How do I export textures? I have a few textures from the game I want to reskin, but I can't export them to TGA because it says 'The operation you requested cannot be performed on a cooked package.' Any way to export the textures or 'un-cook' the packages?

Ok to find the skydomes you need to open the generic browser and go to...
File, Open. From here browse to where you installed Gears of War. On my PC it is.
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\WarGame\CookedPC\Environments\SkyDomes
In the generic browser right click on skydomes in the packages window and select Fully load. Dont forget to unload the file when you have finished, you should do this everytime you have finished with a package to prevent the editor from crashing.

hello everybody I have a couple of questions. my first question is I want to make a flat piece of land as my level. then I want to have 1 AI locust on this level. I want him to fight me really hard and if I can get him down I want him to be able to get back up after 5 seconds (like execution) then once I kill him I want to wait 5 seconds and have him spawn again and do the same thing over and over. is this possible in doing and if so can you please tell me how.
also on another note how come the singleplayer maps have not been updated since 6/24/08
youll probably want to start off with a basic tutorial like how to build a additive level. then maybe delve into some kismet tutorials. If people just start throwing out info on how to do this you will get confused really quickley.

please help....my friend made new maps....i want to access them and play them...i don't know how....i downloaded them...i use windows vista but i can't figure out what folder to save in and how to play on gears of war new maps on pc....thanks for anyone who can help me. bird.
Are there any tutorials on getting custom models (mainly characters and weapons) into Gears of War 1 for PC? Or would I be better off using UT3?
2. Select the attached red Cover Slot and move it to one end of the sandbag or whatever cover you are using
3. While the red Cover Slot is selected, Alt+Drag to the other end of the sandbag
You can also add coverslots near the middle of your surface to offer more locations to grab cover on the sandbag.

LiquidLeary, Thanks for that I dont think I covered that in my tutorial. And I got about 3 more tutorials I have to finish and upload, but my PC crashed (Hopefully PSU failure only and not motherboard failure)
i managed to get it working
what do the blue stripe lines stand for? ive noticed their all connected to the primary coverslot (or the icon). my best guess, their just to show what covergroup they belong to
when i click build paths. sometimes it decides to link random covers to eachother
ive managed to fix that thou buy moving a few about/deleting them.
i hope thats the right way to approach the problem

i have a problem when i create an additive world and create an almost flat sheet i click on it and then press CSG:add the sheet is supposed to go pitch black so i can add lighting but it doesnt go pitch black.
although when i play the map the sheet is there

Just noticed something for anyone needing to reset actors at the start of the next Round in a Multiplayer map. In Kismet use the following event to trigger the reset:
New Event > Level Startup
Make sure to set MaxTriggerCount to Zero
i cant find out were to put the downloaded files.
because my map files say

instead of, what all instructions say

I have been pulling my hair out today trying to figure out how to get animation blending to work. I just need to blend simple things like: Marcus walks then the goes idle or Wretch screams then starts running
The only tutorial video I could find for blending was for UDK and either GOW is lacking the options needed or I'm just lost.
I set up a matinee linked to my skeletal mesh and animation set, add a Anim control track drop in a animation and it runs fine with one animation. If I add another animation to the same amin control track, it fill play both but I cant blend them together.
If I add anther animation control track it will only play the second animation control track.

You have to use a Skeletal Mesh MAT actor to blend animations. Good luck finding any animtrees besides "Aimoffsets," which have some of the basic animations incorporated, but not all of them.
Yeah, I'm blanking on how to work around that. Will post if I remember.
