Modified executable code!! HELP!!

ok i was having the error wargame cannot run game with modified executable and my fix
was this , hope work for some of you guys
1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd in the Open box, and then OK.
2. At the command prompt, type the following commands, and press ENTER after each command:
regsvr32 /u softpub.dll
regsvr32 /u wintrust.dll
regsvr32 /u initpki.dll
regsvr32 /u dssenh.dll
regsvr32 /u rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 /u gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 /u sccbase.dll

great, I did this and it completely broke g4wl, even if I uninstall and reinstall it it won't allow me to sign in under any of my games. Here's to 3 windows reinstalls this month.

Dont try those tricks theyre from 2007 I did and all they did was make things worse..

I hope everyone knows all you gotta do is change the system clock before Jan 27 to play it would be a good idea to message youre friends about it so we can get more players online..

FYI:Changing the date didnt work for me intially I figured it was my modified Windows XP OS so I reinstalled the OS with the clock settings before Jan 27 just to be safe and then game an updates I was playing again=)

I'm sorry, but I enjoyed the game but like alot of DRM related issues - I sit with a perfectly legal game while "some" of my friends sit with cracked copies and now they all sitting and going "LOL @ YOU" or something similiar.

What - are you stupid - I paid R349 for this game (I'm from South Africa) which is more than most PC games and here I can't play it because of stupidity - No thanks.

I'm not going to stress etc - I'm going to sell it and someone else can deal with the problem.

Well epic have done well, boycotting the pc because of piracy. I have this error and was unable to play my genuine copy of GOW. Not only does it annoy me that i cant play a game i payed for, but that guys that pirates the game can play fine. What is the world coming to?

yo gdiza i tried setting my clock to past time and then when i tried starting up my gears it said "internet explorer cannot display webpage" when i was connected to the internet and then when i turned it back to the right time, it said the modified executable code blabla again -.-

If anyone is having trouble playing mp on Windows Live, you have to set your time back to the original date once you get the game launched.

To be perfectly clear, set your time previous to 1/28/09, launch the game, once the game is up, get back to Windows and set your date to present. Then you can log into Live and play. Although I must say there aren't many people on the servers because of all of this... There was only one game going in all when I signed on, so tell your fellow players that this works so there is more competition on the servers!

I hope a patch comes out soon, or people figure out how to bypass the expired certificate...

Did you get a Runtime error when you set the time back? If so you need to update your game with a patch.

Wow, so we buy a game that expires on a date, no matter if the game is still in store? if this will happen with every game we buy with the "games for windows" logo ...its gonna drive me crazy...

unreal tournament 3 tommorow, universe at war after a month, and blacksite in 2 weeks. oh, lets not forget the rest of all the "games for windows".

its really stopid that a date has been set in this game. i would call it a serious bug, but to be honest, i dont think its a bug....

I'm just here after having trouble with this GOW game. I bought it for my kids about a week and half ago. It played just fine. Then they did not play it for a few days and tried today and now they get this error about some executable program being modified?
I'm about ready to shove this game up Microsoft's and Epic's bungholes. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever encountered with any game for PC.

I'll try the date thing and see if it works. Either way, MS is getting a phone call from a very dissatisfied customer.

Great, just got this game off goozex yesterday and it turns out I can't play it because of some error. This game already has a sequel out, how can it not be running correctly? Guess I'll think twice next time I see "Epic" on the cover.

Also, got this message when I was browsing the forum and hit back a couple of times: "PHP has encountered an Access Violation at 01F8CF7F". Good lord.

So is the patch coming like in the next week or is it a month away? If I have to wait too long I'm just gonna trade it back and never look at another Epic game again.

I totally agree with the guy who said he was gonna take it back. Having to set the clock back is something I might have tolerated 15 years ago in the 386 days. Not now. It's not a question of it being easy to set the clock back or not: it's a question of putting up with ineptitude.

What the hell, i tried all the fixes. I was playing fine last night. I renewed my gold because of this game - and this crap happens.

why did you do that? GFW-LIVE is free now >.> I really hope they come out with a fix for this, among a few other issues, like the loss of achievement stats and stuff like that.

I have vista and I reset the day back to the 27th of jan and it worked.
Epic should be fixing this asap.
I have only had GOW for 2 weeks but this is such a disappointment on Epics behalf.
Looks like it is back to EA for me....

The quick workaround for this problem is (untill Epic comes with a fix, is) :

Just change the system date to any date before 29th January 2009.

I couldnt get the game to work with the date change even after reinstalling the game a few times..

I always back up my stuff to a second partition so reinstalling windows is easy an quick for me I did that with the date before Jan 25 just to be safe installed the game updates an its been working fine since then..

Just in case those still having problems and are willing to reinstall windows want the game to work theres your fix..

wow, you guys are all huge whiners to the fifth degree. So what, you're suffering a minute inconvenience of having to set your clock back and forth, a process that takes an extra 3 seconds literally, to play a game that's been out for 2 years. All this condemning of epic is redonkadonk. I'm willing to bet all the DRM on the game has more to do with microsoft pushing it than epic wanting to implement it, which causes errors like this. Now they're working their asses off to support you all and all you guys can muster is self-important bickering.
