    MUTATOR HL2 Monsters and vehicles for UT2004

    For all you Half Life 2 and Invasion fans I introduce HL2 Monsters and vehicles for UT2004. The monsters include all your favourite HL2 monsters and include a couple of extra ones for added interest. There are three vehicles that are player usable, the Strider, GunShip and Helicopter. Also there are summonable enemy versions to make your experience a little more complete. Full instructions are included.

    It doesn't need that one. I don't have that file and it runs on my rig.

    Please ensure you have deleted ALL original HL2 files before installing this. I only adapted the Anims and the u file but to ensure it all runs ok do as I said, should be ok then.

    This is the error i got m8.

    Once i put the file in it worked. It might be because i ran it as a server.

    Anyways thanks for a cool monster pack Duca well done. Top notch work love the new monsters in it.

    Maybe, anyway can you email me as I have changed the file, only the HL2MonstersLite3.u file though. There was one error and even though it was not causing problems (apart from filling the log up) I changed it to stop that.

    It works without the anims file for me. And works great. I've installed MonsterManager just to see everything in this pack - never played invasion before but with those monsters it's pure fun. Even though the Strider does weird things when walking on a slope.
    And thanks for the PM Duca, I'm really impressed you sent PMs just to tell about a single file - that's how every company should treat its customers

    Nice work, any chance you'd do some player models? I'd like to play Combine vs rebels matches.

    I know there was that one HL2 player model pack out, but it didn't have the Combine or rebels, just some civil protection and scientists/civilians.

    OMG, many apologies Eliot. It certainly was not meant to be an oversight, I did look into all the read me's to try to find out who did what. I have amended the first post accordingly but I am sorry I left you off the read me included. As I stated all I did was to get it all together and I don't want any credit at all.

    There's already a HL2 Character Pack out there but I have took the liberty to port over one of my favorite Combine a$$holes...

    He's just a beta model I whipped up months ago, some parts on him I haven't the slightest clue on fixing but if someone wanna try I can give them the 3DS Max Scene of the model.

    As of the moment I gotta somehow fix his crotch guard, his collar and the pant legs by the boots, I guess by then I can release him to those who wanna try him out...

    [Out of the subject, I fixed up my own version of the textures used in the HL2 mutator cuz I wasn't feeling the ones currently used, so I painstakingly re-masked, lassoed, unlit and speculate all the right parts for the textures used on the models, to resemble the types used in HL2, just gotta make some specular shaders for the headcrabs and zombies and I release them for those who wants them...]

    The problem is I can't get it to move along with the model, I don't know what bone I should attach it to when working in Max, sheesh... vertecies can be a pain in the a$$ when assigning them to the right bones.

    I've found a bug/glitch with the strider if you jump on to the head section the strider will suddenly float upwards towards the sky, carrying the player uptowards the limits of the level, if you enter it when it is up at the top you can have a strider that can walk through the air while it is decending.

    They are not perfect by a long way but they were so unique something was better then nothing. If there is a coder and modeler who wants to perfect it feel free. I have done all I can, hope you like them for what they are

    Finally got a chance to try the Gunship, Helicopter and Strider, and WOW, awesome! Looks great, handles great, plays great.

    Couple of suggestions:
    • The Gunship seems to do hardly any damage at all except at extremely close range.
    • Strider leg collision doesn't seem to match the actual legs. Karma collision blocks don't animate. Epic "fixx0rd" that when they removed the Flying Levi exploit. Remove karma collision from those blocks (leaving zero and non-zero extent collision) and the blocks will stick with the legs.
    • Gunship and Helicopter weapons have a wind-up time, but there is no real disadvantage to simply holding down fire forever. I fly across the map with the fire button firmly pressed down just so I won't have to wait for the wind-up when I find a target. Perhaps you could make the weapons overheat after sustained use.

    Couple of requests:
    • How did you get the Strider to animate like that? Tweening? I'd love to see the code.
    • How did you get the Strider's altfire beam to stick to the Strider if it moves after firing? I've tried that but it wouldn't work for me. I'd love to see the code.

    I had to make the collision act as it does because of spawning issues with it, it was a hash job but no matter how I tried this was the only way I could get it to spawn without disappearing below maps. As for the code, I only added a few bits and pieces but I am not the author. Decompile and you will get to see what's what.
