LOVE the new Lancer

First off, I would like to say that anyone who disagrees with me need not flame...simply don't post at all.

Secondly, a HUGE thank you to Epic for making this game the way it was meant to be played, with Lancers, not shotties. This is by far the best patch so far. Keep em coming.

I just got 24 kills with lancer in 16 rounds its fantastic now.

It now feels that you need to stay on cover and think about your moves instead of running around with the ****ing shotgun shooting everyone with no tactic whatsoever.

I think that this was the way that EPIC wanted Gears to be like.

I rarely ever used the lancer. And i still rarely use the lancer. Im more of a shotty guy myself. But i am very happy about the new lancer. Whatever gives me more of a challenge. And makes the game more interesting is cool with me.

It NEVER was all shotties. The people just sucked with the lancer and didn't know how to use it properly. I haven't got a chance to play it but I don't really want to get killed by a noob with the lancer and it's their first time using it.

I dunno i rarely get downed by lancers...people still suck with it even with the upgrade. Also can anyone answer this? Why do people stand there firing the lancer back at me even thought their cog thing is filling up in like 2 seconds. I always roll back or get some cover but people just insist on standing there and taking it. Almost makes this game to easy..

Someone tried to convince me the other day that anyone who uses the Lancer is a noob. Then after getting destroyed several rounds, he started using the Lancer himself. It was pretty funny.

I am glad that people are using the Lancer more. You have to be smarter, now. Numerous times since the update I have had better battles with that weapon. And numerous times my ass has been kicked by that weapon since the update. Of course, now people will accuse others of Lancer-whoring. At least there's firing squad action happening. I don't know how many times team members and I have completely laid waste to an enemy from a covered position just lancering the hell out of them. Got a lot more kills with it now.

I still love to use the shottie, but jus tthe people who think they are superman who used to get away with running through pounds of Lancer ammo kind of made the game lose it's glory. Most of the matches just ended up being who got the first melee in.

actually its the other way, its way easier to land a headshot on someone dancing that someone spraying u with the new lancer, it downs u so fast

Personally, I hate the new Lancer. I had no problems taking out those rushers before, but now it's a long-range shotty. It makes everyone a Lancer whore now and that's even more annoying.

Exactly!!! It is to the mid-range what the shotgun is to close-range, that makes the game balanced. And FYI, the shottie was put in this game so that when forced into a close range position, like around corners, you would have some sort of defence besides a chainsaw. This game is leaning on the Lancer side in how it was designed. For example, you get it in campaign b4 the shotgun, you start with it in your spawn and the cover system for this game is very good for the stop-and-pop.

Damn JonSolo, are you a parrot, you've been saying the same thing on mulitple threads. The Lancer still takes skill, I still see people who are lancering getting killed left and right. Accuracy and adaptation to lag still need to be applied. But it makes it a little easier for everyone to use, therefore adding more depth to the game as you cannot go running headfirst to use you shotty. I think it's a VERY welcome addition and makes the game more interesting.

Perhaps you don't understand that powering up the Lancer ADDED skill by getting rid of shottie whores running through a clip and a half of Lancer fire to get thier noobish kill.

I really enjoy the new lancer as well. I'm getting more long-range downs/kills with it since the update. Not a ton more -I was pretty good with the "weaker" lancer before the update -but still, it kills noticably faster, especially when mowing down players as they try to pick up power weapons.

I do have a question for the forum though: was the lancer's overall power enhanced, or did Epic just remove the idiotic damage reduction it suffered from at longer ranges? From what I've observed, it seems to be the latter.

i personally hate the new lancer because i thought it was perfectly fine b4. now the lancer completely overpowers the shotgun. a team can just sit bak and lancer the hell out of everyone.. yes i know there would be ways to kill the campers eventually, but its still annoying as hell. and running in with a shotgun is strategy, if u can't down someone with the OLD lancer who is running right at you then you need to question yourself, not the game

People can down you 3 times from a distance. Where's the skill in that?

All right. People have been arguing about the lancer update left and right but here is the FACTS: (IMO)

It is OVERPOWERED. W/o an active is does INSANE damage. Imagine it with a perfect reload. The current power it has NOW should be the power is has AFTER an active people.

It gets annoying when you have three people lancering a sniper and 3 shotgunners getting their arses whooped because all people do is stay back and lancer. Besides Gears gets REALLY SLOW for me when that happens. I love the feeling of the andrenaline when people are chasing me, I throw a frag or two shotgun people, run away, take cover, pop someone and then get killed because I screw over which forces me to do better. And don't say the sniper doesn't have skill because three people lancering you in open space is CRAZY. In places like Mauselaum, it isn't a problem since there is a nice amount of cover so it's easy to avoid.

Gears lost its versatility. Now people don't pick up power weapons, but stay back and lancer. Now all people pick up are explosive weapons and snipers and tourqes get left behind.

Gears was a game you needed to put time and effort into to get good at it. Now some office guy can rent it from blockbuster and be considered "good" only 3 HOURS after he plays multiplayer. I remember me playing multi-player. I used to suck for my first month, but learned where to use what, when and why and adapted. Now after the update,I can just stay back and lancer and get easy kills, especially on warzone, yet gain no real skill. And don't say stuff like "bullrushers have no skill." Not true. It is easy to avoid a bullrusher by rolling to the side a second before he reaches you and give yourself the first shot, opening up an advantage.

I think it is sad. Again, I am simply posting my own opinion and I am not ranting, dissing, cussing, or flaming anybody. If you have a civilized comment to make, make it. If not , keep your thoughts to yourself. Thanks for listening to me.

I'm getting bored playing it online now since the last update because all the skill has being taken out the game now cus of the lancer whores.

Now in almost every game you have at least 2-3/4 people just sitting back lancering everyone. Its a joke.

Its power should be halfed then it would be perfect. I mean comon, a quarter of a clip w/o active reload downs you. Its ridiculous.

All the people complaining that prior to the update people just shotguned, are just the people that sucked with it.

Shotgun takes skill to use, while the lancer does not.
