    TC MOD Project X - Concept Works

    We'll just post some of our favorites here as they become available. Information on Project X and other Concept Works can be found HERE. (Check the sticky threads.) Also note that we're looking for more artists to work on concepts & modeling. Talented coders that understand Project X are also needed! Just sign up and introduce yourself and we'll go from there.

    The zombie looks good and the buildings are interesting though I'm a little unsure of the blobish things ... I have some issues with the hero though ... I think that the founders and I need to talk about what sort of Hero we think would best fit the story once that is more fleshed out. Heroes take very special crafting and consideration as they ARE one of the top three things about a good SP campaign people will remember. So for now lets concentrate on other things besides the hero. Until we have had more time to consider who this protagonist really is we can't worry about his outward appearance.

    One important thing though is that unless he is going to be in a body suit of some sort ... i.e. Halo's Armor, Crysis' Nano suit, Timeshift's Time suit, dark or reflective sunglasses don't work for a hero ... that is why in the majority of solid FPS games the hero's eyes are an important element because they add more emotional depth to the way the player will bond with that character. CliffyB even recently discussed this when talking about design choices for Marcus Fennix in Gears of War ... as a matter of fact his approach was much like mine ... they had a Marcus Fennix but by the time they had worked out the other aspects of the game they had to change his face and his look a lot. So in essence time had been wasted at the beginning because they hadn't clearly thought out the vision and many times you can't at the beginning of a project. That is not realistic to even expect that ... many of your best ideas will happen while working on the project as you see more of the vision and have more material to work with.

    If you have any collector's editions of any games watch at least one of the developer commentaries on how they developed the game ... it will give you a great deal of insight on the best way to tackle a project of this scope. You may want to try and enlist the aid of the famed C&R combo (Chicken and Ribs) who developed the most well known Zombie themed mod for UT2K4 (actually it started out as a mod for UT2K3 but he did not want to release just a piece of crap and since it wasn't ready he kept on working on it but for the new engine) - Out of Hell. http://www.outofhell.net/

    Again I just want to point out things that I feel will assist in making this a truly fantastic and memorable mod. It is important to approach the project in a structured and logical fashion as early as possible to ensure the maximum chance of success. Believe me, I learned well from HaloUT.

    Also take a look at this to give you more ideas of how really pro level zombies look (or can look) ... this will be helpful for the model developers that will be on the team but folks should see this now. If possible.

    I'm a concept artist for video games and i can tell you.. that concept needs ALOT of work...
    You bleed better than you shoot....

    Frag Friday is an event that often occurs on Friday nights in the North American UT CTF community. It was founded in response to the dwindling population of players who enjoy playing regular weapons CTF on custom (user-made) maps on public servers.

    Yes but it's not the kind of concept art you're used to. You're used to the concept art that you create and then hand over to the 3d artists and animators to turn them into characters. This is more like concept concept art. We're just throwing ideas around and getting some visual impressions of how the game could look.

    looks good, but he is on the tad, malnurished. Way to thin, like he doesnt get enough protien in his diet
