    Default Hover board mod request

    While the HB in the demo is nice I can see a few places with plenty of room for improvement.

    Fall hight limit needs to be increased. I think you should be able to fall farther without negetive effects on the board. Letting you land safely 1.5-2 times distance you can fall on foot(without damage) would probably do the job.

    Grappling attack: Make the hook usable on enemies that are also using a board so you can pull them off.

    Grappling distance: It is next to impossible to grab a friendly manta/raptor as it passes with the short reach we have now.

    Recovery time: It seems that it takes to long to get back up after being knocked off.

    Board attack: The alt fire could be used do some sort of hand stand while thrusting the board into the target. This could be combined into dismounting to continue the fight on foot.

    Hop into vCTF-Suspense, then try jumping down from the AVRiL bridge to the Armor/Jump Boots platform. You'll take damage. Now try again, but whip out the hoverboard just before landing. No damage! It's magic!

    Must be misjudging the safe drop distance then. Every time I try to break a fall with the board I eat asphalt.

    ya the hover does limit some damage, but would almost be cool to limit more from very high falls like the top of the bridge on suspense. Currently the hoverboard does seem to protect from slightly higher falls.

    Along with those I'd like:
    -Allow grapple to enemy vehicles
    -allow grapple to wall to make a clothesline for someone else coming through on a hoverboard and watch them fall.
    -Allow Hover up walls... at least for short wall-rides like Tony hawk :P (yes i know you're just gonna say "Meh go play tony hawk then")

    Using the hook on walls to trip players doesn't sound that useful to me(I prefer set and forget traps, over sit and wait traps). However it could be combined with your wall climbing idea for some spider man action.

    Shoot the grapple at the wall as you fall and twist so the board is between you and the wall. You can then swing to gain momentum and jump.

    So you mean you can do this from any height as long as you whip out the hoverboard just before landing?

    No. but taht is what the original poster would like. Currently if you whip out your hoverboard at the last second, you can stave off some damage and even get no damage if its not too high. But there is still a limit on falling no matter whats under you.

    Been talking with some people about the upgrades I suggested and it looks like there would be some interest in a hover board based DM game type.

    Death Boarding
    • Grappling hook can be used on other players to knock them off their boards.
    • Some sort of melee attack that can be done while on the board.
    • Players spawn with no weapons and no weapon pickups on maps.
    • Custom skate park style maps.

    that would be cool, call it Hover-Deathmatch with map names like HD-xxxxxx and make it a gametype so it doesnt disturb other players that just want pure Deathmatch for example. Was pretty odd when looking for an Assault Server back with UT2k4 and when you joined it was some racing maps or Trial maps...

    Honestly, i would play this
