i am using "ASMD" instead of "shock rifle" myself, but what does that stand for? i've been googling for it, wikipedia (even the dutch version!) didn't say anything about it.
in short: what does "ASMD" abbreviate?

And Suck My D*ck
Seriously, it's a reference to some film iirc, where some guy blows up a barrel of petrol in mid air with a gun (shock combo-esque)
http://forums.beyondunreal.com/archi.../t-109431.html"It stands for 'And Suck My D*ck'," explains 23-year-old Cliff Bleszinski, the game's co-designer. "It has a special move that just annihilates all the ****ers around it."

Yes, ASMD stands for "And Suck My D**k".
As for the 8-ball. I always assumed it was because the rockets/nades were approximately the size of an 8-ball in pool (billards).
Yeah, ASMD means "And Suck My D*ck" and GES stands for "Green Exploding Sh*t".
Btw, the Redeemer was named after some church I think.![]()
ASMD = Available Soil Moisture Depletion Regime or Application-Specific Micro Device

"and sick my d*ck" also explains why it seems to be 8 feet tall.
This thread should die now. The question was answered in the first reply.
The film is "Hard Target" starring Jean Claude Van Damme I think.Originally Posted by The_Deacon

This definition fits a lot better for ONS in UT2k4ASMD Antiship Missile Defense.
Now I want a movie based off of Unreal so I can hear the actor say 'WTF is that green exploding sh!t?" and after killing an alien with the ASMD, saying” and suck my d!ck you MF". Besides all the other franchises have movies after them, it's time for Unreal to make the scene.

If you'd seen Doom, you might want to approach an Unreal movie a bit more carefully!Originally Posted by NeoPhoenixIIM

No offense against Unreal itself, but they'll try to put the game litteraly on the screen instead of making a proper movie with characters and a real plot.
Since Im not interested in watching a non-interactive videogame for one and a half hours, (I'd rather just play a game) I don't think they should make an Unreal movie if is a just an excuse to port the game onto the silverscreen. That FPS sequence in DOOM is just cringe-worthy.
If they did an Unreal movie, they would probably think having Aliens was too implausible and replace them with genetic experiments in anyway!![]()
The story of crashed survivors on an Alien planet should be the primary focus of an Unreal movie, not just an excuse to have pointless FPS scenes of humans shooting monsters.
I like Atomic Shock Mechanism Device![]()
i wanted to find out the real name for that gun too and i found something different to "and suck my xxxx" .
i cant remember what it was called now but it wasnt a joke name and i got the answer through official sources like in game sound files or something.. damn my weak memory
This almost sounds realistic, except "mechanism device" is a pretty severe redundancy.Originally Posted by Shadow]I[

Wouldn't the atoms be at least somewhat shocked if you put an electric current on them?

Doom the movie wasn't too bad. Though, the game cut scene did kind of ruin it. They seem to be getting better with making movies off of games though, so a movie based off of Unreal could be quite good, esp if they stuck close to the original plot of the game.Originally Posted by Gregori

Wasn't it just "ASMD" in Unreal, then "ASMD Shockrifle" in UT, and then just "Shockrifle" in UT2003 and 2004 ?

I don't want to be put through the torture of watching a non-interactive videogame instead of a film. Maybe if Halo turns out be good, this will set a new trend in VG movies!
It'll always be the ASMD whether it says so or not, ASMD is the name of the technology that makes it work, hence the Izarian Shocklance in Unreal 2 is based on ASMD technology.Originally Posted by wickedsteve
