    Default Smooth Weapon Drag

Does Unreal Tournament III have smooth weapon drag? It doesn't appear to have it. Smooth weapon drag just makes the game seem more natural.

It's where the weapon smoothly moves a little bit slower than the camera.

It would seem rather weird if the gun ends up firing at the crosshair even though it clearly isn't pointing in that direction. Although I suppose that weapon movement smoothing could be done only when the gun isn't firing.
To be very honest, I don't really care. I'll probably end up setting my weapons to hidden after a while anyway.

As long as it only affect the appearence of the gun and not the aim and as long as it's optional I don't care, but since I don't see the point of it I picked No.

If it wouldn't affect the crosshair to move it would still look unnatural..and I deffenitly don't want my aim to be affected by the movements..so defenitly no..

Hard to explain...when you accelerate a bowl with water...the water will not accelerate at the same time as the bowl itself..same with rotating your character ingame...his arm (gun) will move a short time after his body...:S

Considering that EPIC is promoting the fact that you can aim just as well while moving, jumping, and flipping (i.e. no artificial penalties to make it realistic), I think it's unlikely to happen.

This goes in the bucket of things marked 'could be nice but isnt unreal'. Along with reloading, kickback from shooting, guns rolling when dropped, moving faster/slower when carrying lighter/heavier weapons....etc..etc.

When you move your view, the weapon model takes a split second to start moving as well
So instead of staying where it is at all times and camera speeds(like in 2k4) the model will point off to the right/left until you stop

Disagreed. Unlike those other things, this doesn't impact gameplay at all and only makes it look more believable.

So your weapon isn't pointed where you're aiming when moving?

meh! i reckon ill have wepons non hodden for around a week then they will be forever gone with just a crosshair on screen. i find this is far better for aiming less distracting.

i get it you mean that the gun should point and shoot in the same direction where you are aiming

    Not necessarily, no.
Like I said, you could make it so the smooth movement is cancelled (your weapon snaps in place) the moment your fire a gun, or you could just ignore the small discrepancy between the gun and the crosshair entirely.

Sure why not. As long as it doesn’t affect the hitting of the target. I suppose you have a big heavy weapon in your hand and there might be a split second delay in the weapon direction as you accelerate or change direction.

I don't see how: if the moment you fire, the movement stops, it's not sufficient, there is still a discrepancy because the weapon wasn't pointing in the correct direction.

Anyhoo, I'd just be happy to see consistency in visualization regarding other more pressing problems: no more people stuck in meshes, no more odd camera views where you see parts of your vehicle at certain angles, no more lights that are obstructed yet fail to disappear instantly...

Also, I'd like to see my feet if I look down.

If I’m shooting directly below my raptor I want my raptor to turn transparent so I can see the target.

Like I said, the weapon would just snap in place instantly (i.e. point in the right direction the moment you press fire).

    Oh, I understand

As long as its not too much. Halo (don't start saying Halo is a bad game or whatever) use it, but only slightly. It does make it more immersing and I like it.

I'm for it, but its not like I will cry if its in or not.

I'll have my weapons hidden so they can move all they want just as long as my aim isn't being thrown off.

Ok, so most of you guys prefer to see your weapon as stiff as a board when u move left/right , right?

I see that some of u still don't understand what he means (i understood from the title) . AKA weapon bob L/R U/D...

    Like CoD 2...

I would love to see that because i don't hide my weapons like u guys do, and seeing my weapon glued in the same place would suk.
    It's ours now!

I think what he means is just like the gun of the Goliath and some other vehicles. You have already moved, but the gun is still slowly moving to the right position.

Anyhow, I really would not want that for normal weapons. Not for UT

Now that I know what the OP means, I ultimately don't want such a feature in UT. I think that would be cool, along other more realistic features, for another game, however.

Having the weapons instantly snapping in place takes away every bit of naturalness that smooth weapon drag gives you, and then some.

You mean just like in UT2004 and (from what we have seen so far) UT3?

Feature sounds nice, and I can't find any drawbacks, but not that nice.

Smooth weapon drag is just visual, not related to gameplay. Counter Strike Source had it and it look amazing. Gunreal, that mod for Unreal Tournament 2004, has it and it looks great in the trailers.

Even if it only looks more natural when you're not firing, it still looks more natural when you're not firing. So not only does it not take away and then some naturalness, it doesn't even take away every bit of it.

Actually, The weapon's movement is exactly opposite to what you guys think.

The Weapon starts moving a split second before the First person view, not the view, and then the weapon...

That is even worse, but thankfully Epic would never add crap like that.

this is the most ridiculous idea I have ever heard.

How about just have the damned gun point where your crosshairs are and be done with it? It'd be unnatural if your gun and/or view DIDN'T point where your crosshairs were.
