The hell? Is there ANY defense against Shock Combo?

yeah...I guess it's finally my turn to complain and whine about something. I guess it's balanced off by the fact that it's more difficult to use *effectively* as compared to the rest of the weapons...but I'm really not seeing a way around that. If they explode the "cores" over and over...that's just it...you die. You can't risk trying to reject the "core" or they'll blow it up in your face...and the primary shot seems instantaneous. You can't "block" the hit either, apparently. The only hope seems to be running away...and what does that accomplish, really, but keep you alive for *maybe* 3 extra seconds?

*sidenote---it seems EVERYONE can reject EVERYTHING 100% now...so is there even a damn point to the rocket launcher anymore...considering even a blind 3 year old with Down Syndrome can see that bullcrap coming several years before it hits? I go for splash, and they STILL get a good rejection off it somehow. There's just no way...I'll go back to my original baby...the Flak. Discuss.

I still can't reject good.

But I have been monkin' around with the shcok rifle, and when I blow up cores I can't really see what is coming, so that is blind spot to a shock user.

SO you can use that with the bio-rifle and get an easy kill. (bio-rifle is my favorite weapon)

The problem I have(with shock and the EMP rockets) is that I can't proporly tell where it is in relation to my enemy, I always blow it too early

I've found out the only way to counter someone with the shock rifle. While they try to do shock combos, it's good to activate speed adrenaline for either getting farther away from him or getting so close up in his face which forces them to stop with the shock combos. Obviously while shooting them with something effective. (ie. If you're getting farther away and you want to hurt them from that distance, use the sniper rifle. For close up, either the explosive weapons & Stinger or Bio.) The point is I've found that speed helps you get away most of the time from a shock combo.

Here's the deal. You gotta get close when someone pulls out the shock. I find that it's worth it to try and reject if you are already close. Just reject twice real fast, and you can sometimes make them electrocute themselve or you may reject the shock primary which is a really devastating rejection. After rejecting, be quick to jump attack(jump+r). Once you get close, they have to switch weapons, which leave them vulnerable for a sec. I usually pull out my flak immediately after getting close. If you can get a flak in while they are vunerable, especially after rejecting, you can get a kill.

If they are to far away, I usually snipe while dodging the shock cores. Alot of people will pull out their melee once I start sniping to try and reject me.

Some good shock users are really hard to reject and dodge, but then again, that's true with everything in this game.

Yea shock is arguably the hardest gun to defend against if its used by a good player, so just try to be ready with a nimble/speed whenever possible, or just keep your feet on the ground so you can get the hell out of its way!

Well, there's a few ways...

. Turn on speed, and run at them with your shield up.
. Use a Skaarj and blade shield.
. Iron spirit, increases your defence by 50%.
. Use your shock rifle, try to blow up their cores in their face.

Try some of them.

I'm not sure how using a Skaarj blade sheild would work. Blade sheild is supposed to only reduce damage from explosive weapons. Or is there another glitch I don't know about?

Like you guys said, all you have to do is get up close to them, that happens to me a lot, but since i love the shock and killing melee whores, i always have the grenade launcher (flak works too, but you can finish the person off with your explosive weapon if they get too close, or if you're anubis/judas, do vampire cloud/energy burst when they try to get in close, that's why there's a counter for everything

get off the defensive and get on the offensive. Thats the best way. Get in their face and put pressure on them.

What i do is put on speed and throw on my shield, then block the shock combos as they come to me then pull out either my sniper/ripjack for a HS or my rockets to spam single fire. To block shock combos, put up your shield and throw yourself into the shock ball before it explodes, same with EMP on explosive weapons.

I say there is no counter for it at all, besides running. Up close works great, but when you're a light and trying to get close they will already have you killed. A good SR user is pretty much impossible to survive against, unless you are one too. Thats my opinion. And what the hell would blade shield do?

You can reject the core or "ball" secondary fire pretty easily, it doesn't do much damage but if you manage to make them shoot it with the primary on the way back you can get them to suicide.

You can also reflect the primary fire, its similar to the sniper, you have to hit your trigger at the same time they hit theirs.

I really hope that they come out with the character with energy shield. Many adrenaline weapons counter explosives, there should be at least one geared specifically against energy weapons.

why do you assume I dont ever play Survival? Ive only played against you like four times. I guess you have never played against a VERY good shock user. What are you're tips? And by impossible, I dont mean you have zero chance, I mean you're going to get crushed 9 times out of 10.

I'm not saying you never play survival, I just saying you need to play more if you are getting owned by the shock rifle. I have played a few really good shock users. Tragic is great with it, but I don't remember if he's ever really killed me with it. Quagmir3 has some shock skills too. There may be some better shock users out there, but if they don't play in the unreal servers, then their skills don't impress me much.

The stinger or the bio rifle in the hands of a skilled user are much greater threats for a 1v1 anyday.

I see the SR as much more or a threat, bio rifle is avoidable. If you're a Skaarj thats even a huge plus. Stinger, maybe, but its so boring to use lol. I dont know who, but I know Ive encountered some really good SR users. Its the fact that, there really isnt much to do when a bunch of shock balls are exploding around you.

I think the GL takes just about as much skill. But you are right, it does take alot of skill to be good with the SR. Unless you use a mouse and keyboard. Then your automatically skilled.

Well I just learned first hand last night that the Ultimate defense against the shock combo is another shock combo. I was practing the shock combo and just so happened to be in a room with a combo whore. When the guy was spamming blue orbs I shot one of his by mistake and saw it blow up...at that very moment a light blub appeared above my head. For the rest of the match I was spamming primary fire whenever I saw him and got him to kill himself about 4 times.

Yes thats the ultimate defense people.....offense with the same god damn weapon.
