Why does UT3 on low look worse. TELL ME. SOME ON TELL ME.

Lol, thats a nice set of screenshots, glad you like the textures

The next update on the texures is hopefully next weekend, it will cover the SkyCity package. Package is now exceeding 412 Mb (old one is 275 Mb if i am correct)

Why does UT3 on low look worse. TELL ME. SOME ON TELL ME.

Cause the textures from the URProject are pushed to the very limit, i havnt got my hands on UT3 and speciffically the textures yet, so i cant tell for real. But if the textures match the UT2004 textures than the URP textures are 4x and mostly 16 times larger UT2004/UT3

maan! the first screenshot is priceless !
You must have used s3tc and OpenGL here - oldsCOOL, dark, beautiful and what I like most it's taken in 1280x1024 or something, and if I put in on my laptop's widescreen desktop (1280x800) as a wallpaper all HUD elements disappear.
Now I have a moody new desktop wallpaper and noone but me can understand that it's not just art, it's a geeky weird Unreal age fan stuff But no one needs to know that dark side of me

oXid used the S3TC textures from the Unreal-Retexturing-Project (URP) for those screenshots. Meaning, you wont be able to see that in the the S3TC textures from UT 2nd CD.

I am still working on a brandnew website dedicated for the URP and Unreal-Tournament-Retexturing-Project (UTRP ) as well as ports to UT2004, UT3 and GOW. Ill post that site when all is ready.

For now you need to go here:

    http://www.celticwarriors.net/Websit...TCTextures.htm

The 4 Master files there contain close to 1.5 gigabyte of new textures. For Unreal you can use them on and off line, but UT you can only use them for Single Player, not Multiplayer. If you want to play online than you have to use the (limited) S3TC texures from your 2nd CD.

btw... hopefully in a few days, when i receive my new motherboard and cpu... i'll be able to post some more... perhaps large resolution shots..

and one other note, the hud looks like crap because at the time, i had forced double size mode on in UT99

Yeah those are S3TC from the 2nd CD alright, as a matter a fact, those are NOT in the URP updates because Unreal doesnt have those specific packages.

But its a bit unclear what is horrible, the 2nd CD textures or the new ones from the URProject ? Or dont you like any of them ?

In any case its a personal choice, i played Unreal with software rendering for years, and i still think Unreal looks cool with sofware rendering Nothing wrong with those, despite i make the S3TC textures.

At the end its a very personal choice, some people like them others dont

sorry i wasn't makeing myself very clear.

i was refering to the orginal screenshot in the first post... they didn't look all the great to me..

however the post AFTER my screenshots... look pretty decent.

I think my screenshots look pretty damn good mind you..

I'm using the orginal double disc set... seeing as the GOTY eddition has actually LESS ST3C textures.... 103 in the GOTY vs 127 in the orginal version. (why?)

I never counted them all, so nu clue how many there are on each CD. I myself only have GOTY so i cant tell. But i thought there were more than 127 textures as S3TC.

If its that few i am really surprised lol, i thought it was way more, but as said i never counted them for real.....

How many i made in the meantime is also something i have absolute no idea, i only know that all utx packages combined are close to 1.5 gigabyte

Woha! Thanks for showing this stuff. Even the newest games do not look as gorgeous as the old Unreal 1 with the S3TC highres textures of the Unreal ReTexturing project.

    Praise DieHard for his work!
