Will I be able to run UT2k7 or will I have to make some upgrades?
Of course I won't get highest settings but will it at least run with some graphic setting?

(I realize that 512mb of ram is low, and I will be upgrading to either 1gb or 1.5gb as soon as I get my paycheck, so if that's the only think I'd really have to upgrade don't bother telling me since I know )

I should probably add that with my specs above, I am able to play UT2k4 witht he settings on High or above.

I'm hoping it will at least launch. In my case, I intend to upgrade from my ATi Radeon X850XT PE to something more current and go up to 2GB of ram... but here are my current specs. I know there is no official info, but I'm hopeful I can at least get to the logo. LOL

So hopefully, I'll be able to play the game without having to buy a new PC, but we'll see. Being that it's not coming out until next year, I am sure there will be more fine tuning of the code. I can play UT2K4 just fine unless there is perhaps a slow server involved, or it's a full 32 player server. We'll see once Epic is closer to release.

I think you're up pooper creek without a paddle. Here's why.



Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1500+ - This is very slow... even slow to Ut2004 standards. You might be able to use the editor, though it will be very VERY slow if so.
Memory: 512MB RAM - This will result in painful loading times. While we're all streaming the levels, you'll be buffering.
Hard Drive: 80 GB - This game can't be that big. I'd say 6-7 gigs would sound right, so having a drive this big should be fine.
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 - This would be capable of rendering the game at nearly 1 frame per second, if even. The 5700 isn't all that fast, really... wasn't it the first gen of the FX series? I know the 5200, 5400, 5600 and 5700 came out together, and everything 4XXX was GeForce4.
Monitor: Plug and Play Monitor - hoorah. Mine's PnP also.
Sound Card: NVIDIA(R) nForce(TM) Audio - this'll hurt, but not much. I found that the more processing power devoted to the motherboard, the slower the game'll run. I know this because when I got an Audigy LS and stopped using onboard audio, I saw a 20 % performance increase, no matter the audio mode.
Operating System: Windows 2000 Professional (5.0, Build 2195) Service Pack 4 - This stings. Nobody but lab techs and people with ancient machine's should be using Win2k. This O.S. was very game unfriendly because it wasn't built for gaming.

Basically - even after getting a new video card, doubling the memory and installing WindowsXP, you'd still be left behind by your processor and thus wouldn't be able to play. So, I'd save your pennies and grab a new PC when given the opportunity. Or, ask for one for Christmas, since we've already heard Mark Rein say no demo beforehand.

My PC should tear ass in this game, on medium-high settings.

AthlonXP 64-bit 3700+ (I didn't want to pay another $150 for a dualcore 3800)
2GB DDR (somewhat slow, so my loadtimes will be somewhat longer than everyone elses)
GeForceFX 7900GTX (with 512mb DDR3) - This is the pure power, and probably the reason why the game will run well on my machine

HP keyboard bearing the old logo (thus being from, at latest, 1999) - I love antique keyboards, and this is kind of borderline antique.

There no way in hell you'll run UT2007 on that set up. Your processor is terrible, your ram is a joke and you graphics card is the equivalent on a Geforce 2. I wish people would stop buying these ****ty FX cards. They're not gaming cards and were only put on the market to fool people into thinking they were getting something powerful super cheap.

Hehe. Building a new system in Nov. Got most of the cash together already. Looking at dual core E6700, nvidia 7950 gtx with 2G of Corsair ram. Have not decided on mobo yet, waiting for nvidia 590SLi intel mobo's to come out. I think this should kick ass.

Though, I mostly agree with what you (and Mark) said, this is totally off. Win2k runs any game exactly like XP does. In fact if you switch XP to classic mode you can hardly tell the difference. Windows 2000 loads the OS a lot slower is about the only major difference unless you look at things like Media player 10+ being made only to install on XP. Game performance wise there's no real difference between XP and 2000.

To the original poster: The processor is gonna really hold you back. I have a machine similar to it (1.3ghz athalon) and it barely ran UT2004 with a G4 4400. You can get an Athalon 64 3400+ (with a free motherboard), a heatsink (it's an OEM processor) and a gig of PC3200 DDR from newegg right now for $200ish. I would start with that if you're on a tight budget. I just built two machines based off that deal using the NF3 biostar board. They are pretty solid and much faster than what you have now. Word of warning, they don't like anything less than an ATA-100 hard drive.
