it's not that easy, i suppose.
being good using 3d programs is a fairly good start for you since you may find a place in a team of developers easily, but it's not only creating 3d models. you need code, you need to animate all the 3d models (and last but not least assemble the whole project), you probably need a website (including space, traffic any maybe a fileserver to mirror your mods) and you need an idea how to populate your creation.
all this together is too much for one person; don't rush it, better get a place in a nice dev team (there are always some that need you in case you are good); there you'll learn to develop your skills, to work in a team and maybe you'll learn something about the other's work, such as coding. but don't expect that you'll one day be able to create a whole (good) mod alone - even if you had the skills you'd fail because you lack the time.
Waves of the same length can also interfere destructively.

Remember "Face Off" ?? Made the second place in phase one of the last MSUC.

It really is mind-boggling considering the number of team members most mods have. The first release featured a few professional quality maps for the two gametypes, which are Objective and Team Deathmatch. The mod is pretty much a rehash of the terrorists v. special ops formula, but its presentation is stunning and makes the game interesting ande fun to play. Sadly, Hegi has had some personal issues that have prevented him from continuing development. Development has been indefinately postponed.
It even had graphical features the UT2003 retail version didn't have then: water splashes for example.
