run XP with Sp2 and XFI Platinum (current driver). UT3 will not load until I disable the XFI card, then everything runs perfectly except for sound. So, it's a Creative driver issue? Doesn't EPIC have test platforms that use most of the current cards?

I also have the Fatal1ty card & I experience crashes. I did on the Demo as well as on the full. The exception was I played on instant action for like 2 hours or more & it was perfect. I went to play online campaigne & I was on for maybe ~20 minutes & it crashed. I received the MS error reporting screen. However on the Demo I had complete lock-ups. I have all the latest drivers & BIOS updates. It is really starting to sound like a Creative issue. They need to have a fix for that pretty quick I suspect.

I had the same issue with my Fatal1ty and noticed that disabling hardware AL solved the issue. This annoyed me but then I remembered that I had upgraded my BIOS and forgot to re-disable the onboard HD Audio. I did this in the BIOS, and re-enabled Hardware AL in UT3 and it hasn't crashed yet after a couple hours of DM play. Haven't tried the other modes (maybe it's tied to the more technical gameplay modes).

If you have a Fatal1ty card. Why would you enable onboard HD audio? If I did that I would be enabling the built it audio on my 680i board. I have that disabled because I am using the fatal1ty.

On a second thought maybe I should disable my creative card & try the built in sound. huh.....

Chalk me up as a fatal1ty user with the same problem. disabling Hardware openAL in game seems to help. Same problem with demo aswell as full

Also, dont just blame creative. This problem was known about during the beta and epic dont appear to have shouted enough to get something done about it. Keep shouting at Epic as they are the only ones who stand a chance of getting anything done. Creative will not listen to the individual, but a multi-million dollar company has a lot of clout.

have the same problem completely different config. and epic is damn silly. at least some sort of official response to what looks like the 50% of people that cannot play their game..... with the same problem they had in beta.
If you have a HUGE problem in beta with a triple A release you fix it.... before making people pay 50$ for a broken piece of **** and to add insult to injury absolutely no response to those you just screweds' pleas.

even "we're working on it" would be nice

Default I possibly solved the freezing issue for some!!

I found a work around for the freezing issue. I do not know how many this may work for, but I have the X-Fi Sound Blaster as many have stated they have. I also have the eVGA 680i motherboard. I wanted to see what would happen if I enabled the HD Audio in BIOS & installed the drivers for the onboard audio. I then played the game in online Campaigne mode. I played 7 missions before quiting to come write my findings. Before I did the switch with the audio I was not able to get through the first mission. So I think it is obvious for me at least the Creative X-FI drivers were the issue. If anyone has the option to change over and at least try this. I would suggest it. The only think I encountered was some lagging in the loading. I think that is due to me being on 1GB of RAM right now though. My other stick fried. Once I get my new 2GB kit I should run like clockwork. If anyone wants further instruction, just send a private message through the forums. user ID is “VIOLATER”. Good Luck.

Someone needs to get on Creative to bring out a fix for this REAL quick!!

Here's my fix for the crashing issue. I think the game crashes because of some issue with Xfi, well, mine did anyway.

Gears of War, UT III demo, UT III retail, all freeze at splash screen unless I disable X-Fi audio.
Using onboard audio instead of X-Fi works fine, both games load and play great, so it must be related to X-Fi somehow.

System: Asus P5K dlx Wi-Fi AP, Core 2 Q6600, 4Gb OCZ RAM, 8800GTX, X-Fi XtremeMusic, Windows Vista x86 (32-bit), all latest drivers installed (tried multiple versions).

As I am running 32bit OS my useable system RAM is 3326mb.

I have posted in this thread and other ones regarding game freezing a couple weeks ago. I also recently got GoW and I have the same issue as this guy. As long as I use my onboard sound "Realtek" I run great. If I try using my X-Fi I freeze either during the start-up of the game or shortly after I load a level. I don't think the Unreal 3 Engine likes X-Fi cards or drivers. Either Epic or Creative needs to come out with a fix for this. I had reinstalled UT2K4 & my X-Fi runs fine. That uses the Unreal 2 Engine.
