Just wondering. It seems to be the video card specs on the computer I plan to get in the next year or so (well keep in mind this could be updated in the future).

No one knows what kind of computer will be able to run UT2007. No one.
We do have some general ideas, but these are by no means official or even accurate.
* 512 MB RAM is not enough. 1024 MB will likely be an okay minimum, while 2048 MB would be great. If you're building a computer right now, shoot for 2048.
* Your last-gen 3.0 GHz Pentium 4 is not enough. Such a CPU can drag down your FPS on crowded UT2004 maps, so you shouldn't expect UT2007 to do very well with it.
* Your 6600GT is not enough. While you may be able to get by with it or something similar, it is likely you'll need more power to get through higher detail settings at a playable framerate.
* Dual-core CPUs are going to be fully supported in Unreal Engine 3 (purportedly), so all of you with higher-end AMD64 dual-cores should be fine.
* If your computer is two years old or older, do not expect it to run UT2007 well, or even at all. If you computer struggles with UT2004, there is no real reason to expect it to even launch UT2007.
* UT games have had a history of scalability, allowing them to be run on all kinds of systems when configured properly. It is likely UT2007 will be like this as well, so don't fret about being required to spend $2000 on a top-end computer just yet.

Wasnt there a demonstration recently that ran the game on a p4?
Yea and they also ran it off a 6800 i believe
I have a 6800GT which should be able to play it on low-medium. Gonna upgrade that to a DX10 card once DX10 and Vista is released.
if thats even close, i should be able to run ut2k7 fine on medium/highOriginally Posted by InTheJungle
but with the scalability they may be able to run on slower rigs.
they may even include an option to turn the 2k7 detail into that shown by 2k4, we just dont know.
isnt it better not to speculate and just wait?
why oh why cant i put an image in here!!!!!!!

Well the demo should prove how much we might be able to run the game - so not as much waiting as should be.Originally Posted by GuntiNDDS
No they didn't. They ran a very early UE3 demo off of a 6800 towards its initial release period that showed new engine features and some Gears of War characters.Originally Posted by Checkmate-

I do hope a 6600GT will be able to run it on low with decent (30+) fps. I have a 6700XL (custom oc'ed 6600GT). I also have one of those crappy pent D 830 and 1 GB of RAM.
Medion MD8800: Pentium D830 (2*3.2GHz), Nvidia Geforce 9600GT (512MB GDDR3 - 600/702/1500), 2GB DDR2 RAM @568MHz, 1TB Samsung F3 + 250GB Seagate, Asus VH242H 23.6" 1920*1080
Fujitsu Siemens Xi 1554: Core 2 Duo T7200 (2*2.0GHz), ATI Mobility Radeon X1900 (256MB GDDR3 - 398/468), 2GB DDR2 RAM @667MHz, 2*160GB HDD 5400RPM, 17" full HD panel 1920*1200
Maybe we should make new topic called "Sys. requirements - speculations"? I think its a good idea. BTW: GF 7600GT should make the game run on low - med detail (it propably will be something about 8 levels of detail, like in UT2004.) . but my processor... its only AMD A64 300+ with 1,8 Ghz*, 1GB RAM and not so good (but also not so bad) mainboard.
*it could be overclocked to 2, maybe 2,2 GHz.
Well the question in that matter is whether or not the game would run well on that graphics card.Originally Posted by Monster w/21 Faces

Yeah I was on HP's site (Hewlett-Packard) researching the computer I'm gonna get when I graduate next June. I went to their most expensive model and that's what they have down so far for a graphics card. Yes, I should be getting a computer more towards gaming, but I'm not a hardcore gamer - I just play highly interesting games like UT2004 for amusement and home entertainment.Originally Posted by Monster w/21 Faces
So sorry... I didn't think it would go through twice - but I can't seem to delete this post so it has to remain like this.
Never ever ever buy a company made pc. Not from the makers and not from a store. Build your own. It's cheaper and you get better results.Originally Posted by NicAgent
Like I said I'm not a hardcore gamer. And anyways building my own computer is far more risky... and no customer assistance.Originally Posted by Monster w/21 Faces

You don't need to be a hardcore gamer. You just have to have the inclination to get a fair deal.Originally Posted by NicAgent

Customer Assistance? You have the internet! Every piece of information is merely minutes away.
all of you saying the game will run pooly on a 7 series card is rediculous. now granted it may not run top graphics but it will still run the game at a decent rate. all you have to do is think about it logicly,
first of all they did run the game on a 6800, AND THIS IS BEFORE THE GAME IS OPTIMIZED. all the demos and everything u have seen so far is all un optimized gaming. so it will only get better and better on worse and worse hardware as time goes on and they have the time to optimize it. they have said they will not attempt to optimize it until they are completed with the game and that is why u dont see any min sys specs yet.
secondly, if the rumors are correct the game is suposidly comming out very early 07, which is only 5-8 months away. how many more video cards do u think will be released in a 6 month span LOL. i mean sure the G80 (8 series) by nvidia is schedueled for release some time in that span of time. but u wont see another 95 video cards released, and u wont see nvidia up to a "9950GTXAOB" LOL by that time. so to think that a 7 series card wouldent be able to handle that game is obserd. do you honestly think epic would design and make a game that only a $3,000 rig could handle and or run on the day of its release? i think not, they are in it to make money and sell the game to the masses, not the select few who has a massivly expensive 1337 computer. so they will not only optimize the game a great deal, but they will make it very scalible in terms of graphics/physics/etc. to make it so that the low end user can also purchase, run, play, and enjoy the game.
so even though the min sys specs arent out, i would put my money that not only a 7 series card will be able to run the game, but also the 6 series cards as well. (granted it will be very minimal graphics for the 6 series) but it will still run the game.

I have 7900 GTX and I'm not going to believe that UT2007 will run poorly on medium-high settings. From a marketing point of view, going ahead of the average user's PC hardware is not a good idea.
Like I posted in the 2004 forum, I have a lowly 6600 GT and the most I'm willing to do at the moment is get a 2.2 AMD chip and a 7800 GS OC and pray that's enough to run it....
Who says a hardcore gamer can exactly work or install parts in their pc? Anyone can do it as long as that person can follow directions and isn't afraid of messing up their pc beyond repairOriginally Posted by NicAgent

Single. I was too stupid to get the deluxe verison of my motherboard (a mistake I'm hating myeslf for right now), which means my 16x PCI-E, when run in SLI, goes down to two 8x slots.
So, yeah... I'm just running one card. I'm kinda dissapointed though, because when I got it, it was $530, and now the 8000-series is out for like $100 more.
Just wondering... I'm looking at buying two 7900 in hopes that it will run 2007 on high settings.... Be nice to play Quake 4 other than low on my 6600 GT![]()
How about a single 8800gtx? It will probably run UT2k7 a lot better too, not to mention cheaper than 2 7900gtx's.

The 8800GTS is way cheaper and loses out a weee little bit, so the 8800GTS is better, 8800GTX is overpriced and requires a PSU with the +12 plug with 30amps, wtf.
Arguing on the Internet is like running in the Special Olympics: even if you win, you are STILL retarded. - Mobius"Sony claims Bullsh1t"!!!!
I have 7900gtx SLI in my PC. Oblivion runs better on my PC then xbox so I assume Gears of War would play better if it were playing on my PC. Being an unreal engine 3 title that my basis for comparison. I know its kinda shotty and not an apples to apples comparison. There are a lot of other things to take into account as well. I bet ut2007 will have higher resolution textures. Tim Sweeney did say that a 6800 ultra will run the game well on high at 1024X768.
So thats from the man himself. You could look at benchmarks of other video cards and compare to find out what you need. But the most important thing is that Epic will not release a game that wont make money. They have to hit a large install base. So I would say if you have a high end card now your in good shape.
Or get it after the game comes out for cheaper![]()

no it will cost a lot less and it will work on future dx10 games while a 7900gtx which is a dx9 card will only be able to render dx9 graphics. Go for what you want but IMO it's stupid to buy sli 7900gtx this late, might as well make it 2 8800gtx's if you really want sli, cost a few more bucks but it should be worth it (haven't actually seen the benchmarks for that yet).

I saw that an 8800 GTX gets something like 45,000 in 3dmark 03. a 7900 GTX gets maybe 20,000 :P
