    The Sons Of Sera

Death, destruction and a fight to survive, these were facts of life for the stranded. And today was no different then any other since Emergence Day, but Charles had been wishing that it was. He had lost everything, except his life in one swift moment, and now he lay among with rubble of his once glorious past or at least to him. He had never been wealthy but in his own eyes he was; a family, a job, a home, and week from his wedding. He could not have asked for a better life. Then the invasion happened and his livelihood was stolen away and turned him into what he was now a, stone cold killer. Though he hated remembering his past, and it always seemed to return to him at the worst times. Times when he needed his composure, strength, and it wasn’t ever a good memory, it was always the same vibrant and yet horrible nightmare that would haunt him until his eyes closed for the last time.

Tranquility and excitement filled the Gilbert home, the engagement party for their son and future daughter in-law was going as planned. Decorations, balloons, food galore, friends, and family from all across the nation. Charles’ parents stood on the 2nd story balcony observing what all their hard work had accomplished.

“Don’t they look happy, I mean I can’t remember when I saw so much joy on Charlie’s face,” said his mother with a smile, “I only hope that their love will last.”

Norbert his father was quick to reply, “You mean like mine and yours? Or my divorced parents?” he smiled wickedly, “Come on Mary, what possibly could go wrong?”

Down in the garden Charles scanned the faces of the guests while looking for Jessica, but he was unable to find her. He caught a glimpse of his parents staring down upon the participants and decided to start up a little fun.

“Hey, are you two, too old to enjoy yourselves, or do you have “others” way to enjoy each other?” he yelled skywards, so everyone including his parents heard.

Charles could see that his comments had flustered them and that they were trying to reply, while still being civil. But he knew that this was going to turn ugly, and it was coming fast.

Norbert stared down his son with a look that could have pierced stone, and simply stated, “You’ll be lucky to get to your wedding if you keep that up,” trying not laugh he added, “I brought you into this world and I sure as f*cking hell, I will take you out!…”

Before Charles could reply, Jessica stepped in and intervened on the companies behalf, she knew where this argument would go and she want to stop it before it got there. Jessica had seen how violent these joking feuds had gotten, and she didn’t want anymore harm to come upon Charles.

“You both know that if it comes down to that, I will have to restrain both of you again and I don’t think either of you want to happen?”

Being a Gear Enforcer had its perks, and both Charles and Norbert remembered how quickly they had been disabled the last time their arguments took a turn for the worse. Both men began to rub certain muscles where phantom pain began to course through as a reminder of what did and possibly was about to reoccur. Both men fell silent and look carefully upon Jessica as she began to speak

“Now that is better, I so glad tha…”

There was a tremor, Sera had had stable tectonics for the past 300 years, even through all the battles from the Pendulum Wars there had never been a recorded tremor or earth quake. A sense of perplexity began to set in among the guest, but they thought nothing of it at first.

“That was weird, I wonder what that was.” Stated one guest.

“I believe that was earthquake?” said another with stout hesitation

“No, no an earth quake would have been bigger and you wouldn’t be standing here talking about it neither.” Commented on of the older quest. Many other speculations began to break out among the guests and the Gilbert family. When a guest proposed that there militants beginning to start their attack on the C.O.G. Regime Jessica had to step in.

“Come on now, don’t be ridiculous. The wars are long over and any resistance, if any, would be destroyed as soon as they opened fire upo…”

Once again the was a tremor but this time is wasn’t dissipating, in fact it was growing with strength. A panic began to set in among the guests and family members, people began to run for cover on the inside of the home.

For the first time in his fifteen years of knowing Jessica, he saw something he had never seen before, fear. He didn’t know what it was but it was as if she knew what was happening.

“Jessica! Jessica! Why are you still standing, come and get into cover!” But his pleas fell upon deaf ear. “Jessica, what is the matter with you can’t you see that this is dangerous?!”

He ran to her with all haste, trying to get to her before something happened. When he reached her, he saw that her complexion had changed from a light shade of pink to as white as a ghost, and shaking worse the quake itself. He didn’t care about what scared her, he was more worried about her safety at the moment. Then Jessica began to mumble,

“I can’t, it can’t be, they can’t be here. We heard them but we didn’t listen, they were right!? No, this can’t be happening! They are here and oh my God!”

“Jessica, what are you talking about? What? Who? Jessica answer me, for the love of God!" Charles was frantically trying everything in his power to bring her back to reality and get her to safety. Finally she began to snap out of it, as Charles began to pull her toward the house.

She stop twenty feet from the door and yelled to Charles, "Charles, We need to get away from here, Now!" she started to pulled Charles away from the house.

"Jess, what do you mean away from here, here is safe! If we leave, there no telling what will happen to us or "our" family."

"We won't have a family or a life for that matter if we stay here any longer! Now let's go!" She began to guide him away, but Charles stopped and took one last look at his home only to see the horror as the earth beneath his home exploded skyward. Stunned he began to run back to the ruins of his home only to be man handle by his fiancée and lead down the streets and alleys towards old industrial district. He didn't know why but he could see that Jessica was determined to get there as soon as possible.

Charles was tired, emotionally torn, and confused more now then he had been in his entire lifetime, he wanted to ask questions but he figured the answers were coming but he knew not soon enough.

As they ran he could hear more explosions and what sounded like heavy gun fire not far behind them. He was scared, he didn't know what was after them but he knew that what ever it was gaining ground. Panic was beginning to set in, he was worried about his family and wondering if anyone had survived. He promised himself that after all this was over he would go back look for survivors.

As the factories began to come into range, he could see the black smoke stacks, rusty imulsion drills and processing plants. There were abandoned satellite casings everywhere. "This must be where they began building the imulsion satellites after the Pendulum wars," he thought to himself in shear amazement of the quantity and quality of the designs.

Charles trusted Jessica and kept following her blindly through abandoned factories and dislodged mining equipment, he didn't understand what was driving her but it had kept him alive and for that he was grateful. Her pace began to slow as they came to their unknown destination, or at least to him. He could see that they were standing before an imulsion processing plant, and as they began to enter, explosions began to shake the district and he caught a glimpse of what had been chasing them.

A horde, of lizard like creatures, with gigantic spiders, and sadistic looking dinosaurs. Jessica began to run again as the smoke stacks began to explode and crash towards the ground.

"I knew it! We should have listened. God, maybe we can still make it in time." She said to herself while dodging falling bricks and large pieces of steel. "Charles we are almost there, don't stop running!"

He had no intention to, in fact he began to push himself harder then he had before their lives were at stake and what ever was going to be in front of them had to be better than the horde following behind.

I like hows its not necessarily about soldiers. It seems the Enforcer makes it kinda policeish and that is cool.

    Exclamation Chapter 2

Charles' doubt was beginning to grow with each passing moment, "How could I have left his entire to family to die? Why didn't Jessica at least try to help them too, and where is she leading me?" his thoughts also walked him down a path the he would never venture again, "I wish I could have died with them. It would have been better than running from a horde malicious bloodthirsty monsters."

A fist flew, and knocked him to the cold cement. Charles was dazed and as he looked up at Jessica, he saw how her complexity had changed from ghostly white to a blood red. Jessica had never struck him, and he knew something must have really pissed her off. Then it hit him twice as hard as Jessica's fist, "I was thinking aloud."

"Damn right you were, I didn't have to bring you here but I did! And you are thinking that dying would be better than this. How dare you!" The anger in her voice echoed off the empty pipes and cold brick walls. "You are dishonoring the fallen, they died so you and I could live and you want to back and join them? What is the matter with you!? You know what, if you want to be with them so badly you can either wait here for those things to catch up, or you can come with me and live? Make you choice."

Charles was stunned, he had never expect her to show so much passion about a family that wasn't her own. He was hurting inside but some how Jessica's stern words, had broken through the pain and made him realize the gift that he had been given. His life! He stood up and hugged Jessica.

"Thank you," he began to cry "I am sorry, I wasn't thinking about it in that way." He wiped the tears from his face that were running like torrent river, "lets get the hell out of here." Jessica smiled and nodded in agreement, as a barrage of missiles pounded through walls they had just come through.

Once again they began to run, without any concern for their own well being. The look on Jessica's face was a determined one, one to survive and to bring her lover to safety. Then she saw it! The door! Jessica grabbed Charles and pulled him along.

"It's just up a head, hurry we don't have much time."

When they reached it, Charles saw that it had an electronic lock and shadows lurking from under the door. This only added onto his confusion, while Jessica frantically pushed the numbers on the keypad and the door slowly began to wedge open. They had not gotten more than fifteen before they were greeted by two huge shadowy figures.

“Identify yourselves” stated one coldly with a Lancer poised and ready, as he stepped into the light. Charles could see that, he was an C.O.G. Enforcer like Jessica, but his armor was black as night, and heavier too. His face was scarred and tattooed, there was also evidence of imulsion burns. Jessica stepped forward and stated.

“I’m Major Jessica Anderson and this is my 2nd in command, Lieutenant Charles Gilbert, if you don’t move I will kill you where you stand.” She was shaking because of the quakes, explosions and the fact that Charles was only a simple engineer, but Jessica carried herself well enough to convince the Enforcers otherwise.

“My apologies, Major. They are waiting for you in the bunker.”

    “Thank you, as you were.”

Another door opened behind the enforcers and they hurried through. Charles was stunned that Jessica's lie had actually worked, but he was glad it did. Just as the were pasted the threshold the door slammed shut behind them. The sudden jolt of air made the hair on Charles' neck stand.

"Well, I guess we go forward" as he looked at Jessica with a scared smile.

They continued down the long corridor filled with black pipes and faint lights, a certain eeriness had overtaken Charles, who still didn’t even remotely understand what was happening. The world was still shaking and exploding, Charles could hear heavy pounding on the doors that they had just come through. This made adrenaline rush through his body with a new fervor, and made thoughts of his family to come to the forefront of his mind but he didn’t want to think about that situation again. There were a dim set of lights at the end of the tunnel and voices that could be heard as well death destruction behind them. But one male voice could be heard better than any of the others.

“God damnit, how the f*ck did they emerge without us knowing it?" hollered the voice from an aging veteran, "Your dumb*sses better come up with answer soon! People’s lives are at stake! Where in god’s f*cking name is Major Anderson?”

A young corporal took the opportunity to answer, “Sir, Major Anderson is at her engagement party. But, Colonel, I don’t know how where it was being held, or even how far it was from here, but we lost radio contact when "they" began emerging. We believe it has to do with one of their creatures, Sir. For all we know Sir, she is MIA and possible KIA.”

“An engagement party are you f*cking kidding me corporal?! The world is about to f*cking end and the head god damn f*cking project is at an engagement party! And now you are telling me that we have lost radio contact?! I swear if this situation gets any worse than it already is we are shutting this sh*t hole of a project and evacuating to Jacinto. And we don't hear from her in the next f*cking five minutes, I am going to have my foot so far up your as…” Just as the Colonel was about to finish Jessica busted through the door, but not before telling Charles to stay in the hall and stay quiet.

“Colonel Hoffman, I am here, Major Jessica Anderson reporting.”

Colonel Hoffman was pleased and pissed at the same time, he was glad that the C.O. of the project had actually shown up but pissed that he couldn’t beat the sh*t out of the up start corporal. The colonel knew more about was going then he was going to lead on but he sure as hell wasn’t going to let this small group of officers know.

“About f*cking time, what the f*ck happened? Did you get lost on the way here? Or was the d*ck so good that you couldn’t get it out of you in time to leave before all hell broke loose? Well Major, I'm waiting?” He figured this would be the ticket to hit the right nerves and get the answers he needed. He hit nerves alright, but they weren't Jessica's.

Charles who was waiting in the dark corridor, couldn’t take how this Hoffman character had degraded his fiancée and so he decided to step in and speak his mind, though his rare emotions were being driven by the testosterone and over secretion of adrenaline. He busted in the room without thinking and pointed his finger angrily in the Colonel’s direction.

“How dare you *sshole, who the f*ck do you think you are. You know what I don’t care, I am going beat your f*cking *ss right here right now.”

Hoffman was stunned for two reasons, first of all there was the civilian in a top secret area. And secondly this upstart actually stood up to him, he figured someone had to let him in and instead of acknowledging him first, he reach for his side arm and pointed it right Charles.

“How the f*ck did you get in here, and choose you words carefully cause you pretty face depends on it?!” Hoffman stared coldly into fiery eyes of this hot head young man. He smirked as Charles began to realize the predicament he had gotten himself into with his rash actions. He panicked and broke his glaze with Hoffman and tried to consult with Jessica, who was trying to keep her composure and dig up the courage to stand up to her C.O., and finally she snapped.

“Colonel, No! I brought him here! This is my fiancée, and I apologize for his outburst and for bringing him here but he is all I have left even though he is still lost in this god awful sh*tty mess.”

“So, the d*ck was so good that you had to bring it along with ya? You f*cking slut how dare you. You have just put this whole project and operation at risk! Maybe if you had spent more time working with the f*cking project we wouldn't be in this, God damn…!”

Charles interrupted, “Will someone please explain what the hell is going on, and what the f*ck this project that you keep speaking of is?” he spied a lancer sitting against the wall and once again he let his emotions get the best of him and he rushed it before anyone realized what was happening, he revved the chainsaw bayonet and aimed at Hoffman’s head. “Some one better start talking before I make Swiss cheese out of the Colonel’s ugly face.”

Hoffman now lowered is weapon, not because he feared for his life because he wanted the civilian to make a mistake so that he could kill him with his bare hands. Hoffman in a softer tone ask, “Well, is someone gonna tell him, them Locusts ain’t going to wait forever.”
I fixed alot and added some more Drama, I gave the people what they wanted Controversy and a stronger female character!

    Exclamation Chapter 3

Boomers! Grenadiers!” the shout rang across the ruins of D’lanor.

Charles snapped out of his nightmare, as a barrage of boomshots battered the office building across the street, it had happened again! His past kept reemerging when he needed it not to, and the contingent of boomers and grenadiers that he had been searching for the last six days had begun to advance to on his position while he was reminiscing. More than once his nightmare had almost cost him his life, and he wasn’t going to let it get the best of him today.

The sky over D’lanor was red as blood in the early morning sunrise. Charles loaded the Fate Bringer, a modified Long Shot, and took aim, looking for the head of the snake, and as soon as he had found it, the destruction of this contingent would be swift . His experience as an engineer prior to E-Day allowed him to modify his weapons in ways never thought possible, his favorite modification was the weapon that he now held. It was no longer a simple bolt action rifle, it now had six round clips, semi-auto capabilities, and his favorite of all was a blade of pure imulsion underneath the barrel, a trinket he recieved on E-Day all the those years ago.

The past three years had really changed him, he was no longer scared of death, he welcomed it and passed to the victims of his rage. Charles had no remorse for what he did and what’s worse, is that he enjoyed doing it. Every kill seemed to make his thirst for blood grow, and it had reached the point where he didn’t care what happened to him as long as he was the last one standing. Charles’ name became unimportant for he in his own mind was no longer that person: weak, scared, and dependent. His small band of former Gears, Enforcers, and Stranded only knew him as the Dark One and The One that Avenges Alone, they never questioned his past for they would rather be on the right hand of the devil then in his path.

The Lone Avenger and Dark One suited him well, though he was not without compassion. He had become a hero of the stranded and enemy of the C.O.G. and Locust hordes. He wasn’t a soldier, he was something greater, a mercenary. He worked to protect the people that were so carelessly abandoned after E-Day, like him. His goal now was to take down the government that rejected him and destroy the ones that killed his loved ones.

The boomers had now reload and aimed for a six story apartment building one hundred and fifty feet from his position. He had men in there and there was no time to spare.

“Johnson, Alexander, Jones! Boomers are looking at your position start evacing NOW!”

“Sir, we already on our way out, is there anything else?”

“Get everyone back to the river and across the bridge, they aren’t playing games and I am not losing anyone to the likes of these b*st*rds.” His word had become law, his experience with the locust tactics was unprecedented and the men had learned the hard way about consequences of disobeying.

Six months prior, small group of his men decided they could stop a lone Brumak with a simple flank, Charles had ordered everyone to hold their positions until he gave the go ahead. But they rushed in blindly and were captured by a group of Theron Guards. All the men were taken to the frontlines and tortured, Charles was grieved by their mistake and spared them from the pain. He killed everyone of them and said with a stern correction over the radios.

“That is what happens when you disobey f*cking orders.”

Charles had regretted his decision but he couldn’t let his men lose their courage in face of the godless locusts. But there was never another incident after that day, and he honored the fallen men with that of heroes. Now he knew that everyone would evacuate and he wouldn’t have to save them from torture.

“Sir, we are evacing, are you coming too?”

“No, I have a deathblow to give, but you concern for my safety is touching Johnson. But seriously I will be fine just get everyone to safety, I will back a…” The radio fell silent as a dozen boomshots leveled the apartment complex.

Charles knew that it was time to start, he slammed the imulsion blade of the Fate Bringer into concrete, took aim and scoped in looking for the commander. The Locusts had begun to hide them from any random sniper with the balls to take a shot. It was a trap that had been working against all the C.O.G. elites but not against Charles, he knew the signs of a leader and he would make sure that one would not see the night.

The locust hordes saw the humans retreating and a group of bold grenadiers made the decision to charge in after them, only to met by a cluster of trip mines. Gar’kut was furious, he knew who his foe was, he had seen the destruction The Dark One had caused. He had become a thorn in the side of the horde. Every advancement their army made, was forced back by the destruction of entire contingent by this one man and his band of mercenaries. These men had no fear of kryll, in fact the kryll would not journey anywhere near them. The reason for this was unknown to the Locust, but if they ever found out, it would be the final straw for the human resistance. What ever it was, it would allow to move at night as well as in day, without fear of the repercussions.

Gar’Kut, had met this man once three years prior, on E-Day, and he left a mark on him that he would never forget. He had only been a mere drone then but with every kill his fame grew among his cohorts and he soon began to climb the ranks and earned a spot as a commander. And now he was back to finish off this Dark One and move on the Jacinto Plautue, and earn the respect of the Queen.

Figuring that the mine field was disbursed he sent in half his grenadiers and a dozen boomers to charge the humans by the river, but only to find out there wasn’t a mine field this time but timed explosive devices on the supports of two ten story apartment buildings. The explosion shook the street and both buildings clasped towards it, and killed most of the group. The rest either charged forward only to be taken down by lancer fire or retreated back to their ranks. Charles smirked, then began laughing with the sheer stupidity of the horde.

“Morons, they would jump into an Imulsion lake if the commander order it, now lets see where your commander lies, I am sure he will be quiet furious after that failed attempt.”

And he was, Gar’Kut couldn’t believe it he had lost more the half of his troops under his command and his anger began to dictate his commands. He stood before what troops he had left and began to speak in their native tongue.

“We are here to destroy, not an army, not a people, but a symbol of hope that lies among them. He is One man, A single being, and we are the locust horde. If we kill him then have won, and we will.” He turn and looked across the streets of D’Lanor and said his last words. “FOR THE QUEEN!” as he pointed his finger to the river to signal the charge, his head exploded and his body fell silently among the rubble, and his horde began to advance. A lone boomer saw the building where the shot had come from and he took aim knowing that if he made this kill it would make him a hero for sure.

Charles was pleased, the snake had lost it’s head and now his mercenaries could clean up the rest of them with ease. He stood up and prepared to break radio silence and saw what was left of the Locust contingent charging towards his men.

“Get ready men, they are coming in hard! Johnson, You're in charge don’t let me down!" Then he heard it, a whistle of a projectile cutting through the air and coming towards him. "Oh sh*t, god damn boomer!

Charles had caught on too slowly and the boomshot projectile was already on the way to him. He ripped his rifle from the concrete and took aim. He made sure that this one boomer wouldn't hurt anyone else, he lined up and pull the trigger just as the boomer fired off a second volley.

The force of the shot blew the boomer back through a store window. It was wounded badly the bullet and multiple lacerations from the broken glass but still alive. It stood up and began to walk out the window as a subtile beep began to echo through it's body.

Charles smiled wickedly, as the faint sound of an explosion reached his ears. He had already begun to make his way out from the gapping hole in the office building but he hadn't made it far before the first boomshot projectile shook the weaken supports in the building. The second followed shortly there after and caused the few final supports to crack and break, leading to the implosion of the twenty story office building.

Johnson stood still on the street as he saw the first of the boomshots enter the office building and explode seconds later. He knew that Lone was in trouble but he couldn't do anything about it now, he had horde of angry locusts advancing quickly on his position and time was of the escence.

"Hold your fire! Let em get to the bridge first then we deal them their death! Disobey and you die with them!"

"But sir! Lone is in trouble, we can't just leave him to die!" shouted a young stranded teen that was known only as Jacen. "We have to save him!"

"Jacen! Lone can handle himself, he has faced death many times and he has come out fine. Besides we have bigger fish to fry if you haven't noticed!" as hammerburst began to battered their position and boomshoots whizzed over head. "Lone is on his own, we will try to help him after we're done here, May god be with him."

Charles was now running for his life, but being on the fifteenth story wasn’t helping much. He ran for the stairway only to find that it was blocked off by fallen debris. He realized that his only hope for survival was to make it to the elevator shaft and try repelling down it before the roof completely collapsed on top of him. But he never made it, a support beam had swung loose and blown him into a wall knocking him unconscious. As he lay there among the fallen debris, the darkness once again covered his eye his nightmare returned as the roof collapsed upon him.
Fresh off the keyboard I will re-edit in am! Black Asgard for the summary for mine, will come out of the next chapter. I got a nasty plot twist and more cliff hangers coming!

Really liked it. However the mercenaries seem almost too powerful. And the kryll scared of them. That is hard to believe. But otherwise I loved how the Locust seemed to get pissed off by a few soldiers. They remind me of the French resistance destroying some of the Nazi Army in France and keeping a large occupying force there.

The one thing that you need is a new name for the weapon. It sounds bad ass but it has way to many modifications to be considered a longshot anymore. Anyway keep up the good work. Cant wait for more action.

The kryll thing and Jessica with all be explain in the next few chapters. And for the modified longshot come up with names for it. Sorry I can't stop the cliff hangers my brain won't let me! But it keeps me wanting to write more at least. I would explain more but it will defeat the purpose and ruin my surprises.

    Exclamation Chapter 4

Tensions were high, and millions of lives were on the line, but all Hoffman could do was stare down the barrel of lancer and wait for this boys questions to be answered.

“Well, is anyone going to start answering questions, or are you going to let this little sh*t kill me in cold blood?” there was a hint of urgency in the colonel’s voice “Or, we can sit here with our thumbs up our *sses and wait for them Locust to come in and finish us off.”

Jessica saw the fear in his eyes, something that had not been there since she had originally told Hoffman of the creatures existence. She knew it was in the best interests of everyone if Hoffman left the bunker alive.

“Charles, calm down!” she readied herself, “We don’t have that much time, and we have a lot to cover. Where do I start?” she began to think of the best route to explain the recent events. Then Hoffman smarted off,

“How about where it all began! That might help everyone’s tensions cool and get this god d*mn Lancer out of my f*cking fac...,” this had only gained him a swift kick in the ribs by Charles who wasn’t in the mood for anymore of Hoffman smart *ss comments. Hoffman cringed with sudden burst of pain, he was going to make this punk pay, some day some how he was going to make him and pay dearly. He looked up at Charles, only to see that mood his had worsened.

“You want some more smart *ss?! Next time, I will hit you where the sun don’t shine. And on the time after that you won’t be walking away from this bunker!” his anger kept him on edge but he didn’t know how long he could keep this charade up. It made him sick, “This isn’t me, I am just an engineer. I don’t have any idea what I am doing here!” his mind began to panic, and his body began to sweat blood because of the stress he was under. “God, I have to get a hold of myself, I can’t let my guard down, otherwise I won’t make it to tomorrow.”

Jessica could see fire in Charles’ brown eyes growing more intense by the minute, and the blood dripping through his black hair, she admired his courage but she knew well of Hoffman’s fury. She worried that Charles’ body was going to collapse any minute and figured now was her only chance to explain this predicament before it happened.

“Charles,” she said in a soft sweet tone, “sit down and listen. First of all, we all knew this day was going to happen but we never expected it to be this soon.” She breathed heavily trying to explain what had been done but not before Charles interrupted.

“You mean you knew and you did nothing to stop or even warn anyone about it?! I can’t believe it.” His trust in Jessica was no gone, she could have done something but choose not to.

“Charles, believe it!” Hoffman interrupted again, but he figured he could tell this story better and faster than Jessica. “Major Anderson, let me tell this part otherwise your boy toy over there might turn that gun on you and we wouldn’t want that, would we.?”

“No, Colonel please go ahead.” Jessica said with a blatant look of sarcasm.

“Thank god, as Anderson was saying we knew today was coming, but we weren’t a hundred percent sure when. And before you start asking damn questions let me finish.” He paused to make a dramatic effect and so he could start from the beginning. “Twenty years ago, we caught our first glimpse of a Locust or at least a dead one. A small group of miners working on the underground drilling rigs found it lying amongst the rubble of a cave-in.” he paused again, reached for glass of coffee and continued, “They brought the remains to the surface and immediately notified us, I ordered the body to be dissected and studied. But I will save you from all the boring anatomical differences between our two species, anyways the C.O.G. Central Command decided to send soldiers down to explore the imulsion catacombs about seven years later and see if we could find anymore evidence of this species.”

“And we did!” piped up the corporal from earlier, Hoffman shot him a quick glance as the bunker began to shake and rattle with a massive explosion from the outside.

“Corporal! If you mouth off again I am going to find my foot a new home, in your *ss” then corporal sat back down and never spoke again, as Hoffman continued, “Yes, we did find more in fact more then we ever expected to. They seemed peaceful and docile at first until… we… um…um…?”

“Until Hoffman ordered the soldiers to kidnap a “living” specimen,” Jessica stated smugly, “Tell him what happened after that Colonel.”

Hoffman hesitated, he didn’t want to tell Charles but he knew his life depended upon it. “We took the creature to the surface, and began running tests on it. But, I never ordered for its capture, it came from C.O.G.C.C, but that isn’t important right now. The damn scientists were simply amazed at its intelligence and ability to adapt to certain situations. The beast even learned our language in the three short weeks it was above ground being studied.” Hoffman looked away, “We sent it back with another group of soldiers, they followed it into the heart of the Sera. We never saw it coming, that little b*st*rd.”

“That little b*st*rd, had name. Here Charles watch the mission footage, it will explain a lot more then we ever could.” Jessica walked over to the video screen and put in a disc with the words *TOP SECRET* across it. Hoffman was about to object but his figured this would explain more than he wanted to.

The video began playing; It was filmed deep in the heart of Sera, Charles could see the beauty of the flowing imulsion over the limestone stalagmites and stalactites even though the quality of the recording was far below par. There were six soldiers in all and what looked like teenage locust leading the way to what looked like a underground citadel.

“Dude, Alex, look at all this Imulsion! We should sink a well down here and retire.” A soldier stated, while looking at imulsion lake for the best spot to begin drilling after their mission was complete.

“Steven, you’re a dumb*ss, we got better things to do, than to sit around building a f*cking well.” Looking coldly at his overexcited counterpart. “Beside this place gives me the creeps, and why f*ck are we following this little b*st*rd anyways, I mean we could have just drop it off and left.”

“Private Scott, we are here to make sure that are actions haven’t caused an incident, beside Colonel Hoffman, wants us to get as much reconnaissance, before returning to the surface.”

“But, Captain, why would we ever come back down here? It just doesn’t make sense and it is not like they are ever going to come up after us?”

The locust smiled wickedly, Charles could see by the look on it’s face that the soldiers were about to be imminent danger and they had no clue. Their banter grew silent as they approached the citadel gate. There were massive statues of dinosaurs all along the outer walls, and sentries at every vantage point along it. The gates were coated with a mixture of what looked like steel and imulsion, with iron cross symbols in the middle each massive door. The gates began to open and a fifteen foot locust covered in black armor emerged from the shadows of the walls.

The young locust stepped forward and introduced the soldiers to him.

“Thiz bez Kor’mal, Grand General and zecond toz our Queen.” In his gruff scratchy voice, then he began to speak to Kor’mal in his native tongue. After a few moments Kor’mal stepped forward and let out a gut wrenching scream. Then everything seemed to change it a matter of seconds from bad to worse. The statues, or so they thought, began surrounded them and massive hordes of locust began to spring out of every direction. The C.O.G. soldiers panic and began to open fire, but they were quickly disarmed and bound. Then the young locust stepped forward and began to speak to the camera.

“Ztupid humanz! Youz will all pay for what youz havez donez toz mez! Thesez men will diez and your surfacez will bez next!” He walked over to Kor’mal and received a jagged sword made of steel and imulsion and then return to the prisoners. “Humanz remember myz namez for Iz will bez thez onez to destroyz you civilization. Iz am Raam!” He ran forward and slaughtered every prisoner with the speed of lightning, then he fed their bodies to the dinosaurs like creatures. The last words heard before the transmission ended were from Raam.

“I’m Raam, and myz hordez are coming!”

Here chapter 4, Sorry guys about another cliff hanger, I will start on chapter 5, I hope this getting more exciting and not redunt and stupid.

    Unhappy

Go back to chapter 2 it is right here

Charles interrupted, “Will someone please explain what the hell is going on, and what the f*ck this project that you keep speaking of is?” he spied a lancer sitting against the wall and once again he let his emotions get the best of him and he rushed it before anyone realized what was happening, he revved the chainsaw bayonet and aimed at Hoffman’s head. “Some one better start talking before I make Swiss cheese out of the Colonel’s ugly face.”
I back tracked, sorry if the transition was a little rough.

It was supposed to be observing, I didn't to drop into all the details of where they actually setup the party, I went straight towards the end and started from there. I mention something about the work in the sentence above. I just think it is worded weird but it grammatically correct.

Decorations, balloons, food galore, friends, and family from all across the nation. Charles’ parents stood on the 2nd story balcony observing what all their hard work had accomplished.

    Exclamation Chapter 5

The room fell silent with the echo of Raam’s last words resounding off the walls. Charles’ eyes began to well with raw unabated emotion, his spirit had been broken and body collapsed with it. The lancer he had held so fervently earlier now fell carelessly to the wayside of his body, he now knelt there in total surrender of the situation staring, just staring at a blank screen. An orgy of thoughts began to course through his mind and then out his mouth.

“How could you,” his head shook with shame, “You sent them to die, and what’s worse is that you knew what lied beneath our feet and never warned the masses of the imminent danger or even tried to stop it.” His words echoed in the hearts of everyone in the room, and stirred their repressed emotions, “Now, we are all suffering for your mistake. I lost my family, home, and friends because of your arrogance and you all sat here worrying about one person, yourselves.” Once again his words hit home, but harder then before. Charles didn’t know where these words were coming from nor could he stop them from flowing forth. “I am a pilgrim in an unholy land and I will not allow this atrocity to happen again. I have one goal in life now and before I die, I will achieve it.” He stood up and looked in Hoffman’s direction, “To bring down your government and you with it.”

Hoffman’s face showed his fear, this young man had changed. Like a phoenix rising from it’s ashes, the fire that had burned in his eyes now spread to a luminescent glow around his body. Charles’ spirit had been rejuvenated and now he stood strong in the face of his adversary. His face was emotionless as if frozen by time, but his eyes, never had Hoffman seen such eyes

“Charles?!” Jessica’s concern came without fear of repercussions as she stepped in between Hoffman and him, “Think about you are saying! And we did try to stop them, that is what this project was created for!” her emotions were getting the best of her but she didn’t care this explanation was needed. “My dad was one of those soldiers, and I was sitting where you are now when I saw him slaughtered. I swore that day I would prevent everyone else from suffering his fate and ...”

“And you failed,” Charles said coldly, then looked at her in a way he never had before, with hatred, “What exactly was you plan to stop them? Sacrifice the masses so that C.O.G. could survive or was there an actual plan to prevent the Locust from emerging?”

She slapped him, with all her rage and sadness driving her hand, as tears poured from her eyes. “I can’t believe you! What has happened to you? Where is your compassion?”

“My compassion died with my family,” He had harden his heart to the problems of others, “I am sorry about your loss, but I am not just going to sit here and wait for those creatures to come down here and kill us. I want answers and Colonel Smart*ss over there has them.” Charles quickly rearmed himself and aimed at Hoffman once again, “You better start talking before I start shooting.

Hoffman had missed his chance and now his life was in Charles’ vengeful hands, “And what the f*ck do you want to know? Why we kidnapped Raam , what the point of the this base is, or hell, why we didn’t the warn your dumb*ss family? Go ahead and pick one, it’s not like going to tell you anyways.” Hoffman was now far past worrying about his life, “if you don’t kill me it will be the locust that are coming this way, I really don’t give a sh*t what you want cause isn’t what’s really important right now, so you can just f*ck off.”

Charles was poised to kill him, but his window of opportunity closed faster than he had expected. A loud explosion, rocked the bunker and sirens began to echo down the corridors with a voice over the loudspeakers.

“Our defense have been penetrated arm yourselves and start emergency evacuation procedures! King Ravens are en route, they will be here shortly, Once again. Our defense have been penetrated arm yourselves and start emergency evacuation procedures! King Ravens are en route, they will be here shortly, may God be with you!”

Everyone in the bunker began to move, arming themselves, collecting all the important intel, and making their way to out of the bunker. The Enforcers that Charles and Jessica had passed earlier could be seen running towards them at full speed with what looked like small ape like creatures on their heels. Charles saw that they would never make it and went to assist as an order came from behind him.

“Leave them they’ll be fine, get the those videos and Major Anderson grab the resonator! We are leaving NOW!” It was Hoffman, cutting his losses to save his own *ss.

Charles sprinted into the corridor to help them, and yelled at the officers and other enforcers, “You can’t just leave them to die! Come on, help me!”

Hoffman made sure that Jessica was gone and turned towards him and retorted, “If you want to be a f*cking hero than be my guest, I don’t really give a sh*t about whether you walk away from this or not. You aren’t one my soldiers so I won’t have to worry about any repercussions from Central Command, and you know to much for your own good! Have fun in hell Jack*ss!” He turned and began to sprint towards the exit at the back of the bunker.

Charles was determined to save these to men even if it cost him his life, at least he would do something worth remembering today. He turned and began to open fire, and most his shots we hitting their targets and few began to spray the enforcers coming towards them.

“Hey man we appreciate the help but lets try hitting these little wretchs and not us!”

“Sorry! First time actually shooting one of these things,” he looked and saw larger locust coming in now, “You guys might want to kick it into high gear, cause we got more company on the way!

A voice echoed from the bunker door, “Johnson! Jones! You got drones and grenadiers inbound! Charles! Get back here too!” the voice was that of the upstart corporal from earlier.

“Alexander, you finally grew a pair! Now you won’t have to suck on mine!” A giant smile grew across Johnson’s face, “Holy sh*t! Did you actually disobey an order?! At least you won’t be taking it like a b*tch from behind from dirty ole Hoffman anymore.”

Charles felt he needed to interrupt, “Guys, I know you are both really turned on, on how Corporal Alexander just became a man, but I think we got bigger problems! Look!”

Johnson and Jones quickly turned only to see the steel door at the end of the hallway being ripped from it’s hinges by a Locust clad in midnight black armor with a gruesome looking characteristics and an even more gruesome looking sword with jagged razor edges and glowing luminescence. Charles and the Enforcers sprinted to the main bunker, Johnson cursing all the way.

“Ah sh*t, we done and gone pissed em off now! That’s f*cking Locust General on our *ss!” instead of panicking, he swelled up with pride as he reached the door. He decide to add some fuel to this wild fire from hell. “Hey you ugly n*ggers,” waving his arms and performing crude jesters, “You guys want a piece of me?! Come and try to get my black *ss, I will make everyone of you deep throat my…”

Charles grabbed him and pulled him into the bunker, “I think you made your point, I don’t think they need anymore enticement to come and kill the four of us now.” He looked around trying to find stuff to barricade the door or give them some decent cover from the on coming horde. Then he heard the distant sound of helicopter blades cutting the air,

“Maybe, we can make it to the Raven’s before they evacuate everyone?"

“I would love to but we can’t,” Corporal Alexander looked at Charles grimly, “Hoffman ordered Jack to seal the door,” then he looked towards the sealed door “after, umm”

Jones looked skeptically at his friend, “After what? What the f*ck did you say to him?! Come on start talking, I want to know the reason why we’re stuck down here in the sh*t hole.”

“Well, I kinda told Hoffman to f*ck off and that I was done listening to his bullsh*t, and that I would rather die fighting with you guys than escaping to safety with him.” The last part was a lie but he figured he could get away with it at this point.

His buddies began to laugh hysterically while setting up barricades and collecting weapons for the oncoming siege. Johnson, knew Alexander’s character better than that and was about to reveal the most probable truth about what had happened.

“You are lying, there is no way your b*tch *ss said all that to Ole Hoffman,” he saw the look on Alexander’s face and knew he was right, “It probably went something more like this,” Johnson changed his voice to mimic the corporal’s, “Sir, went can’t leave em! Colonial, I am going to help if you aren’t! How does that sounds?!” Then his voice return to normal, “Then Hoffman said fine by him and kicked your *ss back in here and then order his Jack Of All Trades to seal it up. Now, how close am I?”

Alexander’s face lost every ounce of expression and pride, “F*ck me, I will never understand how you were able to even remotely guess that.”

Johnson pointed towards the sealed door, “It wasn’t that hard! You know what I’m gonna tell you I figured it out!” he paused then continued, “I just looked at the evidence that is all over the f*cking place,” he walked over to the door and pointed “See first off, there is a sh*t load paint transfer over here on the floor from someone’s armor and you got some big *ss scratches on yours, and secondly looked at all these dents! Looks like Hoffman threw your *ss to the wolves, and you tried to break the door down with very little success,”

Everyone began laughing even Charles, he didn’t understand how they could laugh with death on winds and the horde of angry locust pounding on the poorly assmebled barricaded door, then Johnson continued “Well I guess you didn’t grow a pair, but at least your not Hoffman’s b*tch anymore,” then the smile on his face widen, “Your mine!”

Charles was on his knee again, not from a broke spirit but because he couldn’t stop laughing as Johnson b*tch slapped Alexander every time he began to talk back. These men had lifted his spirits to a point where they hadn’t been since his party. But their good times quickly ended as a sword began pierced straight through steel door and destroying the barricade behind it. Jones started shouting out orders,

“F*ck, he is cutting right through like it’s paper, I got to get me one of those,” the realization of that their only major defense being shredded away began to hit home, “Guys, get ready! Hold your fire until they start flooding in.”

Charles was scared and began to shake violently, as he grabbed the closest weapon to him, a longshot, and took aim. Their lives would either endure or expire today, and as the sword stopped swinging the door exploded inwards and the fight for their live had began.
First Part! I will finish this and have 6 out tomorrow

    Exclamation Chapter 6

The enraged troops of former commander Gar’Kut began to make a mad rush towards the troops lying across the river. They had no plan, no strategy, the only thing that drove them was their rage and a chance to kill. This was the way of the locust once their commanders had fallen, a kamikaze run of death and glory. Johnson had experience it first hand, over a dozen times in the past three years with Charles, but he had never expected to survive for this long. It was mostly because of Charles’ leadership skills that this rag tag group had survived, and now the heat was on to save him.

“Men!” he stood amongst them and heavy barrage of enemy cover fire, “I know times are desperate and Lone is grave danger, but we must eliminate this threat before we take action.” A boomshot blasted a six foot hole in their defenses, “Cover that hole! God damn it, once they are all on this bridge release the propellant and then wait for my signal,” the first group of locust troops began to bound over the defenses, “F*ck, Alexander open fire on them, and on any of those other b*st*rds that make it over the perimeter, everyone else you know what to do, so do it!”

The mercenaries waited, the bloodthirsty locust began to flood onto the bridge without any concern about their own safety. Johnson was becoming impatient, he hated waiting, but he knew that this was the fastest way to save Charles. When the final stragglers began to rejoin their companions, Johnson stood out in the open and let out a shout out that rang across ruins of D’lanor and would not be shortly forgotten by his men or the Locust.

“Fire! For your families, your friends, your homes, and we fight for the fallen and the living,” hammerburst fire began to rain around his body, he was beginning to take damage but he needed to finish, “We do not fear death, we are the bringers of it and let this shout be heard by all, WE ARE THE SONS OF SERA!” Shouts rose from bridge, the buildings, and from the water and then began to grow louder, “We fear none and are fear by all, may what ever GOD you serve have mercy on your souls!” He pointed toward the horde and yelled his last order, “FOR SERA! CHARGE!” just as he finish the bridge exploded into a gigantic fireball and the men began to charge towards the locust.

Fear had over taken the horde, they were frozen by ominous chant and cheering, and when the S.O.S began to charge, they began to run but the wall of flames prevented any route of escape, all they could do was fight. The boomers seeing that Johnson was still standing on top of the defenses, took their opportunity and opened fire. The boomer shots rang across the sky but most missed their target and fell harmlessly into destroyed cars or into the river. Three of them managed to hit each other and exploded right in front of Johnson. The force of the shock wave knock him off the barricade and into a park car below, Alexander and Jones ran to assist him.

“F*ck! That f*cken hurt,” Johnson grabbed his ribs and groaned in pain, “Where are those *ssholes?! I got a present for em!” he reached down and picked up his Torque Bow.

Jones and Alexander began laughing, “Hahaha, Johnson you aren’t going anywhere, if you haven’t noticed you just got blown back twenty feet into a parked car.” They began to help him up, “Very stirring speech though, Charles would be proud. It’s a real shame that you ended up exactly like how he does after it.” They all began to laugh hysterically at the situation.

“We better start moving otherwise there won’t be much left for us.” Johnson and Alexander agreed and then the trio charged head long into the melee. The S.O.S.’s charges had been legendary, they rarely lost men and the aftermath they caused, scared even the greatest generals of both C.O.G. and Locust armies. The band of mercenaries had chainsaws revved, guns a blazing, and explosives hailing from the sky, they truly had become the bringers of death. The Locust contingent fought valiantly but they were quickly eliminated by the sheer ferocity of this small group of humans, their blood began to run off bridge and seeped into the river below. Johnson, Jones, and Alexander now stood amongst the aftermath and began ordering ammo collection and to start burning the Locust corpses.

Jacen walked towards the trio, “Sirs? Are we going to help Lone?”

Johnson saw the honest concern in the boy’s face, “I already got people working on it,” he knelt down and touched the boy’s shoulder, “But, as soon as we have this bridge cleared, we'll go searching for em, but is you haven’t noticed he got pretty lucky, look,” he turned Jacen to building where Lone began the battle and pointed. The roof and four upper stories of the office hadn’t collapsed downward but backward. “See, Lone was on the fifteenth story, and it lost the roof and maybe five stories, he is still up there but since we haven’t heard from him, something must have happened.”

Jacen let out a great sigh of relief, and then went on his way. Jones and Alexander looked at Johnson and both said in unison, “Aww, Johnson does have a heart.”

Johnson got off his knees and gave Alexander a quick shot in the stomach, “I got fists too, dumb*ss,” he watched Jacen as he began collecting ammo, “besides Charles would want it that way, f*ck I got something in my eye,” All three friends began to feel tears welling and decided that it would be a good time to start looking for Charles.

“I understand now, why Charles wanted to bring Jacen along,” Jones said as they made their way through the ruined streets of D’Lanor, “He wanted him to see that nothing in this world is hopeless and that even though things may seem that way, we can always change them.”

“I think, there was something else to it,” added Alexander, “Remember, Charles was an orphan too, and I think he wanted Jacen to have what he did before Emergence Day. He is like a father figure to that kid, and how many times did you see Charles run into unthinkable numbers of Locust, just to save him?!”

“To many, f*cking compassion for the weak is his greatest weakness,” Johnson began shaking his head, “I don’t understand what drives him, but man I have never met a man that would sacrifice his life for anyone else, do think it Jessica had something to do with it?”

“Hey Johnson, you know not to get bring that up,” a stern look came from Jones, “Come on we need to find him before it gets dark, I don’t think his Sonic Nullifier is going to be working.”

The trio sprinted towards the office and building and kicked in the doors into the lobby. They saw that everything was as it was last night when they setup the defenses, old couches, broke lamps, demolished carpets and dysfunctional elevators. They headed for the stairwell, it looked less welcoming now in the daylight then it had the night before, the spiraling staircase had lost many of it’s stairs, but it was still functional for their purposes.

Voices could be heard from the about six stories up, Jones reached for his radio, “Hey, this is Jones, you guys founds him yet?”

“This Steven Richards, Sir, we haven’t found him yet. The first six floors have been completely swept and cleared, we had a couple of pockets of insurgency, but they have been taken care of, do you have any orders?”

“No Richards, just keep running a floor by floor sweep. Johnson, Alexander, and I are heading for the top floor, make sure we have medics on standby. Johnson out.” He looked at his friends, “We better stay on our toes,”

They made their way to the fifteenth for and saw a larger pile of debris blocking the door, Alexander began to study it and proposed his idea,

“I could just blow it, I mean that or we cut our way through?”

“But, what if he is on the other side and when we blow it takes him out too?”

Jones stood listening to them bicker about which plan was the best. He studied the doorway and checked for any signs of lead. He looked at Alexander, “You still got your infra red goggles?”

“Yea, why?” looking at Jones perplexed.

“Give em here and I will show you!” reluctantly he handed them to him, Jones put them and turned them on, and what he saw scared him, “Oh my God, not again!”

Alexander completely understood and set the charge, then blew the doorway clear. They sprinted part down the hall and then froze, watching as Charles was moving around as if he was fighting some deadly foe. Johnson was the first to speak,

“I wonder where he is at this time? Who has the syringe? We got to stop him before he f*cks himself or one of us up. I got the brunt of it last time, it’s Alexander turn!”

“Dude, I almost died last time I went in there, you came out with a couple of bruise and small gash above your eye.”

Jones intervened before they missed their chance, “Johnson give me your Torque Bow, hurry the f*ck up, we don’t have much time!” he hand it over to Jones and he loaded the syringe into the launched tube, Jones began to crank it and then let it loose. It hit Charles, right in the neck, and the medication began to slowly drain into his body. Charles’ higher brain functions took over and went on the defensive. He took the Fate Bringer off his back and quickly turned and opened fire in the direction of his friends. The shot rang through the building and over the radio voice could be heard.

“We found him, but he shot Jones!”

“F*ck, I think he dislocated my shoulder, he's down though, Johnson! Grab Lone and lets get the f*ck out of here. Alexander quit laughing, before I throw you out the window with my good arm! You rat b*st*rd! Come here, oh sh*t. Everyone evac now! Brumaks en route, they’re maybe two miles back! Man we’ve got the sh*tiest luck!”

“Jones I hate to make this bad situation worse,” Alexander interrupted “But, we got a squadron of King Ravens coming this way, and Hoffman is leading it.”
Unedited and fresh from me, start leaving me feed back if you guys want more or not! Cause if you don't then I am slowing down my progress.
