    Default Berserker Eyes?

OK, if all berserkers are blind then why do they have eyes?

I read somewhere that they are the female forms of the drones so perhaps just some crossover of genetics from the male form input that the females have no capability with. X chromosome allows such in such in them, Y chromosome unlocks such and such, genetics just left them with some slack material that is unneeded (like men having nipples). But really its kind of weird to see this "blind" creature have an almost human face with eyes in place yet being told that every berserker can't see.

It's a step in their evolution. Their eyes are a waste of bodily energy, and natural selection favors those individuals who don't use their eyesight where it is not necessary, and spend that energy maintaining other functions.

The fact that they have eyes is because they originally could probably see. Most animals that spend their lives underground do have eyes, but they are blind, or their eyes are under their skin, as in moles. Eventually, natural selection will favor those individuals that don't waste energy even making eyes.

    Default Night Vision

Their vision may just be nocturnal. In the tomb there is a little light and the beserker seems to be able to chase better there than in the conservatory which is well lit. This could just be my imagination.
    Any questions?

I dont know I think they are like bats, bats can kind of see but use their ears as sonar dishes basically to map out the area around them and find food, so maybe thats what berserkers are based upon?

Things that are blind still have eyes, only in animals, their eyes are very small. In one of the pages I read, I can't remember which, but it said that they have a great sense of smell and hearing (Heck, even Baird says it in game!) So she doesn't really need to be able to see.

If you look closely, they've got eyes.

They've got rudimentary eyes but these dead white orbs have no pupils, no retinae, nothing at all. This implies that they must be entirely inert.

It probably develops cateracts, or something similar, as it ages.

The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay If they'd put fifteen more miles behind 'er.
They might have split up or they might have capsized; They may have broke deep and took water.

    Default Beserker eyes...

Perhaps when they get too old to breed ( have little kiddy bloodsuckers ahhhh how cute they are) the locust inject steroids into them making them bigger better fighting machines and as a result their skin grows over their optic nerves making them blind like a tumour does. Beacause they cannot breed their only other use is to fight. If the queen is a woman and she is quite smart perhaps she has not taken the steroids and that is why she is so smart.

    Default Out There

Thats a pretty good explanation but I'm afraid I can't picture a drone in a white coat with a syringe injecting a mini beserker.

It probably wouldn't be a drone. Would you want a redshirt or something to preform some major surgery if they're just there to die?

The theroy makes sense... it's too bad we'll probably never find out the correct answer though.

how bout berserkers as they get older start to build their own steroids? in certain types of animals they make their own steroids to become stronger and more violent

actually i cannot see a doctor drone injecting steroids. But I do watch the discovery channel a lot. And there are a lot, and i mean a lot, of species where the female is the stronger, faster and dominant of the 2 genders. Sharks, female kills male most likely after mating, black widow spider eats the male after mating and is bigger than the male, englar fish (the scary one in finding nemo) is actually a female fish, the male is just a small parasite that sticks to her and mergers to her body (like a parasite). lions, the female is actually the one that hunts for food and is well suited for stalking unlike the male b/ of the mane and he is more of a scanvanger.
Basically waht im saying is, maybe the berserker is just the stronger of the 2 genders in the Locust species.
And yes im a guy and Im not fighting for women. Its just facts im showing you.
