    Hey, so ive been seening in a lot of online games people just melee. One hit from a pistol is powerful as a shot with the sniper no active reload. Plus the pistol gives the stun so you cant shoot them. I have over 3k kills in this game and ive been seeing this in everygame. You get tag team pistolers thats booth hit you at same time and you die. Please epic get rid of the stun, and only make it half the damage of the usual pistol or other melee hit item.

    Let's see. No is the answer. Pistol Whipping is a good way to kill your enemy. It's your fault if you go into two enemies that are either a)working together or b)just wondering around. More then likely you are traveling alone, which is dumb, or your teamates refuse to follow you because you are dumb. I think you need to learn tactics to achieve success. That is all.

    Next you'll be telling me the Hammerburst is unfair. Afterall, you only have to melee them and then drill them with one burst of fire to drop them.

    The pistol is pretty fair compared to a few of the other weapons.

    I was playing a match last night where one guy kept drying whenever someone pistol whipped him, or meleed with the sniper, "Why can't you press anything other than the B button?" No one on our team was even being cheap, he was just a cry baby. If you keep getting pistol whipped, you need to change your strategy. Stick with a teammate, two people laying lancer fire on someone running will down the runner quickly. If someone is close by with a pistol, dive away, or just move out of melee range. It's a part of the game, it keeps people on their feet. Learn to adapt.

    seriously, stop you whining.

    Let me give you an example of how i think;

    for example. If there is one weapon that is overpowered, it is the torque bow, (1 shot from any distance, you're dead) but you don't see me complain about it? i learn to counter it instead, jumping around does wonders against people with a bad aim. and there is nothing that stops me from using the torque-bow.

    just accept the game as it is, i'd not like to be blasted to pieces by the shotgun everytime i suprise someone with the pistol-whip.

    please dont compare aim skill weapons as the torque bow with button smasher melees. i agree that the melee attacks are to strong...actually the stune effect. i can live with pistol whipping but what realy pisses me off is the long shot. its deadly on every range...there is no disadvantage as the lancer or shotgun has. in general every melee attack is too strong (imo). and yes i do use it...but not in matches with friends. one hit and thats hit. if hit shot him short before, fine he es down. if not i try to get a close distance weapon or try to run away to use my long distance weapon.

    When I first started playing I too was dumbfounded as to how a couple pistol whips dealt more damage than a half a clip from the lancer or 4-5 bullets from the pistol. I guess I realized that all the locusts and COG soldiers are basically BEASTS and a punch from them is like getting hit by a car at 30 mph.

    If you see someone running around with the pistol you have a 50% chance to knowing that they're either going to shoot you with it or whip you - actually more like 80% whip 20% shoot Lol. So keep your distance and call a near ally incase.

    Nothing wrong with the melee bash; if they miss,they're wide open to being shot to pieces (as I have been victim of many times while attempting said melee),so there's your counter. And they need to be within range of you in the first place.

    Melee has to be very powerful in this game to encourage people to keep their distance from one another. If the melee is toned down, and the stun removed in such a way that it would take roughly 4 hits to down someone, you'd see a lot more people getting in close and getting kills in close, granted it would be with the shotgun, but do you really want to turn this game into more of a run and gun shotgun fest than it already is online?

    Toning down the melee would completely enpower the shotgun, and chainsaw to a lesser extenet, and also change the dynamic of the game. The melee attack being so powerful is pretty intregral to how the game plays, you can't change it drastically without changing the style of the game, and I think it'd definitely be a change for the worse.

    That said, I do feel a little cheated by melee kills sometimes, but, hey, that's the breaks, I'll just blow theier face out of the back of their skull next round.

    melee has to be put in to keep the game from just being a run and gun game of whoever shot first. this way it is tactical and team based

    CSS only has the knife and no guns to melee and that is intense on tactics.

    Yes, I hate the pitol whip crap, it sucks. You get hit with one or two times your down, but you can only melee with the shotgun once. Now that is bull****!

    Deal with the melee. It is only at extreme close ranges, so if you have a shotty, just stay out of the melee range. Odds are they will try to hit you, in which case you just stun em (since you are outside their range!) then finish em.

    Melees are fine, though fixing bullet lag would help.
    For gears 1,2, and 3, I have one thing to say:
    Lancer Forever!

    I LOVE DBS USERS!!! They always remain a source of easy kills for me.

    I agree with your overall opinions.

    However, i think think that the sniper melee really needs to be toned down, maybe to the damage of the HOD (which takes 3 hits to down), or the timing of the shotgun double melee, It would make the sniper less of an jack of all trades, and force people to alternate their weapons more depending on the situation.

    If i get perfected reloaded at point blank against a sniper when i am wielding a close range weapon, thats good skill by a sniper under pressure (or sometimes luck...), but being slapped in the face twice just because you managed to avoid being downed from afar always sucks.

    Yep, a host called me a "pistol noob", when I shot him then hit him with a pistol as he was running at me with a charged shotgun, oh how I laughed.


    It appears every weapon on this game is "noobish" to use, shotgun/lancer/pistol/sniper/tagger/boom/...rolling whore.

    Well guys, for me i can take the whole team shotgunning. But I like to get close so I can kill it on hit but soon as they whip me im stunned and they hit me in the back. Also gears of war is a shooting game, and its meant to be shooting game. Not a boxing game.

    I dont mind the chainsaw and grenada tagging but i do mind the meleeing its the only thing i cant counter. I try the roll away they still hit me.

    I'd actually like to see a slightly less stun duration. Not alot, just enough so the stunned player actually has a chance of escaping via roll. The damage is fine though.

    I don't mind the melee with the pistol or the shotgun, but take notice how it the melee seems quicker with the sniper rifle than with the shot gun.

    What I don't like is the fact that the shotgun is a close range weapon, but when you get within the proper range for a shotgun blast kill, the sniper rifle has more of an advantage with the melee.

    I mean, two melees to down someone, but three shotgun blasts and someone is still standing?

    I say the melee stun should be shortened just a tiny bit, and it should take at least three melees to down someone.

    I've killed two guys who had shotguns at close range using the sniper melee. That's too much of an advantage for a gun that can be lethal close and long range.

    Actually the sniper melee has a range that is outside of the melee animation. There are plenty times I have been melee'd and have melee'd others who are slightly out of my range. In truth it takes no skill to do so, and makes the sniper far to dangerous, because if you have the shotgun and stay out of melee range, you are also outside the most effective range for the shotgun. A good sniper would be able to hit you with one shot at close range and then move in for a quick melee.

    There have been many times where I switched from a shotgun to a sniper rifle to take on enemies that were approaching from around a corner.

    unfortunately, the fact you cannot counter is m ore of a fact of lag than game design. This is apparent when trying to double melee the host, and noticing that he can always get a shot off in between hits, unlike other players.

    There have been very few games that i have played in which i have been able to (off-host) get a counter shot off in between melee hits. You need a quick connection to the host in my experience.

    Im unstopable with hammer of dawn and shot gun and im ok with sniper But win most if i had a capture card you guys would think i was the best. Once i had 8 shotgun headshot with no active in a row. =)

    This game is a shotgun-FEST!!! If it's not one shot kills, its headshots from across the map. If you are plain dumb enough to let peopl THAT close to you, you deserve to be pistolwhipped forever.

    No the pistol whippers come to me and i blow they head off now. But if they hit you from the back they hit u again and ur dead.Also if two people melee you at once ur dead to so i think its unfair

    In my Opinion melee seems too powerful to a point. All the COG characters are wearing big bulky armor and the Locust have their extreme strength and some wear armor. I dont really see how a pistol whip could do much unless it hits them in the head.

    Keep the Torque Bow melee that one makes sense, but otherwise melee should only knock the opponet back *like when you shoot someone when they have a chainsaw out.* But if you get behind someone then you should be able to do a blow to the head with it

    every weapon act differently. to kill a foe with the torque bow you must charge it first.
    to kill a foe with the pistol/longshot/melee takes little skill or judgement.
    show them who's boss with a better weapon.
    other weapons are situational E.G. - a guy runs round a corner only to find the chainsaw of death waiting.
    learn the maps and find the best route to your favourite weapon in that map. you are sorted.
    In a world dominated by war there can be no spectators.

    In GOW of you believe (and thorefore not guilty) there can be no escape, no cowardice, no mercy and no glitching then you are a commendable player.
